An ‘art colony ‘ housing famous artists that all selected name architects to design their homes contains fine examples of Gothic Revival, late Victorian, Queen Anne & Arts & Crafts - many of these styles wrongly set the agenda for much of Melbourne’s post gold rush wealth and design of ‘Victorian City’ buildings. .... This one #TowerHouse Designed by William Burges in 1875 & home to Led Zep’s Jimmy Page. . 01.01.2022 This is a belated message from the UK but our hearts go out to all those Australians effected by the fires. Fires that remain very much ongoing and will stay that way no doubt deep into March. Some of the comments from the other side of the world have been ‘Why are fires such a problem is Australia’?, ‘Does Australia still burn coal?’, ‘Those poor animals’, ‘It makes the Great Fire of London look miniscule’. . It’s clear that we need to think about these events within a simil...ar historical reference. Seemingly it all points to one thing -> another hour has ticked over on the climate change clock. With these sobering thoughts in mind MGA+D provide our own small commitment to supporting the incredible efforts of those helping others in need and most especially the front liners of the Country Fire Authority where we heard another life was lost today. We provide donations to the CFA, the Australian Red Cross & the Salvation Army and have signed up to provide future assistance via the national Institutes ‘Architects Assist’ program. We’ve been amazed, proud & moved viewing from afar the Australian people coming together in such patriotic support of each other. It seems Aussies are at their best when in crisis . It begs the question why wait for a crisis.
