The Government today announced that it will waive the Vacant Residential Land Tax for properties that are vacant in 2020. The initiative will save property owners a combined $6 million. The Government will also provide much-needed relief for car park owners, with a 25 per cent waiver of this years congestion levy. Car park owners can also defer any outstanding balances until next year. This waiver will save car park owners a combined $30 million. These small but important changes are the result of close consultation with the sectors and property owners. The Government has provided more than $10 billion in coronavirus support measures, including billions of dollars in direct economic support for businesses. In total, the Government has announced $4 billion in direct economic support and $2.7 billion in infrastructure projects to create jobs and stimulate the economy. Further support for Victorian businesses will be announced in the coming days. 19.01.2022 BUDGET ANNOUNCEMENT: MORE ambulances, MORE paramedics & MORE beds! The 21/22 Budget will deliver more than $759 million in funding for more paramedics, more triage care and support staff for Ambulance Victoria, as well as targeted funding to improve flow in our busy emergency departments. While we have been free from local COVID-19 transmission for 70 days now, the global pandemic has had a lasting impact on our ambulance and health services, as is reflected across the count...ry. Last quarter alone, there were more than 36,000 callers to 000 who did not need an emergency ambulance and were instead connected to more appropriate primary care services. Between July-September 2020 and January-March 2021, the volume of emergency department presentations increased by 30 per cent, putting additional strain on all parts of our health system and our healthcare workforces. This funding will ensure that our systems are equipped to meet these unprecedented levels of demand. The $759 million package includes $266.224 million to meet unavoidable ambulance demand and drive performance improvement. $204.269 million for ambulance sustainability to fund ongoing operational improvements including the 117 paramedics deployed last year. $89 million to improve flow in our Emergency Departments and facilitate faster transfer between ambulances and health services including the more emergency department staff. $65 million for commissioning new facilities in St Vincent’s on the Park, Sunshine Emergency Department and Barwon. $135 million to open additional beds in our health services and the associated workforce required to support these facilities.

All primary school students, students in Year 7 and students studying VCE and VCAL subjects, as well as students at specialist schools will be back in the classroom from today. Students in Years 8 - 10 in Melbourne will return from Monday 26 October, in the final step of the staggered return of students and teachers to classrooms across the state. EXTRA TESTING REQUIREMENTS AS WE MOVE TO COVID NORMAL Close contacts of people with coronavirus will be asked to get tested on day 11 of quarantine to help reduce the spread of the virus, as we step up protections for regional Victoria. From today, those identified as close contacts by the Department of Health and Human Services must get tested on day 11 or thereafter of their quarantine period, or they will have their quarantine extended. Getting tested on day 11 of quarantine helps accurately identify whether it is safe for the close contact to be released from quarantine, without the risk of infecting other people. If the test is negative, the person will receive a notice of clearance from the Department, likely on or after day 14. If the test is positive, the Department will contact the person with further advice. In the limited circumstances where a close contact does not agree to take the coronavirus test, they will remain in quarantine for a total of 24 days from their last exposure to the virus to ensure public health is maintained. 12.01.2022 LIVE MUSIC GRANTS & INDUSTRY SUPPORT! Back in the late 80s me and my mates played 3 or 4 nights a week in little unknown cover and original bands. I remember playing The Espy, The Evelyn, Royal Derby, The Station Hotel, The Tote, The Great Britain and more. I can look back at that period of my life and it revolved around those venues, those gigs, the other bands we saw come and go and those that stood the test of time.... Not all of those venues are still here today but the ones that are, well, I'd really like them to be around for my kids to experience in years to come. I am so pleased that we are able to help support our Victorian venues and the live music industry with funding through the Victorian Music Industry Recovery Program, assisting them to rebuild, recover and adapt for the future. Premier Dan Andrews and Minister for Creative Industries Martin Foley MP have announced our Governments latest round of initiatives, including grants of more than $13 million, to help prepare Victorias music industry for a vibrant, COVID normal future: Survival cash injections for more than 100 beloved live music venues Grants to support music jobs on stage and behind the scenes New planning controls to better protect live music venues will all help our states world-famous music industry rebuild, recover and prepare for a summer like no other. The Victorian Music Industry Recovery program is a $3 million grants initiative that will offer grants of between $4,000 and $50,000 to support artists, managers, promoters, bookers, road crew and other workers to keep creating music, undertake professional and business training and develop COVID safe ways of working. Applications will open at noon on Monday, 21 September and close on 22 October 2020. The full list of music venues supported through the first round of Victorian Live Music Venues program to date is available at: www.creative.vic.gov.au. Guidelines for the Victorian Music Industry Recovery program are also available on this site.

