25.01.2022 No national days today. Just my TC flags.
25.01.2022 Another beautiful morning here in The Boo. A beautiful day to celebrate one of the oldest countries in the Worlds national day. Happy Foundation Day San Marino.
24.01.2022 Today here in The Boo we fly flags of Algeria on their Anniversary of the Revolution Day and the flag of Antigua and Barbuda for their Independence Day. Did you know that in Algeria Combat taa lkbech’ (in the local Algerian Arabic dialect) is sheep fighting. It’s an illegal sport in Algeria where sheep are trained to battle each other to death. Another did you know?. Did you know that the highest point in Antigua and Barbuda (Boggy Peak) had its name changed from 2009 to 2016 to Mount Obama after Barrack Obama. It’s now been renamed back to its original name.
24.01.2022 A few days without national days!
24.01.2022 Today the African Natiion of Cte dIvoire (aka Ivory Coast) is celebrating their Independence Day. They gained their independence from France in 1960. Some of their National Parks are amazing! Happy 60 years of independence.
23.01.2022 The front page for our 9 September issue feature Josephine Crescent resident MAtt Schmitz and his hobby of flag collecting and flying on the three flag poles he... has on his property. The flag he is shown holding is one of the more obscure countries whose flag he has in his collection. Transnistria is only recognised by three other countries. See more
22.01.2022 Today in the Boo we celebrate yesterdays national days of the Congo and Liechtenstein . I made sure that they were hung last night so they were flying on their actually national day...lol. Boy my OCD really kicks in with flags and numbers.
21.01.2022 Happy Central African Republic Republic Day and Romanian Great Union Day guys. Did you know that the Central African Republic is the least light polluted country in the World. Also strangely most compasses don’t work here due to the Bangui Magnetic Anomaly. Scientists still to this day do not know exactly what causes the needle to spin. Did you know that Romania has the largest Wooden Church in the World.... Did you also know that the Romanian flag is identical to the flag of Chad , and the only thing that separates Moldova’s and Andorra’s flags from Chad and Romania is a crest in the middle. See more
20.01.2022 Today we celebrate with the South American Giant, the Worlds fifth largest country and the country with the most native speaking Portuguese....Brazil . Today is the Brazilian Independence Day.
20.01.2022 Hi All, No national days today. But I have had a lot of people ask me how I keep my flags. I have curtin rails with hooks and laminated country names. I have a excel spreadsheet with all the countries national day which is also broken down month by month. Then I have put all the national days into my diary. Its been a big process but its worth it. I think my neighbours may think Im crazy though...lol Have a great day!
20.01.2022 Another country at the top end of my bucket list, Kazakhstan today celebrate their Constitution Day . Happy Constitution Day guys. Fact: Kazakhstan changed the name of their capital city last year from Astana to Nur-Sultan.
19.01.2022 Today we fly the flags for Independence Day in Guatemala , Honduras and Nicaragua and flew the flags yesterday in celebration Independence Day Costa Rica and El Salvador . Today these 5 countries celebrate Independence from Spain 199 years ago.
19.01.2022 Happy Independence Day Chad . Please dont mistake this flag for Romania (easy to do as its exactly the same flag), their Independence Day is not until December. Ps another lovely day in the Boo!
18.01.2022 Happy Independence Day Ecuador!
17.01.2022 Today in Mirboo North not only do we have the Mirboo North Market but we also fly the flag of Slovakia in celebration of their National uprising day. This is one of three of their National Days. Enjoy the sun but stay safe.
16.01.2022 Today on Whats That Flag we celebrate Independence Day in Afghanistan ! Happy Independence Day Afghanistan !
15.01.2022 Today we fly the flags of Dominica and Micronesia for their Independence Days and the flag of Panama for their Separation Day. Did you know that other than the tiniest little bit of purple on the coat of arms on the Belize and Nicaraguan flags Dominica is the only national flag with purple. Did you know the in Pingelap, in Micronesia has the most colour blind people in the World. World wide 1 in 30,000 are colour blind but in Pingelap it’s a massive 1 in 10 people. ... Panama City is the only capital city in the World that boasts a rainforest in its city limits.
14.01.2022 Although you might be thinking that’s the flag of Indonesia or he has put the Polish flag upside down or is his Singapore flag missing the moon and stars you would be mistaken. Today is National Day Monaco also known as The Sovereign Prince’s Day. Did you know that on a per capita/per area basis Monaco has the largest police force, helping it to be one of the safest countries in the World. The average person can walk from one side of the country to the other in under 56 minutes as it’s approximately the same size as New York’s Central Park.
13.01.2022 Lest we forget.
13.01.2022 Today we celebrate National Day in Andorra , Victory Day in and Independence Day in North Macedonia . Did you know that Andorra has two Princes. They are actually co-Prince shared between the Bishop of Urgell (Spain) and the President of France. Malta loves their public holidays. They celebrate 14 public holidays which is the highest number of public holidays within the EU.... In June 2020 marked two years since the official name change from Macedonia to North Macedonia. This was changed due to a name dispute between Macedonia and Greece.
13.01.2022 Another lovely day here in The Boo. Today we celebrate Independence Day in Uzbekistan and Constitution Day of Slovakia . Enjoy your day.
12.01.2022 What a great day to celebrate Fathers Day. Its also a great day to celebrate Somhlolo Day (Independence Day) in Eswatini formally Swaziland and Unification Day in Bulgaria . Did you know that Eswatini is Africas last absolute monarchy. This means that the King is also the government. Traditionally the King reigns with his mother. She is known as Indlovukazi meaning she elephant. Did you know that Scotland is not the only place to have bagpipes. The bagpipes are a traditional instrument in Bulgaria as well.
11.01.2022 Happy National Day Singapore ! What an amazing little country. So much to offer as a holiday destination.
11.01.2022 Today is Independence Day in Vietnam and self declared Independence Day of the Self declared country of Transnistra. Transnistra is classed as Europes black hole. It has everything a country has like a President, its own flag, its own currency, passports, national anthem etc but its not a recognised country. Its technically still part of Moldova although they dont even speak the same language and have nothing to do with each other and Moldovan government has no juris...diction. It is also the only country with a hammer and sickle on its flag. I got to get there one day. Happy Independence Day to both Transnistra and Vietnam.
10.01.2022 This flag thing sometimes is harder than you think. So many aspects to consider to try and avoid anyone being offended. So far so good...lol Today I am flying the flags of Angola and Poland for their Independence Day and Sint Maarten for their Sint Maarten Day. I am flying these a day early due to tomorrow’s Remembrance Day where I would like to fly the Australian flags.... Did you know that the Giant Sable Antelope was thought to be extinct until it was found to be endemic to Angola in 2004. Did you know in Poland Foreign movies and series are dubbed, but not by Polish actors, but a single man reading parts of everyone (including women and children). The original version is still there, so viewers can hear the first two seconds of each sentence (and faintly in the background later), before the reader starts saying the same thing in Polish. Sint Maarten is recognisable for their famous airport, Princess Juliana Airport. You would have seen the pictures of people on a beautiful beach with an airplane passing meters over their heads. But did you know though a tourist died in 2017 from a jet blast (wind from the jet) as the airplane was taking off.
10.01.2022 In the 7 years Ive run my own travel business, I have met and helped some wonderful people plan their holidays. Maria and her husband Joe were referred to me a couple of years ago and since then, we have become great friends. Here is short video of Maria, talking about her experience in booking her holidays with me. Enjoy!... #TCExperience
10.01.2022 Today is Independence Day for Latvia , Morocco and Oman . Did you know that Latvia’s internet speed is one of the fastest in the World. Well above most countries. Did you that Morocco exports over 90,000 tons of dates every year. They also produce and export the most amount of sardines in the world. What a combo!... Omani’s are obsessed with Mountain Dew. As alcohol is banned in most of Oman except for 5 star hotels, Mountain Dew is often referred to as the Omani Alcohol. There are almost no Coca-Cola products in Oman. Although the Pepsi brand is massive.

