23.01.2022 ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: SHOGO NAKAMURA 329... With the 32nd Summer Games originally set to start this weekend in Tokyo, Japan, we acknowledge the void of this great event and instead set our target to next year. One that is especially excited about next year is Japan’s own Marathon star - Shogo Nakamura. Having earned the top spot with a wild finish in the qualifying race last September and securing a coveted ticket to Tokyo, Shogo is now aiming for another great performance. We spoke to him about the running culture in Japan and his thoughts on his upcoming race next year. We have the EKIDEN in Japan which is quite unique as a long distance running race competed by teams instead of individuals and it has a huge following here. With regards to the Olympics, we are obviously all facing a very difficult situation in the world, but I hope that the games can provide hope for all athletes and also move the hearts of marathon fans all over the world by running an excellent race next year."

19.01.2022 ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: KASIA NIEWIADOMA The month of January is always busy for elite cyclists. Intense training camps, equipment testing and time to shift focus for the upcoming season. Although times may be a little bit different this time around, the passion and love for the sport never ceases for pro cyclist Katarzyna ’Kasia’ Niewiadoma. We met up with her in the Mecca of Cycling - Girona - to hear her thoughts on how her mindset has helped her in her career: For me, cy...cling has always been about a sense of freedom, being able to clear the mind and also connecting with people through the sport. I feel at this stage of my career that I am much experienced and more mentally strong. Looking forward, I know what I want to achieve to feel fully satisfied with my career and that is winning an Olympic medal. 17.01.2022 We are very excited to announce that @jakebirtwhistle has joined the Maurten family. Jake is Australia’s number one male triathlete and currently sits in 4th place in the world standings. Jake finished 2nd at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and enters 2021 with the goal of winning gold in the Tokyo Olympics and also becoming World Champion. Jake hails from Launceston, Tasmania. He splits his time between home, Europe and the US training and competing with the best athletes in the World. #maurten

04.01.2022 Our sincere congratulations to @joshuacheptegei for breaking the 5,000-meter World Record on Friday night in Monaco, also smashing his own PB by a whopping 20 seconds in the making. An incredible feat in every way, Cheptegei managed to best the 16-year old previous record set by legend @kenenisabekele_42 back in 2004. Pacing himself to absolute perfection through the race, Cheptegei delivered an astonishing performance for the world to witness and we can’t wait to follow his bright future. 03.01.2022 ATHLETE OF THE MONTH: PERES JEPCHIRCHIR In a year where racing have been scarce, Valencia Marathon was something very special. Peres Jepchirchir won the race and completely obliterated her previous PB by a whopping 6 minutes plus crossing the finish line in 2:17:16 (5th all-time) . We spoke to Peres, the 27-year-old Kenyan, about her incredible performance and what running means to her: "It was a fantastic day and I knew I was ready to run fast. Already having set the WR in... the half-marathon earlier in the year it gave me confidence that I was in the right direction also for the marathon distance. The mind was ready and the body responded." "Running means everything to me. It has changed my life - allowed me to help my family and also visit so many countries in the world and meet so many people. My goal for next year is to be selected for the Kenyan Team at the Olympic Games and try to win a medal in Tokyo. #maurten

02.01.2022 ATHLETE / EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: MUSTAFA MOHAMED This weekend @mustafamohamed79 fulfilled his dream and broke the #Swedish marathon record, finishing the #sevillamarathon in 02:10:03. Mustafa (a.k.a. Musse) is a household name in Sweden after an outstanding career on the track where he challenged the steeplechase world elite for years. ... Besides being a national icon that covers 160+ km per week and goes to altitude training camps every now and then, he also spends his days in our Gothenburg HQ taking care of our Nordic customers. The last ten years has been all about longer distances and chasing the national marathon record. And finally Musse made it, at the age of 40. Born and raised in the heart of Sweden with nature always present, she does it all with a sincerely humble approach and let her performances do all the talking.
