22.01.2022 And this is why boiler treatment and regular cleaning/maintenance are important. After Probally 6 heats and flushes we left the cleaner in the boiler for the week. And this is the result. What you can just see in the corners of the tub are black scale and the white is also scum from the blowdown (Had to presurise the boiler to get it to drain). Now we repeat the heat and flush for the rest of the day and see how we go. No wonder the poor thing wasn't making steam.

19.01.2022 And a riveting time was had by all
18.01.2022 It baffling the number of rivets required to make a welded tender.
18.01.2022 Back to 'normal' work today. This came in a couple of weeks ago as a box of bits with the request to put it together for as is static restoration. I've managed to piece together a fair bit of it. All that's remaining are the regulator linkages and making a socket that will let me tighten the lock nuts on the wheels so I can quater it correctly.
18.01.2022 Today's job, make a start on this bugger. Lots of double and triple checking but it getting there. Next up the other end then the smokebox mount then the drai................. you get the idea.
16.01.2022 Paint work is always 90 percent preparation. 1st strip off as much of the old paint as possible(you never know what's under the old paint. I've seen paint that looks perfect but underneath the metal was covered in rust and the paint was just holding on). Then a quick trip the the beed blaster to do a final clean up and give the surface a good key for the undercoat. Then a good wipe down with some wax and grease remover. Then mask up all of the working surfaces. (Its amazing how many people miss this step) and then it's finally time to spray the undercoat. I'm not recording this work for YouTube but in the 32 class video I'll walk you through the steps I take even time I paint a model.
15.01.2022 Another minor improvement today. Straightened the ladder and added the grab rail
13.01.2022 Another 40 plus deg day in the workshop today but managed to push through and get the tender sides cut and formed.
12.01.2022 the next video is up. i'm waiting on bits for the 32 so i ran this one instead. https://youtu.be/RQKdftxvjLs
09.01.2022 Got the little guy back together this morning and then decided to try and sort this thing out. Quite a few leaks in the smoke box. I've also been working on another project as well that some may find interesting. More to come later tonight.
09.01.2022 decided to try and get a youtube channel off the ground showing how we go about things. the plan at the moment is to do a series of videos on the current projects which would include some form of tutorial on how to do something on the locos. if anyone has any comments about how to improve the videos i am open to advice, criticism etc. https://youtu.be/DxWVb9svAdw
09.01.2022 Started on a bit of body work today.
07.01.2022 Bit more progress today. The brake beam is now complete and installed, 3rd wheel set finished and trial fitted and the body mounts have also been fabed and fitted.
06.01.2022 A bit more work was done on the blowfly boilers today. On track to have then completed by the end of the month.
06.01.2022 Starting to look like something now.
04.01.2022 Been a rather hectic week this week. We spent 2 days in a national park fixing a bulldozer and the rest of the week on a couple of other jobs. So I didn't get as much done on trains as I had planned. But to the everyone one over here is a shot of the duchess tender with the sides sitting in position. I need to cut around 7/16 of an inch of the back after I discovered a tender change took place later in life for the loco being modeled. Oh and the next 2 you tube videos have been shot and I will be editing them tonight for release over the next week.
01.01.2022 The next video update on the 32 should be done shortly I just want to finish the super heater modifications started in the last video. To tie every one over till then here is a before and after pic of the funnel. It was a round 1/8 inch over size slightly the incorrect profile and the casting marks were still visible. A quick trip though the lathe and it has improved the look of the front end quite a bit. Now to work out how to make the pump look right...........
