21.01.2022 FRIDAY - FLASHBACK This is going to be so much fun and a pleasure. My first flashback has to be to my first wedding. This was a gift to a young friend and his beautiful bride. The wedding took place at Crescent Heads, on the headland with the effects of Cyclone Debbie raging. When school was closed and the advice was to stay off the roads, I jumped in my van and drove 7 hours in torrential rain and rising floodwaters to get to my couple in time. On the day the rain held off, but the winds were strong affecting my mic and blowing the marriage certificate towards the cliffs edge. Despite all the drama, it was an awesome ceremony filled with love and a joining of families and friends. I got to catch up with some of my favourite young people.
21.01.2022 This lovely local wedding last year was no teddy bear's picnic, but you could be excused for thinking so, there were soooo many there Wishing Dianne and Dave a very happy first anniversary

19.01.2022 WEDNESDAY - WEDDING RITUALS Wine box ritual This one is sometimes called a fight box or a love box, I personally like the love. This is a lovely ritual for couples who enjoy a drink and while wine is the most common, any spirit can be used - always the couples choice. The idea is for the couple to write a love letter to each other that the other doesn't see. At the ceremony, the couple place these letters in a wine box (maybe include their vows) and seal the box. The box is t...hen opened at a significant point, either first or fifth anniversary and the couple toast each other and read their letters and remember their wedding day and the love that brought them to that point. They may write new letters and seal a new bottle of wine to repeat at a later anniversary. Some suggest if the couple are having difficulties that it should be opened then as a reminder of what brought them together. I prefer the first as I don't think it is a good idea to be talking at the wedding about any difficulties. I look forward to performing this ceremony to a special couple very soon. See more
17.01.2022 THURSDAY - THANKFUL Where would a wedding be without flowers? Whether it is bouquets, buttonholes or a touch of boho, they are always there. We are lucky in Laurieton to have a beautiful little florist who can take care of all wedding flower needs or provide flowers for a bit of DIY. Today's shout out is to Fieldwork Flowers
16.01.2022 "And I'd choose you in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred world's, in every version of reality, I'd find you and I'd choose you". It was my pleasure to marry my sister to her soulmate John 3 years ago. So sweet to read her words to him today. Happy Anniversary today and many more lovebirds.
15.01.2022 THURSDAY - THANKFUL I have a great job driving around the countryside, making people happy. I really enjoy getting off the highway and winding into the hills a bit. This week I am 'Thankful' to all the lovely venues and the wonderful choices couples have of where to get married. My 'shout out' this week goes to a heartfelt favourite of mine and many couples, run by the amazing Carla and Spud, Kings Creek Retreat at Krambach, south of Taree.
15.01.2022 And i would be more than happy to marry you at this gorgeous location
15.01.2022 I often say how much I love this place and feel so at home doing weddings here. This video will have you loving it as much as me...but the extra exciting part is that it features my last wedding of this year with Mo and Tash So special If you are thinking Kings Creek for your wedding, then think of me for your celebrant
13.01.2022 Our newest local wedding venue. The Camden Haven area is definitely in the sights of local couples and those looking for a peaceful destination location
12.01.2022 WEDNESDAY WEDDING RITUALS Wedding ritual add a little something extra and personal to the ceremony. It can be traditional like the ring exchange or more contemporary like a branding ceremony (ask me). Sand Ceremony - this is one of the most common (some say overdone) ceremonies and is a great way to include parents or children in the ceremony. It is popular with blended families. The colours can have significant meaning and represent the personalities or traits of those pour...ing. The base sand can also be significant and is great for those doing a destination beach wedding to keep a little of their day with them always. The couple (or more) pour coloured sands from individual vessels into a larger central vessel signifying the blending of their lives and families. Just as the grains of sand can no longer be separated, so are the couple bonded for life In the picture below the base sand was from Old Bar Beach where my couple live . I have a large range of coloured sands and beautiful bottles See more

12.01.2022 TUESDAY - TRADITIONS The Giving Away is a bit of an antiquated tradition, dating back to times when the bride was the property of her parents until she was given to her husband and became his property (if he was lucky maybe some livestock or land was included). In modern civil ceremonies it is the couple's choice which traditions they want to include or exclude or change to suit their personal preferences. The traditional wording of the Giving Away when the father brings the ...bride to the alter is "Who gives this woman to be to this man"., with generally the father responding "I do". For a number of reasons this may not suit your ceremony. Alternatives I suggest are: 1. Do without it. It is quite nice just to have music playing and whoever walks whoever down the aisle, shakes hands, has a kiss, removes veil and then takes their seat and music fades 2. Personalise a bit with "Who gives (name) to be married to (name) 3. Personalise further - Do you (person giving name) support (name and name) in their marriage 4. Or I like to involve everyone and say "Who here supports this marriage" and start off the ceremony with a big "WE DO" See more
11.01.2022 I'd love to see mini ponies at a wedding, especially if in disguise
11.01.2022 Mum wonna teddy - she is soooo happy
11.01.2022 TUESDAY - TRADITIONS Taking Sides - a lot of couples want to know which side to stand during the ceremony. I say stand wherever you want. The tradition of the bride on the left and groom on the right (facing the celebrant) dates from back in the day when the groom needed his right arm free to protect his bride incase of attack. Likewise the brides family and friends tend to sit on the left and the groom's on the right. However, for the parents (who usually sit in the front row) they get a better view of their loved one during the ceremony if they sit on the opposite side. I offer this as a suggestion when guests arrive and are being seated. Also I find it nice if everyone mixes it up and sits wherever.
