25.01.2022 Standing up for Personal Trainers across Victoria! Enterprise Fitness is featured in the Herald Sun today, screaming out so the fitness industry can be heard. The fitness industry in Melbourne is set to be closed FOR 9 MONTHS, thanks to Andrew's Labor government. It's destroying trainers, businesses and the physical and mental health of Victorians.... We call for no confidence. Personal training studios can operate, keeping our clients safe from COVID. Personal Training studios have the best checks and balances in any industry, with on-site temperature screening before entry, mandatory washing of hands-on arrival, not to mention the very best contact tracing in any industry as everything is by appointment. The concept that personal training studios are sweat boxes where everyone sweats on top of each other is an old outdated idea, and we invite the CHO to inspect our facility for himself to see the high standards at which we operate. But, they have kept us out of any consultation - a shame as personal trainers are the front line of mental health for so many. This lockdown is costing livelihoods across Victoria and will be the end of many businesses. The untold misfortune of good Victorians is rampant and we call for our government to do better. Please share this article and support the Fitness industry and trainers in Melbourne. Let our message be heard. Fitness Australia

23.01.2022 The Truth About Trans Fats and Hydrogenated Oils Hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils are without a doubt one of the most insidious food items lurking on supermarket shelves. 22.01.2022 In business, if small things make you angry you will stay small. I'm the first to admit, when I got started in business, the smallest stuff would annoy, frustrate or even anger me. As I've matured and gotten wiser, you just have to let the small stuff go.. It's not worth the time, energy or attention. Each day you wake with only so many units of energy which you can use. If you use them all up on a lot of small things.... forgot about tackling that big thing. And its the big ...things that move you forward. So if you want to have more and be bigger, think bigger. If small scale shit upsets you, realise you won't move beyond that until YOU move beyond that. I've had staff members lie, cheat, steal, betray and discredit me... and I use to get so upset when a staff member would leave... Not that I want staff members to leave (unless they need to leave), however, its a part of business. The show goes on. I can't control 'them' however I CAN control my reaction to them. I deal in facts, not emotions, and if you want to sleep easier at night, I suggest you do the same. Man or Woman, are about as big as the things that make them angry #BusinessLesson See more

22.01.2022 As the lockdown period has been extended, we want to make the best of a bad situation and bring people together with exercise... So this week we launched Enterprise LIVE Daily Workouts; were running daily exercise classes online! We went back and forth about how much to charge for this service but ultimately decided that we wanted our classes to be filled with as much of the Enterprise community as possible. Hence the classes are our gift with compliments to all past and pre...sent Enterprise Fitness clients as a way to keep our community connected (and If you're reading this and not an Enterprise Fitness client and want to join the daily fun, we have a weekly subscription available for a small fee. Just send us a message and we can get you involved! The classes are designed by our Enterprise coaches and each session has not one, but two of our expert coaches. Weve designed all sessions to be conducted with just bodyweight, but if you do have dumbbells or a barbell (or a small to medium size child that can jump on your back) theres definitely room to incorporate a little extra resistance into our routines. Above all else, we want to bring our community back to you and inject some fun and exercise into your lockdown routine! If you want to join the fun just let us know

21.01.2022 There was a time when I would post my most random thoughts on social media. Then social media burnt me. I realised I put too much stake in what others thought, so I distanced myself. In that process, I graduated from my random, often thought-provoking posts for a systemised, effective and proper social media advertising schedule. In other words; I spent money on content and posts to be seen.... This made me better because if I was going to spend money just for content to be seen; it had to be good- AND targeted to people who would actually end up buying from me. Less (random) people "liked" my content, but the people who did were the right people. And with that my business grew and my social media "popularity" decline. Better yet, I no longer had to even open my social media. In fact, I went so far to install a feed-blocker on my web browser so I would no longer be distracted. Social media reminds me of the famous Greek story of the Sirens, where the men aboard the ships hear delightful singing from what they assume are beautiful women. The ship crashes, the women are witches and the men die Or something like that. Social media lures you in with the promise of being seen, understood, connected and even being popular or famous. What it doesn't show you is how so many #Influencers are broke, unhappy and obsess with how many people like or follow. I will never trust my fate to popularity. That can be taken away as fast as it's given. So If you're on social media for business purposes, then be on social media for business purposes. Popularity is optional.

20.01.2022 YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO MONEY - Growing up, money was something we never had 'enough' of. As a kid it was elusive to me, I wanted to understand how it worked and why some people had more of it than others. - My parents never said things like 'money doesn't grow on trees' or 'people with money must be con-artists', it was just never discussed and when asked, the response was always the same, "That's none of your business"....Continue reading

19.01.2022 WHATS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IVE MADE AS A BUSINESS OWNER? This is a question I often get asked. As yet, I dont have a biggest mistake. Ive made many mistakes and each has taught me valuable lessons. Every mistake feels like the biggest at the time. But after a while, you begin to realise its simply just a bump in the road towards greater things.... There are always trade-offs in business and decision making. Decisions will never be mistake-proof' as mistakes themselves are a matter of perception. Was it a mistake? Or was it a lesson to learn in order to proceed to the next level? To date, some of the most valuable mistakes and lessons Ive learnt is around staffing and people. You want to be good to your people without compromising your standards. Never compromise your standards. You need to find the right team who get that and get you. For the right people, it will feel like coming home. For the wrong people, they will feel constantly under attack. Be ok with that; some will get it, some wont. Be good to your people. Be uncompromising with yourself.

