24.01.2022 Been a while since i posted, many things have been going on. My pride and joy xr6t fg has been punted off the road and is pending repair or write off. My best mate Mick has ridden the beige bandit for the first time ,long term project bike bought as a roller and bucket of bolts is now alive again !! massive achievement!!! Top shelf bourbon and cigars to celebrate!

24.01.2022 Ive been painfully trying to work out where to legally re mount my tailight and number plate for a while now. Finally found a spot im happy with. Modified a tail light / plate bracket i already had and re using my cat eye light i was previously running side mounted. The plate will look better black and have its own illumination!

16.01.2022 The xs650 is registered once again. The recent mods included. Fit wire wheels with new tires avon speesmaster front and metzeler me77 rear. Fabricate mount and relocate number plate and plate light. Modify mount and re mount tailight under seat.... Install new Biltwell whiskey throttle sleeve. New lowbrow customs beck marbled red grips. Install new micro switch housing for indicators and horn, hide all wiring in handlebars. Fit green neutral position light to bars. Paint brake rotor and various hardware on the bike black. Loving the new look and neater wiring and switches makes everything so much cleaner. Nothing left to do but ride it!

15.01.2022 We have touchdown! Bikes off the lift and ready for rego, except for the horn switch i fried from too much soldering heat.... It looks 10 years older with these wheels , and thats a good thing!

13.01.2022 Wire wheels finally a reality on the XS650!! Even not fully assembled they change the whole look of the bike. So stoked !!! Almost back on the road!!!

13.01.2022 Temporary fix untill the falcon goes in for some major rear end repairs in 2 weeks. Dont judge my welding it was done with my eyes closed! Hahaha Heres what it is to what it will be!

11.01.2022 Today was a little frustrating, chasing a wiring problem for hours while re wiring my tail light. Turned out the light housing itself had been rattled loose and the connections were junk.... hardtail life.... New light ordered and on the way.... Hit the shop again after dinner and got all rear wiring sorted for plate and taillights new positions. Taillight mount finished Worked out and started fabbing my plate mount.... Cut back all the horn indicator and neutral position light wiring and neatened up the loom, then wired up my 6 core cable that will sneak all the wires into my handlebars to the new switches. And finally tapped the bars and test mounted the new switch housing. After a pretty shit morning im feeling positive at the end of the day. See more

07.01.2022 The chunky home crafted horn and indicator switches were always going to be revised. Originally i just got something to work to get the bike registered and on the road. Time to clean things up, i scored this neat little mount with micro switches that clean everything up and run the wiring through the bars. Not quite done but already the before and after are looking good!

07.01.2022 The old girl has been through some hard times, bearings in the turbo went, another cv shaft died, snapped a header bolt in the block.... back together and got a well deserved clean. Still love this nugget!

06.01.2022 When you wrench on your car all weekend, fix exhaust leaks , adjust swaybars ,adjust handbrake, relocate battery and wiring, and no one knows the difference lol.

05.01.2022 So i finally re mounted the number plate and tail light on my xs650 for good. Fabbed up an aluminum plate mount, wired and fastened. Took ages to get the design right, painted everything black to get it to blend in. Time for a beer... Wheels on, front end back together then ready for rego!

04.01.2022 What an epic battle re fitting my turbo, had to get the pros in to get the snapped bolt and snapped "easy out" free from the cylinder head. Snapped a heater hose T piece in the process and had to go to 6 auto stores to find the 5 dollar replacement... Installed a new rear left cv shaft, put in the fresh turbo , oil and filter change, coolant topped off . Connect everything, started her , got her up to temp no leaks! 10 minute test drive , no leaks! Back on the road! Phew!

02.01.2022 So the braided rear brake lines for the falcon finally arrived, slapped them in pro pedal pumper Peter got the bleeding done. Cleaned my air filter and re oiled it while i was waiting for my tailshaft to be ready. It got a new uni, new centre bearing and mount and re balance, the guy even cleaned and painted it, looks like new! No more whining or 1st gear shudders, whole driveline feels so solid now. Also had to start the car while the exhaust was unbolted ... You know!... All good things! Have a great weekend everyone See more
