23.01.2022 For those that know me understand that theres no close to perfect race for me to try and reach my 24H distance limit, so Ive decided to create one myself (to run in as well). Middle of winter, focused on quality over quantity, small selective field, ideal track and weather conditions for big totals/records, prize money for performance levels, no shared lanes with other races and minimal travel distance to the race. The Australian 24 Hour Track Invitational is now live and open - www.australian24hourtrackinvitational.com.au

23.01.2022 Coming back from a Sunday morning Dad & Daughter horse ride on the trails together

23.01.2022 Today is the day! Last chance to buy raffle tickets before the 12pm draw at the charity lunch today. Just $20 for 1, $50 for 3 - all going towards our $50,000 committed target.... https://lnkd.in/d5_kREP

22.01.2022 Good hit out at the Adelaide 24 this weekend finishing with just under 253km. Was looking for a solid 24h run to do before France in October to fine tune tapering, pacing plan, fuel & liquid timing on intake on a longer loop (2.2km loop) (France is 1.6km) instead of on the normal 400m track and just to see where my current training week is at and how it converts to a 24h. Kept within my self mentally (no hard push, just leg work out) to save it for France. This race had the p...erfect weather (super cold) which is ideal for me - I was the only one who wore a singlet the entire race! And in other news - I finally (after 4 years since the last) did a 24h hour without vomiting. Yay, makes a massive difference for me! A huge shout out to my Mum who came down with me from brisbane to crew (even though she hates the cold. Her support easily passing me the fuel & liquid per my plan, was second to none, as is her ability to keep me positive and focused. Plus shes just an all round legend lessons learnt today and will be applied come the World Champs See more

22.01.2022 Thanks to @peaksportsandspinecentre for having me as part of their team at the GC Marathon yesterday. Always great to share the race experience with you guys. Good finish to the 180km training week before I start my taper for the Adelaide 24h this weekend. Focused on starting the run comfortably, increasing the speed every hour, then just letting go and stretching out the last bit. #poweredbypeak

17.01.2022 Not my day at the Sri Chinmoy 24h in Campbelltown Ate some dodgy food for lunch down here yesterday which didnt sit well last night. Stomach then packed it in at about 5h into the race today. A solid weekend long run at least. Back to training again on Monday for the next one

17.01.2022 Good 6h hit out at Coburg today. 76km, an approx 6km improvement from Canberra 4 weeks ago, so happy with the training progress. First 200km+ week for the year, and very satisfied that I was able to hold a pretty consistent pace with minimal fade. Great to catch up with running mates again and a huge congrats to Kev on his PB 250km+ 24h. The man is a machine

17.01.2022 Soochow Asian Champs done and dusted. Tough day at the office but proud to stay out there and grind out a 184.xkm. Was hot early and I ran slower to conditions, but the heat still found a way to best me. Stopped to reapply sunscreen at 4h at the front of the crew tent on the inside of the track, but blacked out, stumbled right across the track and smashed head first into the outside barrier. Apparently it didnt look good Took a rest but ended up spewing x3 times over the n...ext 6 hours, maybe some mild concussion to work through combined with the heat, but it didnt feel that bad. As always though, once I spew the power in the legs go. Awesome results though with male & female teams medals and a female individual podium. Great to represent Aus again and be a part of the team, Ill be back again at a 24h soon, maybe at one a little cooler though See more

17.01.2022 First taper run on French soil through farms and villages. 6 days until the 24h champs in Albi. #poweredbypeak

16.01.2022 Great weekend at the Australian 24 Hour Track Invitational. From a personal running/racing perspective Ive come to realize that my body & mind wont let me push hard for a full 24h anymore regardless of how perfect my training/preparation is and race conditions are. But Im ok with that, Im very happy with the 24H results Ive achieved over the years and am comfortable that I reached my 24H distance limit. Ill continue to simply enjoy the training/fitness from running which has always been my favourite part and racing shorter/different events for the fun of it. I now switch my 24H focus to growing the Australian 24 Hour Track Invitational to be one of the best and highest profile 24H events in the world and helping grow the sport further as AURA VP. Such a great weekend and thank you for all those who made it so

15.01.2022 #corona In honour of the cancelled Sri Chinmoy 48 Hour Track Festival this weekend due to the coronavirus I decided today to still complete my 6 hour race, albeit by myself on my treadmill in our garage at home. Forfeited interstate travels costs for 5 family members and race entry fee wont stop me from doing what I love. We will get through these times whatever it takes, even with just a little flexibility and imagination to still succeed, be the one who steps forward when others are stepping back. Whilst we can be beaten, well never be broken. #virtualultrarunner #corona

