Today on ANZAC Day, Mayfield East Public School remembers and pays respect to those who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations as well as the contribution and suffering of all those who have served. Lest We Forget.

Kindergarten and K/1K are having a wonderful day, reconnecting in person, with their friends and their teachers. In the meantime - here's the newsletter, including awards and birthdays for the past week - enjoy ... Happy Monday! 22.01.2022 Good evening MEPS family, I hope you're all keeping well and have had a great start to the week It's a little late today, but here's this week's newsletter There's information about Phase 1 next week, as well as Library, the canteen and our weekly awards from last week. ... Due to some accessibility issues, we've celebrated awards a little differently this week - children are listed by first name and class in the newsletter and teachers will be posting their video announcement on their Google Classroom or Seesaw (depending on the class). So it's essentially a double celebration of great work, and wonderful acts of kindness! Have a great week of learning, whether it's happening on- or off-campus Take care and stay safe, Robyn Christie Proud Principal - MEPS https://bit.ly/T2W22020MEPS

19.01.2022 Athletics Days this week.... Good afternoon MEPS family! Just a reminder that all students will participate in athletics activities this week, as a substitute for the Athletics carnival we missed due to COVID. ... K-2 will be on Monday and Years 3-6 on Tuesday. Note that Year 2 students in 2/3J will participate on Monday, Year 3 students on Tuesday. Students can wear their house colours or their school sports uniform. Students were reminded last week of what house they're in. Because it's been a while since we've had sports house activities, the house colours are as follows: Platt: Yellow Fearnley: Green Ingall: Red Crebert: Blue Please ensure your child comes with sneakers/joggers, a hat and a drink bottle to ensure they can fully enjoy these activities in the sunshine. I know they'll have lots of fun! Hope you've had a great weekend! Miss Peterie Sports Coordinator

11.01.2022 Dear MEPS family, Check out what's happening during NAIDOC Week at MEPS

10.01.2022 Good afternoon MEPS family and friends, I hope you're keeping warm and dry today! We've had a lot of enquiries about children potentially returning to school early because families are finding it difficult to get their kids working at home. For the past few weeks, we've done so well at following the requirements set out by the Premier and the NSW Dept of Education, with most of our students learning at home, and a very small number of children whose families have no other op...tion but to send them to school present each day (around 10%). This has meant that we've been able to maintain sound social distancing measures in all areas of school, and our teachers have been able to engage with the vast majority of our students online every day. This week however, our numbers have suddenly increased dramatically - we now have almost 20-25% of students on campus each day, which is making it very difficult to maintain the social distancing requirements needed to ensure the health and wellbeing of our students and staff - both in the classroom and the playground AND still deliver quality remote learning to the rest of the students at home as well. I know that the children are missing school - their friends, teachers and routine, I know that you are all missing the kids being at school and I can definitely say that all of our fab MEPS staff are missing seeing our kids in person each day. It is going to be awesome when we can finally get everyone back at school as normal, BUT we still have a little way to go to make sure that the curve is well and truly flattened. To get us there (back to normal operations) sooner rather than later, I would ask that where possible, you keep your child/ren at home for remote learning on every day except for your allocated day, as suggested by the Department of Education. If there is too much work, or you're finding the learning platforms tricky to navigate, or you can't get your child/ren motivated to work - especially if you have more than one child at home - please send a message to your child's teacher so that they can make adjustments to their learning program, have a chat, come up with some solutions. There's always something we can do to individualise learning and help each student and family during this tricky time. Doing this will help us get back to normal much faster. If you have any questions about this, please send an email c/o the school and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Take care, Robyn Christie Proud Principal - MEPS

09.01.2022 Welcome back for Term 3, MEPS family! What beautiful weather we've had for the first day back Below you'll find this week's newsletter. Don't forget that all students will be dismissed at 2.50pm from today - there are no staggered pickups. Do not enter the school grounds until after 2.45pm please, and don't forget to maintain 1.5m physical distance from others when collecting your child/ren. Students are to be collected from the following areas:... Kinder - the front playground near the K/1K demountable Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2, including 2/3J) - Under the main COLA (outside the library) Stages 2 and 3 - Under the Hall COLA Please do not wait on the silver seats outside the Community Room, as these will be used by students waiting to be collected by car. You'll find more information in the newsletter https://bit.ly/T3W12020MEPS Kind regards Mrs Christie Proud MEPS Principal