11.01.2022 A message from Premier Daniel Andrews These numbers are worth mentioning and celebrating. Today Melbourne's 14-day average dropped below 50 for the first time in months. It's fallen almost 10-fold since early August.... That means we're well on track to take the next step but the more we can drive the numbers down before then, the better position we'll be in on the other side. Now is not the time to take our foot off the pedal. We've got this.
11.01.2022 Today we remember and pay tribute to the workers who lost their lives at the West Gate Bridge 50 years ago. We also remember the lasting impacts on the ambulance and emergency workers who responded. We must continue to renew our commitment to safety in every Victorian workplace.

07.01.2022 SAFELY OPENING ELECTIVE SURGERY FOR METROPOLITAN MELBOURNE While urgent and emergency surgery and care has continued, state-wide restrictions on elective surgery have meant non-urgent Category 2 and 3 surgeries have been deferred.... From 28 September hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne will resume at 75 per cent activity when they enter the Second Step and 85 per cent of usual activity when they move to the Third Step of the roadmap. All Victorian hospitals will move to 100 per cent of normal activity when the state moves to the Last Step to COVID Normal This plan will allow for around approximately 18,750 additional elective surgeries across our private and public hospitals in October and an extra 10,500 surgeries in November. We will also reinstate the elective surgery blitz as soon as it is safe to do so in the new year to catch up on any backlog and make sure we get as many patients into theatres as possible. As we move to reopen, every measure will also be taken to ensure the safety of both staff and patients including screening, physical distancing, appropriate PPE as well as ensuring adequately spaced meal areas for staff. We are grateful to our dedicated doctors, nurses and other health staff for working hard to ensure the most urgent elective surgery patients can access the surgery they need, while also caring for patients impacted by this global pandemic.

06.01.2022 Public Transport - RETURN TO WORK REMINDER We've done the work to make sure our public transport network is clean, safe and ready for Victorians to return. Thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of Victorians we’re able to begin a phased approach for staff heading back to the office. From today, up to 25 per cent of workers will be able to attend onsite. Everyone travelling on public transport must wear a mask for their full journey, including in stations and at tram and bus stops. 03.01.2022 More Renewables More Jobs Less Emissions Victorians know that renewable energy is a great way to create jobs and drive down power prices and will be an important part of our COVID recovery. Thats why the Victorian Government has announced a market sounding to bring online at least 600 MW of new generation enough to power Melbournes trains, schools and hospitals and help rebuild our economy.... In 2017, the Victorian Government sought 650 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy through the Victorian Renewable Energy Target (VRET) Auction. The VRET auction exceeded this ambitious target, delivering 928 MW of renewable energy boosting supply, putting downward pressure on power prices, and supporting 1,500 jobs and opportunities for local businesses across the state, particularly in regional Victoria. Victoria is on track to meet its legislated 2020 renewable energy target of 25 per cent and procuring new generation will make a significant contribution to meeting the 2025 target of 40 per cent renewable energy, and the legislated target of net-zero emissions by 2050. 02.01.2022 Natalie Suleyman MP and I are wearing orange for International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Every woman deserves to feel safe, respected and equal at home, at work and everywhere in between. The Andrews Labor Government is committed to progressing gender equality and ending violence against women.... During this year’s 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, we are asking Victorians to talk about what respect and equality looks like at home, in relationships, in families, in workplaces and in public. We all have a role to play in calling out disrespect when we see it. Together, we can create a Victoria free from violence. #16DaysofActivism2020 #16Days #OrangeTheWorld #CallItOut Respect Victoria https://www.safesteps.org.au/