17.01.2022 A tree has to dig down to prevent the elements, such as wind, from pushing it over. The stronger the winds, the deeper the tree has to dig. As the tree grows bigger, more strength is needed to hold onto the earth. If this tree is going to reach the heights of heaven, its roots will have to reach the depths of hell. You have to go to hell and survive. Do this, and you will have what it takes to make it to heaven. Dig deep, stand tall and push through.

17.01.2022 He travelled from Canada TWICE just to see me Wanna know why? Well, he needed help with his personal training business, and before leaving for Melbourne, we chatted over the phone, and found that his main struggle was hiring and maintaining trainers in his gym. There was no way I was going to let him fly across the world without us getting to the bottom of this.... Low and behold - we got to the root of the issue in the first day of Wolfpack. As a mentor, my goal is to see my trainers SUCCEED. I aim to OVER-DELIVER to ensure they can get the long-lasting results they came to Wolfpack for And thats exactly what we were able to achieve with Francois. Years on, his still part of the program and kicking on. Want more results? DM me and lets chat

17.01.2022 A State of Disaster. Melbourne... here are some stats to chew on: As of 31st of July 2020: -Total tests: 1,608,452... -Tested negative: 1,597,975 -Negative rate: 99.342% -Confirmed positive: 10,577 -Positive rate: 0.658% -Deaths: 112 -106 above the age of 60 years and with pre-existing medical conditions. -Case-fatality ratio: 1.06% The whole point of lockdown was to flatten the curve so that our hospitals could cope. Stats on that: -Total beds: 3359 -Beds in use: 312 -Total ICU beds 739 -ICU Beds in use: 37 Even at this point, in a state of disaster, statically, hospitals are managing. The bigger disaster here is it got into the one place it never should of; aged care. Another fault of the Daniel Andrews labour government in failure to put a proper plan in place. That's not to mention the hotel quarantine fiasco or the wish-washy advice many good citizens are given once they get their COVID test. Its been stated repeatedly, the biggest transmission of infection is in the home yet we shut down all Victorian business and put them on their knees to bleed out and die. To Mr Andrews and your labour clowns; why havent you adequately managed those who were infected? Why is there no support to those who live on their own, having no choice but to go out to communities to buy basic needs? Theres a big notion of giving a voice to the voiceless; labour, you have just crippled the voiceless with stage 4. If people were dying in the streets, if this was a flesh-eating virus, it the actual data showed a statically significant case-fatality, all of this lockdown pandemic would be worth it. But based on empirical data (in case you missed it): The negative rate is: 99.342% That's a positive rate of 0.658% of all 1,608,452 tests. More people died from the flu last year. And that's not even mentioning that a lot of these tests are giving false negatives from people just having the flu. Based on the numbers, what do you think? ==== #SackDanAndrews #SackLabour Tim Smith MP - Member for Kew for Premier of Victoria ==

17.01.2022 Back in 2007 I had huge dreams of making a ‘passive income’ in my sleep and creating an ‘automated business’. I launched my first website, The Alpha Body. It was a membership site, charging $47 dollars a month for online training. Members received monthly programs, weekly eClass and monthly interviews with champion bodybuilders. It sounded like a recipe for success until I realised how much it cost to get a paying member (not to mention how much effort). In my latest blog post I discuss the difference between online vs in person training and what you should be doing to maximise each. Head to the link to read all about it: https://enterprisefitnessacademy.com//the-death-of-the-on/

11.01.2022 , . ... The world's first study into reopening gyms during the coronavirus pandemic has suggested that they do not increase the risk of contracting COVID-19. In a boost for the industry, a study into five gyms allowed to open in Norway found that fears over their safety may have been overstated. Scientists have been reluctant to recommend reopening the facilities as they class gyms as well as indoor swimming pools as places where the risk of transmission is high. The enclosed spaces, heavy breathing and circulated air are thought to help the disease spread through droplets. But the results from Norway have raised questions about this view. The University of Oslo began a randomised study on May 22, when five gyms in Oslo with 3764 members aged 18-64 reopened. None of these people have underlying health conditions. Half of the participants were allowed to return to the gym while the other half were used as a comparison group and kept away. During the two-week study, 80 per cent used the gym at least once, while 38 per cent went more than six times. While using the gym, people had to wash their hands regularly and maintain social distancing - 1 metre for floor exercise, 2 metres for high-intensity classes. Lockers were available for use, but saunas were not. All participants, as well as gym staff, then took an antibody test on June 8. The results showed that of the 3764 individuals monitored, only one person caught COVID-19. This individual was part of the group that had not attended the gym, with the cause of infection traced to his workplace. In Oslo over the study period, 207 new cases were reported. There was also no difference in the rates at which those studied went to hospital. Those who did visit hospital did so for issues not related to COVID-19. 07.01.2022 Quotes that mean something to me; I like this one because I believe; to make wise judgements and facing what’s right versus what’s convenient, one must be a student of philosophy. As you rise in any endeavour, people will disagree, hate you or not understand. To prevent you from losing ‘self’- a grounding in philosophy is as necessary for mind as sleep is for health. 04.01.2022 Its with a heavy heart that I post this. For the foreseeable 6 weeks, Enterprise Fitness is forced to close due to government restrictions. Last time we didnt know what to expect. This time, though being better prepared, the lockdown enforced is stricter, and the elements are working against us, giving us less options to operate.... Due to the weather conditions we have made the decision to place all one to one training on hold at this stage. We will review this in the coming weeks and be in contact if anything changes. We are able to support clients with online training, however it may not be suitable for all clients due to equipment restrictions. Online includes weekly check-ins, nutritional support and guidance and a training program to do on your own. If youre currently not a client and would be interested in this option before coming onboard when we reopen, please DM us. For a general home workout routines and our lockdown resources, check out our Youtube. And as a bonus to all Enterprise followers: Every week we will be going live on Instagram. You can jump on, ask questions and see what we are up to. Follow the team here: https://bit.ly/2WfPHf4

