17.01.2022 My little boy started Kindy last week and my little girl will start preschool on Monday. 10 years ago I started Maya Muse for a couple of reasons; creative freedom, and a desire to create in an ethical and sustainable manner were driving forces but I also knew that I wanted to create a work life balance that gave me the flexibility to be at home for my kids. So working from home with kid(s) for the past six years has been such a blessing and so wonderful in so any ways but i...t has also felt like crazy chaos and that I never quite had enough headspace and quiet to be as creative as I would have liked. So.... this feels like a reeaaaally big moment for me, watching both Ollie and Luca step out into their next big adventures and also feeling like I will have a bit more me time again With this in mind I bought tickets to The Huddle. I cant tell you how excited I am to be spending the weekend in Orange lapping up the wisdom of a bunch of incredible creative business women with the phenomenal @jumbledonline at the helm. 15.01.2022 OK I am used to a pretty crazy buildup to the 3 day extravaganza that is the wonderful @finders_keepers but the past few weeks have been intense! 13.01.2022 I have been pretty quiet on here since the world went crazy. I have been trying to process what it means for my little business and my family. I had huge plans for 2020, it marks 10 years in business and I was so excited to celebrate and launch some new products. I was also in the process of putting together a gorgeous styled shoot in a country NSW property. All these things are now on hold for now. It took me some time to accept that 2020 will look vastly different to how ...I had imagined. For now Maya Muse is still very much open, available online and I am filling wholesale orders but I have shelved all the extra fun things for now. I am focusing on finding the joy in the simple things and spending time (a whole lot more time) with hubby and the kids. I feel very fortunate to continue to have a creative outlet and am grateful my loved ones are safe. For now I am day dreaming of past adventures until new ones can be made. I took these pics 18 months ago whilst staying at the gorgeous @carrigleacottage in Bundanoon which featured my tea towels as artwork I hope you are all safe and well and I cant wait to see you at a market soon!!! 08.01.2022 What an incredible weekend! My cup is feeling full to the brim with joy, inspiration and motivation. Huge thanks to Pip and the whole team @jumbledonline for putting together a banging Huddle Conference in Orange for Creative Business women - phenomenal! One of the speakers was Grace Brennan who founded @buyfromthebush it was so inspiring to hear her speak about the incredible impact her #buyfromthebush has generated and the movement it has galvanised. I experienced this w...hen one of my much loved stockists @countryculture was featured by Grace late last year. Ange would call me a couple of times a week asking for more and more eye pillows, wheat bags and tea towels for her beautifully curated @countryculture hampers as orders flooded in from across Australia, the demand was amazing! By choosing to buy from our drought and fire affected communities we truly can make a huge difference in rebuilding and sustaining these communities. There were 450 incredible and inspirational women in the room with me yesterday each with their own small business, creative venture or dream and I feel like there is so so much goodness out there and by shopping locally and mindfully all these women will be uplifted as well as their communities - what a feel good factor!!!! 02.01.2022 Friday night feels at the end of a big week. I travelled to Dubbo this week week for my photo shoot @the_repose. It felt indulgent and fulfilling in so many ways. The house was incredible, the day of the shoot was full to the brim with creativity and excitement, and as a Mum of 2 little ones a solo road trip in itself was bliss. The rolling countryside is so beautiful between Sydney and Dubbo. The colours and textures are incredible, the towns charming and quaint and I felt ...so very fortunate to have the freedom to be on the open road. My thoughts were often with my Victorian friends, and all those enduring a second lockdown.
