24.01.2022 It's been a tough year for a lot of us. Right when I was feeling a little ho-hum this morning some lovely clients stopped in to wish me a Merry Christmas. Those scratchies might just be the ticket and then another lovely client dropped in a bottle too #peoplearesokind

24.01.2022 Two-way quarantine-free flights between New Zealand and Australia are available to book now for travel from 19 April 2021. For full details including "What customers should do to prepare for quarantine-free travel" please contact me [email protected] I tend to be quite cautious so anyone wanting to holiday across the ditch it's with the knowledge that the situation can change at any time. For instance Air New Zealand are not doing refunds, full credits only. If that doesn't sit well with you, then don't book. If you do, it's also with the knowledge that I will do any and all re-booking and sorting for you. Saving you all that angst and many hours of work. #newzealandisbackbaby #supportlocal

23.01.2022 Feeling the love from some appreciative clients who popped in to also wish me a Merry Christmas. Loving the cashola, much appreciated thanks Roz and Pam #cashisking #beingappreciatedfeelsgood

23.01.2022 So excited to be booking some amazing Australian holidays with APT and their new air tours by Private Jet. Covering distances in our vast land makes these trips ideal and they are so well priced from $5,195pp #aptouring #supportlocalbusiness and of course seeing my smiling BDM Janelle and having a catchup made my day. Thank you lovely lady for your in-person visit.

23.01.2022 Well it was probably done with less fanfare than was originally intended..a long time coming #planenerds

22.01.2022 Norfolk Island is a lovely option for those who want a holiday with a bit of an overseas feel to it. No known cases of COVID and no quarantining at all for us fortunate enough to be living here in Queensland. This particular video of Urzila Carlson particularly took our fancy. Enjoy.

22.01.2022 Remember those words??

22.01.2022 We are sharing this article published by the ABC this morning, as it is the most accurate account we have seen to date explaining what our role as a travel agent is right now. We are going to require support to see this through. https://www.abc.net.au//billions-tied-up-in-cance/12518578

22.01.2022 Bookings within Australia are going a bit nuts - how wonderful - a reminder not to leave it too late especially for those unique, iconic, bucket list trips #supportlocalbusiness #traveliscomingback

21.01.2022 Hi, Sandi here. I’m up at the amazing Fraser Island this week. 4 days and 3 nights in a 2 bedroom spa villa at Kingfisher Bay Resort was just what my family needed. With its lush rainforest, sand dunes and 100’s of freshwater lakes, Fraser Island or as the Butchulla people call it, ‘K’gari’ (meaning paradise) is the place to be.. As Queenslanders, we are so blessed to have such beautiful places we can still visit.. Fraser Island is the worlds biggest sand island with World ...Continue reading

19.01.2022 It's always lovely when clients take the time to give us an all important google review, those in business will relate to this. When we saw this one this morning - well, it made our day, hell, it made our week, our month our year! I don't think I have ever seen such a glowing review. We have worked so hard and had so many challenges these last 3 months, all for no income, to have our efforts appreciated means the world to us and we are sure she won't mind me sharing her rev...Continue reading

16.01.2022 We aren't doing many bookings at the moment so it's always exciting when we do. Thank you Betty for your support. And also thank you to Azamara cruises for sorting out a tricky situation for us and making us look good! Much appreciated

16.01.2022 Ah the good 'old days (meaning pre 2020) #fridayfunny

16.01.2022 Attending Viking expedition dinner with David who has been there 120 times. Yes. 120 times! Other countries are back to booking at pre-pandemic levels so we are urging our clients to think about what they'd like to experience in the future. If you see a cruise or trip you like, book it paying a small deposit all covered by their risk free guarantee. Otherwise by the time we get the green light they will be fully booked. Last week we tried to book a couple of trips in 2023. We booked one, the other was sold out so we booked that for 2024. So we suggest you don't dilly dally. Hope that helps with your planning #antarcticaexpedition #arctic #hurryup

16.01.2022 What game is this? Two nights ago we were in Charlesville, restaurants booked up, as were the tours (must book the Cosmos centre ahead and rug up, it gets very cold at night) good to see. Next morning we did the nature timber walk around the park, named best in Queensland last year. And we came across this. We'd not seen it before..do you know the game? #charlesville #roadtrip #queensland @ Charleville, Queensland, Australia

15.01.2022 Unlike Wendy I quite like a bit of banter when I travel - one of the many joys of travelling I say. However I know quite a few people who may appreciate this tip #FridayFunny

15.01.2022 Today I am starting Frivolity Friday - i am going to be posting a pic of me wearing some jewellery or accessory that I purchased from some fabulous trip I have done. Today I am wearing my garnet earrings I purchased in the Cesky Krumlov on an APT river cruise famil. Many years ago. #yourturn #frivolityfriday

14.01.2022 So interesting

14.01.2022 Tasmania opened it's borders yesterday for some states including Queensland. For more information on travel to Tasmania, visit www.coronavirus.tas.gov.au/travellers-an/coming-to-tasmania.