10.01.2022 I had the best time this morning getting shown around Mansfield Estate by owner Helen. She said they are getting stacks of interest for wedding bookings, so if you would like an exclusive eco resort for your wedding, check it out and of course call me. How cool that they plant a tree for every couple Naturally i found the resident butterflies
09.01.2022 The sunshine fairies worked their magic yesterday at Rafferty's Resort, lake Macquarie, so Jake and Kimmy could have the lakeside wedding she had envisioned
08.01.2022 Amazingly thoughtful local engagement yesterday. I hope they choose to have their wedding there and we all know who would love to be their celebrant
08.01.2022 MONDAY - MAKING IT LEGAL The joy of a civil ceremony is that you can make it anything you would like - you can follow the traditional order or shake it up a bit and add your own spin. However, celebrants have a legal obligation to include some bits to ensure you are legally hitched. Before a marriage is solemnised, the authorised celebrant must say to the parties, in the presence of witnesses, the words: "I am duly authorised by law to solemnise marriages according to law. Be...fore you are joined in marriage in my presence and in the presence of these witnesses, I am to remind you of the solemn and binding nature of the relationship into which you are now about to enter. Marriage, according to law in Australia, is the union of 2 people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life." or words to that effect. There is some margin for changes but not a lot See more
07.01.2022 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY - MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU Wishing Haylz and J a very happy 2nd wedding anniversary. It was such a pleasure to 'marry' my bestie and her soulmate - Sending loving vibes and hope to see you soon -
06.01.2022 WEDNESDAY - WEDDING RITUALS Candle lighting ritual - This very popular and beautiful ritual can be included in the ceremony in a number of ways. 1. As a unity ritual, where the bride and groom light individual taper candles which they use to jointly light a larger candle, representing their unity. 2. Remembrance flame where couples light a candle in memory and respect of loved ones past. The candle colour can blend with the colour theme of the wedding or have significance to... the couple. With outdoor weddings the chance of the candle blowing out is high so hurricane lanterns are a lovely addition and for remembrance a battery operating candle can be 'lit' for the duration of ceremony and reception. Pictured below is my candle holder which I am happy for my couples to use. See more
06.01.2022 WOW - good advice here re locking in for 2021. Celebrants should be one of top priorities.
06.01.2022 What an interesting year Sadly Covid affected many of my booked couples with postponements and adjustments, but also created a couple of nice little elopement ceremonies for me. I started the year with a lovely mountain top ceremony, I married friends, neighbours and couples who I now am happy to call friends. I married locals and couples who had never been to the lovely Camden Haven before, but will now hold it dear in their memories. Today I would like to give a huge shou...t out and say Thank you to all my couples from this year and wish you all the best of futures. I also achieved a personal goal of having a little "married at mine" ceremony, now I have a nice space to do this. I hope you all enjoy these lovely pics, if they can't all be uploaded now, I will post some later. Let the new year be a bit kinder to us all
06.01.2022 Had this lovely Married at Mine ceremony yesterday. Filled with colour and love Thank you Kelly and Damian for choosing me
06.01.2022 FRIDAY FLASHBACK - 2020 has seen a lot of re-scheduling of weddings which has resulted in me officiating about half of the predicted weddings for the year. So I am going to flashback through the lovely weddings I have had this year and a big shout out to all my couples forever grateful that you had a choice and chose me. Starting with an extremely hot, mountain top wedding on 4th January to start the year with love
05.01.2022 THURSDAY - THANKFUL As a celebrant I have the privilege to work with a lot of awesome vendors including photographers, wedding planners, stylists... I get to see the results of make-up artists and hairdressers, bridal gown suppliers, florists, venue managers and if I am lucky, caterers, dj's and more. Such a diverse industry with so much creative talent. My first thankful is going to the lovely Michelle and Matt @ Gypsy Falls Retreat. I have had my last two weddings at their besutiful retreat overlooking the falls. They are amazing hosts and not only doubled as witnesses for my first couple but Matt even made the signing pen as a gift for them. If you are looking for a special place for an elopement or just a treat, check them out
04.01.2022 #THROWBACK THURSDAY Chatting with a bride this morning reminded me of this lovely intimate little family wedding at @clarendonforestretreat two years ago. It was a very ecclectic ceremony with the bride having everything she wanted. We had a Tibetan Wind Horse ritual to start, roses for the bride and groom from their children, hubby composed and played a song just for his bride and we had an Indian blessing to finish. And Aunty dressed her gorgeous puppy for the occassion. It all went together beautifully as each component held meaning for the couple. The setting was so peaceful, full of sunshine and butterflies
01.01.2022 I had a bit of a milestone in my celebrant journey last week. I officiated my 50th wedding ceremony. How lucky am I to have been invited to share such a special moment with 50 couples and their loved ones? It may not seem a lot to some but when I moved back to the Camden Haven area and took on this next stage in my life, I had no idea how it would pan out. So I am truly thankful to those who placed their trust in me, it has been such fun so far... bring on the next 50 - watch this space