Happy Independence Day Palestine!... Also like to mention the closing on Nadoc week today. This week I have been flying the three Australian flags in celebration of Nadoc week. Always was, always will be.
09.01.2022 Today in the Boo we celebrate Foundation Day of North Korea and Independence Day for Tajikistan . Happy National Day guys. Guess what! North Korea has that largest stadium in the World. With over 40,000 more seats than the second largest. Did you know that Tajikistan is the same size in land mass as UK but has the same over all population as London.
08.01.2022 There are no more National Days until the 15th so I thought I would share the actual news article. I was not expecting the front page. Thanks a million to the Mirboo North Times.
08.01.2022 What a beautiful day to celebrate Statehood Day Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republic Day Suriname . Did you know that Bosnia has a statue of a food can which is a memorial to the food aid given in the Siege of Sarajevo (Bosnian War). It was meant to be a nice gesture although it’s now more of a joke as most of the canned goods were left overs from the Vietnam War and had expired not to mention that majority of it was pork which half the population could not eat as half the population is Muslim. Suriname (Dutch speaking) along with its neighbour Guyana (English speaking) , they are the only non-Latin country in South America. Suriname is the most densely forested country in South America with over 80% being rainforest.

08.01.2022 Happy Tonga National Day, Tonga . Although the public holiday was on Monday Tonga’s actual national day is today. Did you know that not only is Tonga the only Sovereign Indigenous Monarchy in Oceania but King Taufa’ahau Tupou IV (King from 1965 until 2006) was also the heaviest monarch at approximately 210kg. He also then lost 75kg helping him to be the ambassador for good health in Tonga.

06.01.2022 Happy . Happy Independence Day Ukraine.
05.01.2022 Another beautiful morning here in Mirboo North. What a morning to celebrate the Independence Day of Mexico and Papua New Guinea as well as Malaysia Day for Malaysia . Philippines is thought to have the Worlds smallest volcano but this title actually belongs to Mexico. Just reaching 43 feet or thirteen metres Cuexcomate is the smallest Volcano in the World. Did you know at the closest point Papua New Guinea is only about 6km away from Australia.... Did you know that Malaysia is one of the only countries in the World with an elected Monarchy. There are nine royal houses and they each take it in turn to elect a King or Sultan from each of the houses. These monarchs are elected every five years.
04.01.2022 Some days it’s so hard to get a good picture when there is no wind. Today is the The Independence Day of Barbados and the Scottish national day of St Andrew’s Day (also known as Andermas) Did you know that the brand Mount Gay Rum is the oldest rum brand in the World. It was established in Barbados in 1703 and is still made there to this day and distributed to well over 100 countries.... Tomorrow we will celebrate The Republic of the Congo and Liechtenstein . Time wise it will be closer to them celebrating anyway (well thats how I will justify it to myself)

They celebrate their Independence Days along with Guatemala , Honduras and Nicaragua on the 15th of September. All of the above countries gained their independence from Spain in 1821.... 03.01.2022 Hmmmm I have a dilemma for tomorrow! I have three flag poles and four Independence Days. Republic of the Congo India ... Liechtenstein South Korea Should I: A: put a flag on the fence in front B: hang three flags and rotate one C: hang two tomorrow and two on Sunday as there are no national days on Sunday. I am leaning towards C?
