23.01.2022 THE FIRE OF TRANSFORMATION I would like to offer some thoughts on some other C words - as we face the Corona virus. Remember a virus challenges your immune system - so whatever stresses and issues you have had a long time in your life will show up under new stress. This virus, like any, is a chance to review our lives - in and around the turmoil and group panic - and get rid of whatever long term stresses we have ALLOWED to keep threatening our health. And that means physica...Continue reading

05.01.2022 on times of change - a piece I wrote 5 years ago: ONE RIVER There are currents moving in the nearby river mouth one along the inside and outside shores of the river that emerges in the opening to the sea - and another stronger one in the middle. I wasn’t brave enough to swim across when we visited in awe of the two speeds at the one time. ... However this morning I realise I am being braver that I realise being with the inside currents of change in my world: there is a fast and deep current emerging, propelling my life into the next phase. Its urge is inevitable, irresistible, and arising from deep within my desire to open into the fragrant future that is hovering like the small frangipani tree outside the front door here. The other is a much slower current drawing me internally where I am needing to watch, rest, nap, hold near to the edges of my life. The vulnerability I feel about launching out into the faster current becomes apparent in my hesitation, in the what ifs arising in my mind, and the fragile perception of the delicate way flowers of great beauty can open up and fully give of themselves to life, sun, air, delight, then fade into death of form. The dissolution of the world I know now frightens me, and I realise the levels of my attachments the anchors I have been holding to steady myself in buffeting winds across the water of my so-far-life. I have compasses internal and external to navigate with myself, and lights in the teachings, wise ones, and practices that fill my world. Yet I realise only I can navigate now through these rapids, eddys and shallows. Richness beyond belief this free floating time of re-form-ation. Not being who you think you are Not being able to see the shore. Not being clear of the next port. So here I am dancing with deep tides of inevitable movement. Flow and ease carrying me, towards Vistas of far valleys, timeless views and expansive lifetimes. Yes vistas. Wordless knowing. Curiosity. Two speeds. One river. In everything you do, all of you is involved. S. Heller, The Dance of Becoming

01.01.2022 Recall the way you are all possibilities you can see and how you live best as an appreciator of horizons whether you reach them or not. ... Admit that once you have got up from your chair and opened the door, once you have walked out into the clean air toward that edge and taken the path up high beyond the ordinary, you have become the privileged and the pilgrim, the one who will tell the story and the one, coming back from the mountain, who helped to make it.
