22.01.2022 As I’m sure you all would know by now, it’s rather wet. So much so apparently Mayfield is flooding. If this is the case then there’s a possibility that water has gotten into the shop. We are right on Maitland Road and the shop isn’t really raised at all. I have no way of knowing and I’m way too far of a drive away to check. So with this in mind, I’m not sure if we will be open as normal tomorrow. Just a heads up. Obviously I hope it’s all fine but just being realistic, in case it’s not. If anyone has been in the area, let me know what it was like.

20.01.2022 Wreaths | We are taking orders for Christmas wreaths as well as listing some pre-made ones on the website available for purchase. We just got a big beautiful lot of new monkey vine and have a range of dried materials so wether you want a certain colour, a christmassy look, native look, all white, metallic etc give us a call or pop in the shop to see what we have and place an order.

18.01.2022 Chrysanthemums You know what’s awesome? These beauties were grown locally in Medowie! Chrysanthemums, or affectionately known as Chryssies and Mums, are the traditional flower of Mother’s Day. Now whilst I am all for breaking traditions, I also truly adore the classics. Old time favourites like chryssies, roses, carnations are making a big come back, and for good reason. I mean...just look at these! Aren’t they just absolutely gorgeous?! It’s all about how you use them! And... best of all, they’re grown right here, just out of Newy! So much of what is sold in the markets is imported, and because of the covid-19 situation, imports have drastically reduced. So whilst flowers like roses and carnations have been scarce, the best thing about it is it’s driving heaps of business to local Aussie farmers and I absolutely love that! We do love the quality of the stock we can get imported, like the big beautiful Columbian roses, but I am all for supporting Australian grown where possible. We will be using chryssies in mixed arrangements for Mother’s Day, but we will also have bouquets of just cryssies as well, in a range of colours and price points. See more

16.01.2022 A couple of pretty pots from last week I will be going on leave from this Wednesday 26th and back on the 9th of September. Ashlea will be in the shop making all of the arrangements during this time. Replies on social media may take longer and I may not be able to answer questions about things like stock levels, if we can fit an order in that day etc, so I recommend calling the shop directly for any enquires during this time and Ashlea, Chris or Lisa will be able to answer these questions! 08.01.2022 Beautiful birthday bunch of colourful Australian wildflowers from last week Did you know that Leucodendrons and Proteas are not native to Australia? They are closely related though and are in the Proteaceae family, which includes Aussie natives like Banksia, Waratah, Grevillea, Hakea and even Macadamia. They are commonly grown and used alongside our Aussie natives and are collectively referred to as Australian wildflowers. If you ask for natives there’s a good chance they will be included (but let us know if you only want Aussie native). We love Leucs and Proteas like this beautiful Venus variety for a pop of red and they can also be kept and dried. @ Mayfield Floral Co

08.01.2022 The new website now has a blog section where I’ll be sharing some wedding stories, shop updates and general floristry information. The first post is the wedding of my friends Catherine and Peter. They recently tied the knot in a beautiful small ceremony on their property. Here’s one of my (many) fav shots from the day (I photographed the wedding as well as did the florals).

07.01.2022 I hate to have to post this but I need to say that rude and abusive treatment will NOT be tolerated. Ever. If anyone speaks to us this way the conversation will be ended, they will be asked to leave and refused service. I will not stand there and listen to someone yelling and swearing at me over flowers. There is ZERO reason to behave this way towards another human being. We have feelings and are just trying to do our job the best we can for ALL of the many customers we serve in a day. This is a reminder that you never know what a person is dealing with in their own life and to JUST BE POLITE. It costs nothing and you can still get your message across respectfully.

04.01.2022 I just realised my last post is wrong...I will actually be in the shop Monday to Sunday! We are open this weekend especially for Mother’s Day, til around 1pm on Sunday. Lisa will be at the door to help you (to ensure we don’t have a small shop too full of people), wether you’re there to pick up an order or haven’t ordered anything. We will try to have some ready to go arrangements available, but this is going to depend on what stock is left after the orders are made, so if you know you want some....please please place an order ASAP! We will be delivering all weekend as well. Free delivery to Mayfield and neighbouring suburbs is still running so take advantage of that!

03.01.2022 You guys have absolutely smashed us with orders for Mother’s Day! We are very close to being sold out of fresh flowers and that’s after we got another big delivery of stock this morning! I may be able to take a few more orders tomorrow but once it’s sold out, that’s it. No more stock is available for us to purchase. We still have dried flowers and foliage though, as well as some plants, chocolates and hand made candles. 01.01.2022 We are closed today and tomorrow. We sold clean out of stock and there’s not much available to buy so we are taking a much needed break after working all week and weekend to bring you the best we could for Mother’s Day. Website and phones should be back up and running sometime on Wednesday, once I see what stock I can get my hands on. Thank you to everyone for your patience during this time and I apologise to those who we weren’t able to provide anything for. The demand this year was incredibly high on top of there being less stock available due to very limited imports. Next year, please place an order to avoid disappointment! 01.01.2022 Hey guys, update time. We ran pretty much all out of stock today apart from a few bits and bobs. We are going to continue for another week being closed on Monday and Tuesday, but the plan is that the days/hours will go back to normal soon! For those who don’t know, there’s a national shortage of flowers this week due to reduced imports (which the Aussie market unfortunately relies on a lot) and the huge demand we experienced over Mother’s Day depleting a huge amount of the Au...ssie stock. So basically we are waiting for flowers to grow now haha. The flowers that are available are more expensive than usual, which certainly doesn’t help either so bear with us while we work through this. I can still be contacted via Instagram, Facebook or by emailing [email protected] if you’d like to get the ball rolling on an order. I still have plenty of dried and preserved stock left too.
