24.01.2022 Well done, Ikea! We love to see innovation and people working towards accessibility for all!

24.01.2022 Huge congrats to Dylan Alcott for taking home a Logie last night! His acceptance speech had us cheering! "Also to show that people with disabilities can be talented, funny, humorous, just normal people enjoying their lives." Well done, Dylan...hope you celebrated in true boss style!

23.01.2022 A fantastic outcome for this NDIS participant with their recent major bathroom modifications. Our key objectives were to make this space safe and accessible by combining the separate bathroom and toilet, along with a flat access shower. The existing shower bench helps with energy conservation and the shower rails assist in stability and increased safety. The client, the contractor and I are all thrilled with the outcome. ... Home modifications and assistive technology are areas I’m passionate about. If you require advice in either of these areas don’t hesitate to get in touch.

23.01.2022 Nice morning for it! Spending the day on Magnetic Island seeing a few of my new participants. Guys, you’ve got yourself a nice part of the world!

22.01.2022 A bit of inspiration to start your Thursday.

17.01.2022 Can you give blood? Did you know 31,000 donors are needed each week? Your donation can help so many people - from new mums, to trauma patients to people suffering from cancer and blood disease.... It only takes an hour of your time, it's free, and it's a great way to give back to the community. I'd urge you to check out Australian Red Cross Lifeblood to find out your eligibility.

13.01.2022 What does an OT actually do? This is one of the questions we hear most frequently. Its such a multifaceted role, no one post could summarise it all, but heres a good start!

11.01.2022 We have some excellent equipment suppliers locally who are generous enough to lend me equipment to trial with my clients. Trialling a piece of equipment before purchasing it is so important because there are many factors to consider. Functionality in your home, ease of use, adjustability, application to task - really, the list goes on. One excellent piece of equipment Ive trialled successfully with a few clients lately, is the Revolution Chair. This nifty little chair a...nd its novel action allows for side transfers and a forward slide into the task area. Either client or carer operated it helps with increasing access, independence and safety to meals, social activities and work tasks. This chair also comes in bariatric size and a range of colours. As always, Im here if you have any questions or would like to trial this piece of equipment for yourself. Simply send me a message or reach out via my contact page https://www.matthewganlyot.com.au/contact Happy Friday, folks!

04.01.2022 What to expect when youre caring for elderly parent? What support is available to you? What qualifies you as a carer? Some great information can be found in this article via Feros Care https://www.feroscare.com.au//caring-for-elderly-parents-w

03.01.2022 We loved this insightful video explaining autism in simple, easy to understand terms. People with autism are not ill or broken, they simply have a unique view of the world. And with a little support from their friends, they might just be able to share their view with us. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RbwRrVw-CRo

01.01.2022 The Carendo is a magnificent piece of equipment and we are so pleased to have received NDIS approval today on a client application we recently submitted. The Carendo will now allow our participant to increase their independence in managing self-care, allowing for better positioning and pressure management along with giving support staff peace of mind if the participant requests some time alone whilst showering/toileting. We are thrilled with this outcome and can't wait to get... this set up in situ for the participant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1HfmlmHJ-4
