07.01.2022 FROM MY CUSTOMER It’s literally in the woods! My two friends and I decided when driving past to have a late lunch at The Woods, and are very glad we did. This relaxed and casual restaurant, situated on the escarpment and boasting beautiful views, is the home of The Barefoot Baker, maker of artisan breads sold at local markets. Our share-plate came with slices of the famous sourdough, and we were given some more upon request. There was a delicious selection of dips, oliv...es, and a yummy onion pickled in cinnamon and other spices. Chef Sunny originally came from Mauritius, and his use of exotic ingredients was evident in our choice. A bottle of Italian Pinot Grigio was a perfect accompaniment. Baker Ed and chef Sunny both came out to speak to us, which was a friendly touch. The Woods is making an important contribution to the growing image of this area as a foodie’s destination.
