24.01.2022 Here’s sketch I did out at Glen Helen on Saturday. I’d like to go again and emphasise on the grandeur scale of the left rock face, especially when the shade cover hits certain areas. Spoke to a ranger and he told me that some of the organ pipes Albert Namatjira used to paint through the ravine isn’t quite accessible these days from other side, the track has slowly faded away. Clearly hard to get to with a drawing book from this side with the body of water, too. 16.01.2022 Study for Dog Rock. I remember coming here for the first time with my teacher and drawing/painting it from the west facing side. I’ve always wanted to paint it after riding or driving past it every day. It’s got a lot of energy, and despite the Buffel currently choking it, the place is still a sight to see. With every minute, the lighting changes as the sun crosses over it. I decided to draw the east side so the morning sun would light it up! 02.01.2022 Dog rock study It’s getting to that time of year! Sunny, clear skies, cool breeze, no flies. Going to be a lot of drawing in the landscape this year! I wanted to have an angle of Dog Rock similar to my Corroborree Rock painting last year. The animals eye view, coming across an area for the first time. Despite all the Buffel in the area choking the ground, it’s still a sight to see and you can feel what it would be like to stumble across this for the first time. ...