02.01.2022 SCHOOL HOLIDAY FUN... THIS WAY With today marking the first day of the Term 3 school holidays, our kids and families deserve a well earned break from remote and flexible learning. We know spending the school holidays at home can be tough.... However, just because we are limited in the places we can visit these school holidays, there's still plenty on offer to keep our youngest Victorians active and engaged. Victorian kids will be very busy making, baking and creating, thanks to an array of online activities and events accessible via the Victoria Together platform. Much loved school holiday destinations like the NGV, the Arts Centre Melbourne, ACMI and the State Library of Victoria are just some of the fabulous attractions offering a range of daily activities and programs for all ages. Aspiring young filmmakers can learn how to write their own scripts, build their own stop-motion animation and create a cracking contraption with Wallace and Gromit, thanks to the online offering at ACMI. While a trip to the NGV will have to wait a little while longer, kids can tune in to virtual art classes, download activity sheets and take artistic inspiration from their very own home, backyard or balcony. Arts Centre Melbourne will keep young Victorians singing, dancing and making music with Move, Make, Create" a series of online workshops and a Choose Your Own Variety special hosted by Ali McGregor with special guests Frank Woodley, The Listies and Dane Simpson. State Library Victoria will keep kids occupied with storytelling workshops and its virtual Storytime Sessions with some of Victoria's best-loved authors. By staying home and staying safe these school holidays, we can all help make sure Victoria is that much closer to reaching COVID Normal and make sure the next school holidays look a little more normal too. I would love our younger members of the Mount Waverley District to inspire us and share what they get up to over the school holiday break - whether it be art work, baking or a favourite book recommendation from the Storytime Sessions. For a full program of free and low-cost online events, activities and attractions these school holidays, visit www.together.vic.gov.au/school-holidays-activities

01.01.2022 UPDATE SEPTEMBER 23 2020 15 new cases recorded in Victoria overnight 1 active cases in Monash 1 554 active cases in Victoria 56... There have been 5 new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday There are currently 75 patients in hospital, with 8 in intensive care TODAY'S KEY MESSAGES UPGRADES FOR PUBLIC AGED CARE FACILITIES Were committed to ensuring older Victorians live in comfortable and modern aged care facilities. Thats why were investing $30 million across the state to: upgrade infrastructure replace equipment and furniture boost local economies Health services will work with local tradespeople and businesses bringing a much-needed economic boost to regional Victoria. Planning is underway with most upgrades set to be complete within 12 months. AGED CARE While the Commonwealth is the primary regulator and funder of aged care in Australia, were doing everything in our power to protect and care for older Victorians. Victorias experienced doctors and nurses have stepped in to help numerous aged facilities cope with the high demand during this extremely difficult period because of this, many patients are able to receive the same care they would in hospital without potentially putting their health and safety at risk by transferring them. The VACRC yesterday announced as cases in aged care continue to fall in Victoria in line with community transmission, the Response Centre is shifting gear to focus on prevention and recovery including returning residents to their homes, whilst continuing to support facilities with existing outbreaks. WORKING FROM HOME The advice to Victorians about working from home during this pandemic has been consistent and its been very clear. If you can work from home, you must work from home to slow the spread of this deadly virus and save lives. We dont want to see crowded trains or lifts, and we know that it is challenging to keep 1.5 metres apart in shared bathrooms and kitchens. Thats why all Victorians, including those in regional areas such as Geelong, must continue working from home if they can work from home. We understand everyone is making huge sacrifices and working from home may be inconvenient at times, but this strategy is working, and we are driving cases down. This is an anxious and uncertain time for everyone and support is vital and available.
