22.01.2022 HUMANS OF MAYA #2: Kasturi Murugavel My first Maya experience was in the band for Still Life in 2014. It was an endless task for the team; composing, recording, performing, recording (again). I was blown away by the sheer talent in the Maya family, and the way in which everyone rallied around our cause, Tri for Kids Cancer. By the end of the production, we’d performed 2 shows, produced an all original album, helped raise $15 000 for kid’s cancer research and become lifelong f...riends. I was hooked. Since then, I’ve been involved in The Rolling Cowley, FOMO, FOMO 2 and A Life’s Journey. When I’m not on stage, I help bring Maya projects to life. 08.01.2022 HUMANS OF MAYA #3: Anusha Puvanendiranathan I first joined Maya in 2012, as a last minute substitute dancer for To Be Arranged. I had no idea what I was getting myself into but I haven’t had the heart to leave ever since! Maya gave me the opportunity to get involved as a dancer and choreographer in multiple productions including To Be Arranged, Rolling Cowley, FOMO, FOMO 2, Three Red Hands, Life’s Journey and Zero to Zero. Through each of these productions I have not only be...en able to make some life- long friends but also help some of our dancers find confidence in their own abilities. 07.01.2022 In 2014, the Still Life cast and crew were proud to support Tri for Kids Cancer and raised $15,000. December 2013, the Tri For Kids Cancer team embarked on a gruelling physical challenge to drive awareness, bring hope to children and families affected by cancer, inspire the future generation of researchers and raise much-needed funds to win the war against childhood cancer. Every year, 600 Australian children are diagnosed with cancer. Tragically, 150 of these lose their battle to the disease. Worldwide, 250,000 children are affected by cancer each year and close to 150,000 of them die as a result of their disease. The majority of survivors will have one or more chronic health problems due to their treatments. This is why we urgently need better and safer treatments for childhood cancer.