03.01.2022 @Fitness Australia recently posed the question: SHOULD THE FITNESS INDUSTRY BE REGULATED? My answer. No. ... The benefits of regulation address three key areas: 1. Client safety 2. Consumer protection. 3. Guaranteed continued education of professionals The COST of regulation comes at: 1. Innovation 2. Restrictions to operators 3. Unclear and undefined terms 4. Industry freedoms 4. Having big brother breathing down your neck if you do something they don’t like To address point one, client safety. Even the unqualified and stupid don’t intend to hurt clients as that's bad for business. More often, it's the well-meaning, ‘qualified professionals’ who hurt clients. Regardless, regulation does not solve this. Point 2, consumer protection. Firstly; we already have consumer protection laws in Australia, and they are enforceable. Additionally, consider the large majority of Fitness-consumer cat-fishing happens online with online coaching. If Sally Sue in Nigeria puts up a landing page to target clients in Australia, there’s nothing industry regulation can do. Online regulation is needed; however, this should be done separately to ‘industry’ regulation. These are two separate issues. Point 3. Currently, the Fitness industry is self-regulated, and evidence that self-regulation works can be found in the high turnover rate of trainers who are unwilling to up-skill after a cert IV exiting the industry. In short, the fit survive. The unqualified perish. As the question is posed by Fitness Australia, one can only assume that they intend all professionals to partake in their CEC programs which still include courses like nautical walking and attending a FLIEX to hear a motivational speaker - not industry leaders. Which begs the question, who decides on the value of educational programs and industry leaders? What is it based on? Achievements? Likes? Content? Business growth or turnover? Fitness Australia's values as to where they think the industry should go - because that is how FA are currently running. And that's not a stab at Fitness Australia. I know the people there and like them. But it is to say; the Fitness Industry should not be regulated. The cost is too high, and the return is too little. The question ethically can also not be posed by the ones who stand to benefit with mandatory memberships. It's a conflict of interest. And beware, the carrot regulation will dangle is private health insurance. There’s no such thing as free money. We will pay for it in regulation, freedoms and innovation. Vote no and share. This is important. Feel free to contribute to the discussion below

02.01.2022 PASSION Were always unconsciously calculating the cost and benefit of our each and every move. But in the long term, these dont always add up - it sometimes seems more sensible to give up than to work harder.... Thats when passion matters. Because it does not sprout from the cold, calculating analysis of costs vs benefits. Rather, it is based on who we believe ourselves to be - a quitter, or a fighter. Which are you?

02.01.2022 KIDS THESE DAYS! They want to take on the world yet they struggle lacing their boots up. How can you have mastery over the world if you cant have mastery over yourself? The answer is you cant. Self-mastery is a great skill to cultivate for any entrepreneur. Maintaining health and fitness is a practice in self-mastery. To maintain it, we need to choose foods wisely and be disciplined to keep an exercise routine, even though it will often be inconvenient.... Maintaining a level of fitness and health is indicative of mastery over ones domain. If the person you were betting on to win was easily swayed by flashy lights and shiny objects; would you still want to take that gamble? Probably not. Why? Because achieving sh*t is hard and life gets in the way-often. You need to be steadfast in your pursuit of achievement. If youre wanting to reach the top of your industry, you need to master all facets of your domain. As Edmond Shaftesbury wrote in his book, Instantaneous Personal Magnetism, you want to be in control of your appetites and seeking substitutes. He spoke about mastering our stomach, sexual desires and greed, and seeking spiritual substitutes. I would encourage the seeking of achievement to seek self-mastery. Self-mastery keeps your mind on point and your focus sharp. In business negotiations, people may try and sway you with food, wine or compliments. Its self-mastery that prevents you from being caught up in the shiny lights or flashy objects. Learning this is very translatable to health, business and life as often we need to be disciplined and make wise choices that pay off in time.
