23.01.2022 Frustration and confusion are common triggers that often manifest as anger or even threatening behaviour on a phone call. And, with increased tension provoked by COVID-19 restrictions over the past year, the number of people experiencing emotionally challenging calls has escalated. In response to our customers' concerns, we have created a Call Handling Training Course which provides staff with positive communication techniques so that they can avoid potential flash points an...d handle difficult calls professionally. http://ow.ly/AcZi50EuTtN The online training, delivered via Zoom, covers a wide range of topics including recognising the stages of escalation in behaviour, triggers and emotional states, staying calm and controlling a call, managing abuse and post-incident considerations. We have also put together a useful guide that can be downloaded on ThoughtSpace which aims to provide staff with call handling strategies to help them manage and reduce conflict. http://ow.ly/FqsC50EuTtK #CallHandlingTraining #CallHandling #TelephoneSkills #Communication #ConflictManagement #Behaviour

19.01.2022 At the end of 2020 the South Australian Government launched a consultation into draft legislation around restrictive practices, with the aim of strengthening safeguards for vulnerable people with a disability. http://ow.ly/iB4S50DeL7F Maybo welcomes the consultation as reducing restrictive practice is at the heart of all of our training. We believe that restrictive practices should only ever be used as a last resort and in accordance with individual behaviour support plans. T...he consultation closes on the 29 January and so there is still time to contribute your responses. #NDIS #PBS #PositiveBehaviourSupport #Care #Safeguarding #Disability #HumanRights