15.01.2022 Cool fathers day present! Today was the day she did it by herself

11.01.2022 I am asking for YOUR HELP.. I have, along with a close group of friends, committed to raise $50,000 to save the leg of a young Gold Coast boy named William, who has a very rare limb disorder. Myself and a few of my friends met William late 2017 and his Mum who has worked tirelessly to find the funds for this, before its too late. Were fortunate enough to be in a position to donate our time and rally our social network to help find the funds to save Williams leg. We have ...already sold out all tickets for a charity lunch we are hosting on Feb 16th. Those ticket sales and existing donations from those who couldnt attend the lunch, has already raised about $20,000 towards our $50,000 committed target. I am asking for YOUR HELP, via a donation on this Eventbrite link below,(there is an option to donate upon clicking the ticket purchase button), any amount you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. https://lnkd.in/d5_kREP

11.01.2022 Great to catch up yesterday with some old friends and training partners from 20+ years ago and have a roll again. Congrats @mattcooper on your awesome new gym

09.01.2022 Happy Australia Day

08.01.2022 Back on the treadmill again this morning after a solid 6h on the weekend at the Canberra 48h Champs. Good measuring stick for my training block as I wind up again for the year of racing. Much more enjoyable doing a weekend long run with friends on the track than alone in the garage! What I enjoyed heaps though was crewing for Dan Symonds during the two night shifts on his cracking 48h debut. He and his wife Jo are such legends and it was a privilege to be a part of their race. My first time ever crewing and Im amazed at how much i learnt from being in that role and on the side of the track for long periods of time during the tough chunks of a race positively influencing other runners. Big take away for me and my own running. Thank you guys for the inspiration

07.01.2022 Recap of a great day of running https://iau-ultramarathon.org/iau-6h-virtual-global-solidar

07.01.2022 Congrats Stephen on the big PB! For me this 24h was all about getting to the 240km, regaining some confidence and securing a qualifier for the Aussie 24h Team in Austria next year. Legs were not 100% with the treadmill 12h 3 weeks ago, but I was able to grind out the 2nd 1/2 and get to where I needed to. Theres been a lot of failures, learning and adjustments over the last 3 years. Thanks everyone for your ongoing support during this time helping me get back

06.01.2022 Aprils 6H done today. 3km improvement from last month. #corona #virtualultrarunner

05.01.2022 A perfect recap of the race, thanks Rob

04.01.2022 Well I came to smash the Albi 24h world champs but unfortunately it smashed me! We enjoyed cool weather last week, well have cool weather next week, but race day was a random hot one with high humidity. Im SO envious of runners who can perform well and consistent in all weather conditions. Finished up with about 190km, a far cry from my goal, but really proud that I tried my best and stayed out there with the team for the whole duration of the race. Was a fantastic atmosphe...re, gutsy team performance and lovely to have Katie, Lily and Oliver there to be a part of it. Thanks to Mum for being outstanding crew support as always, all members of the team for another memorable world champs and for the words of encouragement from those back home. I know I have a big total in me and my day will come when I have that one dream race. Over the years Ive made a magnitude of adjustments in all areas where I now feel very confident that with everything else in place like it was today, all thats left and I need is the really cold weather. See more

03.01.2022 Look forward to doing a 6H run around the Brisbane City/Southbank/Brisbane River areas with my great mate @barryloveday on Sunday 30/08/20. Starting at 7am from the Botanical Gardens anyone and everyone is welcome to join us for some or all of the 6h, then lunch/beer afterwards

02.01.2022 Very enjoyable 60km run yesterday with the QLD contingent of the IAU 6H Virtual Global Solidarity Run Aussie Team Great to be able to share some kms, banter, choc milk and then beers

01.01.2022 For those whod like to follow the Aussie team at the 24h champs in Albi France - here is the best way https://m.facebook.com/groups/2256224251330369

01.01.2022 Been years since Ive done a trail race and now I remember why! Stacked it 10 times and would have got lost at least 3 if it wasnt for this legend Kieran OBrien. But great fun though doing the Glass House Trail Series Cooks Tour 50 miler (83km) in 8h03min to finish off a 220km week. Back home now to rest up for Mothers Day tomorrow and spoiling the better half

01.01.2022 We committed to raise $50k for William, hoped for $75k so Aimee didnt need to worry about the rest that she needed, but yesterday saw good people come together, rally and raise her $88k. Thank you to everyone This saved Williams leg and has made a direct impact on this little boys life forever
