21.01.2022 When the gyms open again, and sport resumes, it will be important to develop the underpinning factors that lead to great performance. For rugby league players, in particular, front rowers, power development is crucial. Check out the video for ideas or see our site for more program options:
20.01.2022 WEEK 4 of TRAIN 2gether! This is the halfway point of the program that helps give you ideas about outdoor conditioning drills you can do with a partner! This week is recovery week, so you can consolidtae your fitness gains, and get ready to build for another 4 weeks! Any questions, or for more programming, let me know.
14.01.2022 Aerobic training is a great way to boost fitness levels across a wide range of sports: structured stressful training sessions can induce specific adaptations that will allow you to perform at a higher heart rate threshold, or recover faster during repeat sprint sports. For Gold Coasters, here is an 8km special at Oxenford lake: Lap 1- continuous at 90-100% of 5k pace. Lap 2- 250m jog/walk, 250m @ 4:30km pace, 250m @ <3.30km pace. #mattstevenstraining
08.01.2022 Week 3 of TRAIN2gether! Sessions are getting harder. Keep up the outdoor partner training while you can!
02.01.2022 Accentuated assistance training. Accentuated assistance emphasises stability in the eccentric component of movement. This enables the athlete to be in control, even though the external force is driving their body in the opposite direction. Many exercises that utilise resistance bands concentrate on the concentric phase of the movement, where you have to drive hard against the band, and as it lengthens, the resistance increases. But many times in sport, if the athlete does n...ot have an ability to show control through balance, they will fall. These accentuated assistance exercises help develop control in these aspects. The stability exercises could be used in the warm up of a general strength session, and the dynamic exercises could be used as a part of an activation series in a power or speed program. https://youtu.be/KQemjxQzBvw