13.01.2022 One of my loveliest clients wanted to thank me for something I pulled off the day before she was going to Tassie. She said she initially wanted to bring me flowers and thought, I think I can do better than that. She is so creative and I love it. Of course I won't be spending it as it looks far too cool #moneyflowers #supportlocal #mavericktravelaustralia

13.01.2022 happy Thursday

11.01.2022 And on a not so lighter note. At 4.51pm today we received confirmation of Suspension of quarantine-free travel between Victoria and New Zealand. Starts tonight 7.59pm for 72 hours. Full details can be found here: https://www.airnzagent.com.au/covid-19-coronavirus-flexibil Extra difficult when such short notice is given. Making travel almost unworkable at the moment

11.01.2022 This is what we have been pushing for from Insurance companies to federal government otherwise we aren't comfortable booking people. Well done Emirate for leading the pack. This is very welcome news. https://www.emirates.com//emirates-covers-customers-from-/

11.01.2022 First flight since coronavirus. Those that know me know I have been exceedingly cautious from the get go. I do have mask, disposable gloves, wipes and sanitizer. Plenty of social distancing before we get on the plane so didn't use wipes until onboard. Paid a few $$ extra for exit row, more room and also happens the seats next to me are vacant. Not always the case, that's luck. Made a bit of a morning out of it, my gorgeous friend Shannon picked me up, we had breakfast at Asco...t and she then did the airport run. No self check-in, apparently that will be back next week. Merlo coffee open, had a glass of Malbec with David at Wine selectors, then a little chat with Ashley who is our pilot to Mackay whilst waiting for coffee. Very pleasant and very excited about seeing my delicious man for the weekend #planes #istilllovetravelling #wereallyaretheluckycountry #younglove @ Virgin Australia Terminal Brisbane Airport See more

10.01.2022 Driving from Aramac in Western Queensland, 40 scrap metal sculptures pop up along the Lake Dunn Sculpture Trail. Local artist, Milynda Rogers, handcrafted these pieces to represent Outback Queensland. With school holidays just around the corner, Queenslanders can travel throughout our state to help local businesses unite and recover.... And the Lake Dunn Sculpture Trail is a great place to start. Call us at Maverick Travel and let us create a magical Qld adventure for you #thisisqueensland

09.01.2022 Royal Caribbean International have released their 2021/2022 cruises... where will your next cruise take you?

09.01.2022 This is in our own back yard... Fraser Island has something for everyone

08.01.2022 Great initiative by the Northern Territory tourism. Good news is valid when booked through us #nttourismvouchers #nttourism #supportlocalbusiness

06.01.2022 Looks like good news for Virgin Airlines https://karryon.com.au//virgin-australia-masterplan-3000-/

05.01.2022 In addition to sorting out the carnage of the holidays we had booked for all our lovely clients. Myself personally I am lobbying hard for on-going tailored support for travel agents so we can continue getting all these refunds for clients. As well as lobbying to bring home Australians who are often in dire situations, they need to be able to return home. It's inhumane. Joanne Harding-Smith

05.01.2022 Virgin Australia update - please share with anyone you know who currently has credit/unused tickets with Virgin as there is a tight deadline. The FAQ document is still being refined by Virgin Australia and we await its publication. The Future Flight Credit Policy will enable an extension of travel validity up to 31Jul 2022, we do note that the policy references that the tickets will need to be exchanged by 31st October 2020 to secure the extension, however we are verifying this with Virgin Australia. Failure to do so by this deadline could mean a forfeit so time is of the essence. For client of ours reading this, nothing for you to do, I will be doing them all tomorrow....cheers Joanne

05.01.2022 After doing a pre-recording for ABC radio news the Chief of Staff asked if I would go on camera and they came and interviewed it will be on the ABC news tonight. The angle of the story is about extended the moratorium against evictions for residents - however it requires an on-going tailored approach. For me working harder than ever for zero $$ and a 97.3% drop in income - if the govt wants us to keep working so we can return the $10 billion worth of travel into the community then they need to support us by extending the emergency period for us - not all industries, just the ones decimated by the border closures. Already had Nikki Boyd here and Peter Dutton's office on the phone. I also got a chance to voice about my ATO issue and changes required for insurances going forward.

04.01.2022 I am experiencing problems with the office phone line, cuts straight over to answering service. Technicians currently working on it. Hopefully will be fixed soon. And yes, I did pay my phone bill...

03.01.2022 Thank you Craig for sharing this segment with us. Craig is an old travel mate who retired a year or so ago after having sold his travel agency in Toowoomba. He has come out of retirement to assist the owner during this mess. Unfortunately these segments are very few and far between for us local "bricks and mortar" travel agencies. Instead we are being vilified in the media and all tarred with the same brush. Hurts. https://www.facebook.com/81985202121/posts/10158773760107122/

03.01.2022 So we finally became page 3 girls. We are using humour (as we do during challenging times as it helps), whilst proudly showing today's article in our local paper, The Village Pump which featured us. Thank you Editor #thevillagepump #moretonbaytough #travelindustry #supportlocal

01.01.2022 We found this post from someone arriving into Hong Kong yesterday very informative. Especially for people having to travel at the moment. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10222697150599108&id=1284080652

01.01.2022 Air Canada changed their refund policy last week after a govt. bailout. Previously no refunds, credits only. If you know anyone who purchased their own tickets please share this with them. Details can be found on their website aircanada.com/refund Main point though is must apply by 12Jun2021, so don't dilly dally. I have submitted all of my client ones already. #aircanada #travelrefunds

01.01.2022 Especially after the stupidity and selfishness we have witnessed during the last 24 hours. Having our faith restored that for the most part, people are very kind and thoughtful. Thank you to a very lovely, long term client Betty & Garry for appreciating all our hard work and efforts during this time, and for gifting us a bottle from your favourite winery down in Tassie - Grey Sands Vineyard. Definitely on our list to visit when we get there next time #supportlocalbusiness #samford #kindnessmatters

01.01.2022 Australia is opening up .... If you’re looking to book a holiday in our spectacular country ... please think about how you are booking it and consider supporting your local travel agent and the local people they employ. Thank you
