Nataraja-Rudrani-The Mighty --------------------------------------- #Nataraja, (meaning, Lord of the Dance) is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva as the cosmic dancer. The gestures of the dance (Tandava) represent Shivas five activities: creation, protection, destruction, embodiment, and release. The Nataraja iconography incorporates contrasting elements- a fearless celebration of the joys of dance, untouched by forces of ignorance and evil, signifying a spirituality that transcends all duality. Nataraja is also shown with his wife Parvati (also known as Rudrani) as they dance together. This dance is an integral element Bharatanatyam, the dance form of southern India, which is believed to be the oldest classical dance form of India (around 2000 years old). 19.01.2022 It's the birth centenary of Oscar-winning, legendary filmmaker #SatyajitRay who took Bengal, India to the world cinema stage. When Ray was a six year old boy, he gave #Tagore a notebook to record the poet's autograph. When he got it back, it contained not only the autograph but also a small poem, when translated in English it reads as follows- "For many a year, I have travelled many a mile to lands far away ... I've gone to see the mountains, the oceans I've been to view. But I failed to see that lay. Not two steps from my home. On a sheaf of paddy grain - a glistening drop of dew". #DYK Satyajit Ray and Charlie Chaplin are the only two film personalities who have received an honorary doctorate by the Oxford University. A region nestled along the heavily forested Godavari river basin in the Southern Indian state of Telang...ana, a hotspot where cultural diversity prospered, rich historical traditions thrived, was inhabited during the Mesolithic and Paleolithic periods. That is the birthplace of a 14th century art form inspired by the floral designs and frescoes of the ancient Ajanta/Ellora and Mughal miniatures.
