04.01.2022 About us- Melissa Beal My name is Melissa and I am one of the Designers and Gemmologists at MAX Diamonds. I first started working here in 2001 before I decided to pack up it all up and travel the world. I loved my job so much that fortunately that they welcomed me back when I returned to Australia in 2008. I’ve been with MAX Diamonds ever since! Over the years so far I have experienced some incredibly special moments. I love hearing people’s stories about how they met and w...hy they’ve decided to get married. I also love hearing about how they are planning to propose. One of my recent favourites was a private helicopter trip around the whitsunday’s were my customer proposed to her partner. They celebrated after on the beautiful white sands with wine and picnic for two. It has been an honor to help so many same sex couples with their engagement & wedding rings. We promoted same sex marriage before it was legalised and celebrated when it was! I love playing a small part in people’s special day and seeing photos of and hearing about the wedding day. I am obsessed with the small details and realise what a huge responsibility it is to create such a special and sentimental piece of jewellery. Sometimes the jobs I find the most exciting are remodelling breathing new life into or adapting/modernising jewellery that has been passed down through generations. 04.01.2022 About us- Alex Barnes (Lane) Over the 17 years I have worked here I have had the privilege of working on some very special, meaningful projects for clients. I have been able to share in the nerves of someone in love about to propose observing a huge amount of thought and planning in the design, the choice of diamond or gemstone and the proposal itself. Once I even helped a customer with his proposal! Dropping a rose petal trail to the final treasure the ring! We had an ...in-store proposal too a few years ago which I’ll ever forget. I have helped people remodel old, worn family jewellery, or strengthened it to allow its new owner to still retain the sentimental meaning but be proud to wear it every day. I am constantly touched by the love shown in the choice of gifts for anniversaries (many in the decades) and the truly beautiful gifts chosen for birthdays, push presents and just to say how much that person means to them. Sometimes the best response from a client is a simple repolish! The look when we return a loved engagement ring looking like it did on its first day is priceless. I am truly humbled to be able to be a part of such personal and emotional experiences (and am a true soppy romantic at heart myself!). I love to be able to work with the most incredibly talented jewellers, bringing what I have learned, and teaching people about metals, diamonds, gemstones and design ideas to help people create these beautiful, treasured pieces. Covid-19 has changed the world for everyone, but through it I have seen some of the best in people, and I’m so grateful of the support we have had from customers old and new.
