25.01.2022 H A P P Y F A T H E R S D A Y We hope all of the wonderful Dads, Heros, Adventurers, Story-Tellers and Singers of Songs in our lives have a wonderful day today To the men in my family who are Dads - my husband, father-in-law, Pa, my brothers, brothers-in-law, nephews and especially my late Dad, thank you for being the most incredible fathers our family could ask for. The love, support, guidance and adventure you bring to our lives fills my heart with joy ... Bx
22.01.2022 P A T I E N C E From tomorrow we are required to keep a contact tracing register. This will mean that EVERYONE entering the shop will need to either scan in on the provided QR code or complete the manual contact tracing register. As most of you know the shop is run by one person and at this busy time of year especially I would appreciate your cooperation in making this a smooth process. The contact tracing register is not optional for me as a business so in order for me ...to continue I need your support in making this work. Please be patient with me as we navigate our way through this. Bx
22.01.2022 Guys we’ve just taken delivery of some gorgeous framed images of Rapid Bay jetty by local photographer Shane Grocke from Fleurieu Imagery We so proud to have these stunning images of our beautiful local area available for you! Head over to Fleurieu Imagery and give him a follow to see more of his work!... Bx
21.01.2022 So you would have all heard by now we are once again entering a stage of not leaving our homes for anything that isn’t essential. As much as I love what I do and I love all of you, my little shop is not an essential service and so I will be closing after today for the next 6 days. This is a very difficult time of the year to close for any period of time but I strongly believe it is the right thing to do. The health and wellbeing of our whole community needs to be our priority... right now. Let’s do this now and hopefully we will be back open by this time next week I have a few back of house jobs that I plan to get to over the next few days and I think I might binge some Netflix (hello season 4 of The Crown!!!) and try to make a dent in my reading pile Stay safe, look after each other, be patient and BE KIND! See you soon, Bx
21.01.2022 How stunning is this mural Nicole is painting on our building We can’t wait to see the finished product! Bx
20.01.2022 I am notoriously bad at booking in to get my hair done and as a consequence I go obscenely long between cuts My crazy hair has reached the point that it NEEDS urgent attention I will be open a little late (hopefully by midday) Wednesday 25th November as I’ve been able to book a last minute appointment to get it sorted!... Thanks, Bx
18.01.2022 U N - P A U S E I’m not going to lie, I enjoyed most of my unexpected 3 day mini-break. I wasn’t as productive as I could have been and I’m totally ok with that! But like all holidays & breaks, this time has come to an end. We’re happy SA isn’t in the grip of a longer lockdown and we’ll be back open tomorrow morning from 10am.... We hope this time hasn’t been too stressful for you all and you’ve been able to enjoy a few days at a slower pace. Bx
18.01.2022 Women Don’t Owe You Pretty We really don’t! New books on store now..... ... Bx
18.01.2022 My little Parry has an ulcer on his eye from a food scavenging adventure that went wrong. His little eye is sore & swollen We had to make a trip to town to get him seen today and he needs some regular medicating through the day so unfortunately I won’t be back in time to open. We appreciate your understanding. We hope you’ve had a lovely school holidays and a relaxing long weekend!... Bx (& Parry )
17.01.2022 It’s all happening in our little part of the town today! This morning the team from the council depot are dismantling the boundary fence and opening up the new park across the road from us! We realise it is a temporary green space but we hope you all love it as much as we do and that it stays I’ve been fortunate enough to watch most of the work happening outside our front window and the council depot team deserve a huge pat on the back for the work they have done. Everyth...ing has been done in-house, no outsourcing! This means our talented and multi skilled council depot team have completed every job there themselves, including the landscaping, tiling and electrical work. Great job guys! You’ll also notice over the next few weeks that the wall between my shop and the entry to the supermarket is getting a facelift! The very talented Nicole Black & Chelsea Nicholls are brightening up the 4 large panels along that wall with stunning, nature focused murals. It’s going to look amazing and we can’t wait to see the finished product Bx
17.01.2022 THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME I’m loving these new door mats Bx
15.01.2022 Hey guys! You all loved the last lot of Fleurieu Imagery pictures we had here and Shane has just delivered a new collection to us! We all so have a couple of his canvases here too. These would make a great Christmas gift if you’re on the hunt for something really special ... Bx
15.01.2022 This morning my middle son was involved in a vehicle accident. He is ok, thankfully only sustaining cuts & bruises and a bit of a bang to the head. He’s home and and very lucky not to have been injured any more seriously. Thankfully his car did it’s job and protected him. I’d like to say a big thank you to the 3 local women who stopped and assisted him. I am so grateful to you all for looking after him until I got there and the ambulance came. Thank you for sorting out the ca...r for us so I could focus on him. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and support. A special thank you to the local CFS crew and SAPOL members who attended and to Nicki and her partner from SA Ambulance who looked after him and got him to the hospital for me. Thank you to Sam from Sam’s Service Centre for sorting the car out for us. And finally thank you to the shop full of customers who packed up and left when I got the call and needed to walk out the door. I truly appreciate your kindness and understanding. Give your children a big hug tonight. I’m going to have a big drink and a big cry and hold my babies closer than I ever have. Bx
15.01.2022 A little post mini-lockdown humour to celebrate being able to re-open early Bx
12.01.2022 Oh guys I hate to do this but I will be closed today as my little puppy has injured his eye and needs a vet ASAP! If we can get him sorted early and I’m home I’ll open a little later today Bx
12.01.2022 Hey guys! I have Mum duty on Thursday morning so we will be opening a little late. My boys are nearly grown and the opportunities for me to be with them and help support their school are rapidly running out. Over the years, as a working parent, I have missed many school functions so when there is an opportunity for me to be there and get involved I try to take it, even if it means I have to close early or open late occasionally. M&F is a one person show so I do need to occa...sionally adjust my hours because life still happens for my family outside of the shop. Our local school is a small public school that relies on parents getting involved and volunteering. The little kids look forward to the Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stall every year to come along and purchase a ‘surprise’ gift for their parents. It honestly makes my heart burst watching them make their choices and work out what they want and what their Mum will love. My own home is filled with years of gifts that my sons have chosen for me from the school stall (the mugs are almost unbreakable ) I really appreciate your understanding to help me maintain a balance between bringing M&F to you all and being Mum to my sons while they need me still. Bx
10.01.2022 How cute are these baby products! They ALMOST make me wish I had a baby in my life Bx #someonehaveababyformetoplaywith
08.01.2022 R U OK? Today is R U OK Day and we’d like to remind you that YOU have got what it takes to change someone’s life! Simply taking the time to ask the question R U OK?... Listen without judgement Encourage action Check in It might just save a life And the MOST important message is It’s Ok To NOT Be Ok! Its not easy to allow yourself to be vulnerable, I get it! I struggle to ask for help and I struggle to accept it when it’s offered. There have been time this year though that have brought me to my knees and while I have repeatedly said, ‘I’m fine, I’ll be ok’, I’ve been lucky enough to have a persistent few who have taken the time to check in and really make sure I’m being honest with them and myself. I’m eternally grateful to them for their love and support and for giving me a safe place to answer that question honestly and without judgement. You never know when that question might be all a person needs and the follow up can make all the difference So, R U OK? Bx #ruok #askthequestion #mentalhealth #weareallinthistogether
