20.01.2022 Be open to the experience is what resonates in me at this moment, as I am about to board a flight to Bali. Travels create markers in time, out of the every day life, that put to light where we come from and where we are heading. I feel such fulfilment when I look at what I have lived and achieved this year so far and a huge sense of happiness and excitement for all the projects and surprises I have up coming for you till the end of the year! But before them, I commit to be here, fully, every moment along the way. . Photograph by Nick, the kindest at @fortgreenyoga @fortgreen

14.01.2022 How deep is your sleep? Only a few spots open for Voyage to Sound Sleep on Sunday. Why quality sleep is crucial to your health and wellbeing...? Matthew Walker, is a British scientist and professor in neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. His research focuses on the impact of sleep on human health and disease. He states that every major physiological system within the body and every single operation of the brain is enhanced when we sleep and... tremendously impaired when we don’t get enough sleep. There are two main sleep cycles that alternate every 90 min: REM and non-REM (for Rapid Eye Movement). Non-REM sleep is considered as ‘deep sleep’, which is further subdivided in four other stages, each stage corresponding to a different brain wave pattern. The slower the brain wave movement (down to about 2/4 waves per sec) the deeper the sleep. REM can be divided in two stages, depending on the speed of eye movement. There is no ONE single stage of sleep that does it all. Deep non-REM sleep is essential to fixate new memories in the brain and it also helps restore the physiology - recalibrate the cardiovascular, hormonal and metabolic systems and refresh immune system. REM sleep however assists in cognitive functions. All stages of sleep are important and have a primordial role to play in restoring/maintaining a healthy balance in the body-mind.
