25.01.2022 Hedging in February? In the years I’ve been gardening I haven’t experienced such mild weather during this time of the year making it fine to give a clients’ hedge a good old cut back. The second photo is of a creeper called Muehlenbeckia. It grows like crazy but perfect if you’re looking for a dense screen.

21.01.2022 Shade + limited space = not many options? Think again. This garden bed gets mainly shade which contained 1 fuchsia doing pretty good, two struggling gardenias and not a whole lot else. I ended up getting rid of the dead gardenia and moving the other one to a pot. Then with the client we chose an array of shade loving plants which vary in foliage, size, some are ground covers and one climber. The client is still yet to install a bird bath which will add the finishing touch to her shaded garden bed.

13.01.2022 Voila! A new rendered, raised, black garden bed, bluestone pavers planted out with dichondra in between the gaps and new Buffalo grass in between. A large reason I ended up getting the job is because we decided to reinforce the back fence with extra posts and sleepers (the other people who quoted didn't allow for this). When you raise a garden bed that high all that new soil becomes a lot of pressure on the fence. It will eventually give in over time.... The dichondra repens plants between the bluestone pavers will eventually fill out so it's completely green in between the gaps. The client wanted to put grass between the pavers however I advised against this as there wasn't enough light for this. I'm really happy with the way it all turned out. The client was very happy with the final result.

08.01.2022 Do plants get lonely? Not that I know for sure if plants get lonely, but I do know that this struggling string of pearls has been growing better ever since I moved it from a position by itself to a new position next to this other succulent. If you have a struggling/slow growing houseplant at home that's by itself, just for an experiment try moving it next to another plant (if light conditions are still ideal) and see if it improves.

03.01.2022 Before and after in front of the gallery in Daylesford town centre. I planted privet hedge along the back wall and mondo grass in the front (before it was just filled with weeds). I then mulch around all plants. Finally I installed synthetic grass to finish it off. #artificialgrass #gardenmakeover #thatlooksbetter #maximumgrowthlandscaping #syntheticgrassinstallation #maximumgrowthgrass
