21.01.2022 Latest Announcement - August 2019 First, let me thank all those who have posted positive comments and encouragement for the future of Mayfield Mews. Your sentiments are very much appreciated. Moving to the business situation since the end of July, we have spoken with a number of parties interested in leasing & managing Mayfield Mews. The interest was strong and genuine but for one reason or another, a committment to move forward has not materialised. As a result, with no cur...rent business discussions in progress, the Mews will continue to remain closed indefinitely. That said, we will continue to actively promote the business opportunity. Mayfield Mews really offers an attractive setting as it stands, but can also be repurposed as a workshop, artist’s studio, gallery or similar venue. With this in mind, please check the the website promotion at https://www.mayfieldmews.com.au/lease Thanks again for your ongoing interest in Mayfield Mews. John. See more

21.01.2022 Hi All, As we enjoy the festive season, we would like to wish the readers of this page all the very best for happy holidays and success in the New Year. Hopefully too, progress will be made for leasing and reopening Mayfield Mews. We will keep you informed of any developments. That said, Bowning continues to be a very strong drawcard for local tourism with its proximity to Canberra and nearby regional centres. The local businesses are well established, professionally managed... and continue to improve their offerings. The Bowning Hotel, for example, has an excellent dining room and bar whilst the Bowning Antique Centre hosts an amazing collection that will satisfy even the most discerning buyer. Very much worth a visit at any time. Once again, enjoy the seasonal festivities with family and friends. All the very best too, for a happy & healthy New Year. Cheers, John. See more

We wish him all the best and thank him for his splendid stewardship of Mayfield Mews over the last five years or so. As the new owners, we are now spending time reorganising the business fom a management perspective and hope to be back in operation shortly. Meantime, thank you all for your patience and understanding. Best wishes, John.

18.01.2022 The Back to Bowning event this weekend (Saturday and Sunday September 21 & 22) is an opportuninty for all to visit the town and engage in a large number of social events including a walk up Bowning Hill. 17.01.2022 Important Announcement: With the change of ownership, Mayfield Mews will be closed June 29 & 30 and also throughout July. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. John

16.01.2022 It’s been a while since I posted anything to this page due to the various events that have impacted social life in Australia in recent months. The long drought followed by an extreme fire season was bad enough. In addition to the bushfire impact on regional Australia’s tourism & hospitality industries, general retail business also declined noticeably over the year end producing a number of outlet closures including some well known names in the trade. The rains at the start o...f this year were very welcome after the fires, but came in such abundance in some quarters to be destructive rather than useful. Whilst attempting to recover from the downside of these various events, we are now confronted by the global Covid-19 pandemic. The hospitality sector in Australia is particularly impacted by the draconian regulations imposed to contain the spread of the virus through the community. We expect these regulations will be in place for quite some time to come. From all of this, it is clear that Mayfield Mews will not be reopening any time soon, if ever at all. The impact of these various events has stifled any interest there might have been to consider leasing the business as an attractive and lucrative proposition. It will be a long time before anyone is in a position to do so. In the meantime, I would like to thank all those who have followed this page and for their comments and wishes, especially in the recent past. I also hope that the present upheaval and danger in our lives being experienced here in Australia can be faced with confidence and determination. Hopefully we will emerge stronger for the experience. Wishing you all the best at this difficult time. John. See more

11.01.2022 An update for those of you that follow the Mayfield Mews page. The past year has been really difficult with the drought, fires and now the Corona virus pandemic. Life for many people has gone from being hard to downright difficult. One outcome for everyday life has been a trend to working from home and for some, relocating businesses in rural areas. With this in mind, we are now in the process of offering the Mayfield Mews property for sale. This includes the Mews as well as... the now vacant Commercial buildings at the street front along with Albury House that forms part of the overall site. The house is a 4 bed/2 bathroom mid Victorian build featuring hardwood floors & ceilings. It is steeped in history with links to Henry Lawson & Banjo Paterson who spent time there discussing pre-federation politics and literature. The street front commercial buildings offer 280 m of floor space that can be used for offices, workshops, stores, a craft studio or for retail display purposes. The cafe, located in the converted stables at the rear of the block is fully functional and can be put into service or even repurposed as needed. Further information can be found at the website of the agent - Ray White Rural Canberra / Yass (https://raywhiteruralyasscanberra.com.au) Main Details: BOWNING, NSW ALBURY HOUSE and MAYFIELD MEWS PROPERTY: Lifestyle SIZE: 2232 square metres SALE: Auction August 22 AGENT: Ray White CONTACT: George Southwell 0429 838 345 Best wishes, John.

07.01.2022 Lovely to have Kaori, Yumi, Megumi and Yitsen at the Mews today, indulging in beautiful homemade scones!

06.01.2022 There have been no developments at Mayfield Mews since the last post. Expressions of interest for leasing the business are still made, but with no committment to move forward. In view of this situation, the website has been closed and the local directional signage taken down. All can be quickly redeployed when the business reopens. The Back to Bowning weekend a month ago was a great success with its various activities & social events. The Bowning Hill walk was also extremely popular with a large number of families enjoying the outing in good weather. Bowning contnues to be an attractive destination for both tourists and locals. The various businesses in town, including the Hotel and Antiques Centre, are appealing spots to visit and offer variety and quality that is worthy of your continued patronage. Cheers, John.

02.01.2022 Debby and Coxy are delighted to announce Mayfield Mews has been SOLD and will be under new ownership from 01 July 2019. This is a business we created together and we are both rightly proud of our achievements. It has been our pleasure to be part of the Bowning community over the past 5 years where we have made friends for life. You have watched us grow from humble beginnings to become the vibrant hub of Bowning. There will be a short shutdown period from 17th June until 24t...h June to enable a smooth transition to the new owners of the Mews. Mayfield Mews will re-open on Wednesday 26th June. We hope to see many of our valued customers in the coming weeks to give us the chance to say farewell, and to welcome the new owners. Bowning Antiques will remain and this business has not been sold nor is the Antique Business for sale or closing.

02.01.2022 Hi All, Here we are end of July! We assumed we’d be back on track with Mayfield Mews in full swing come August, but circumstances have not panned out as hoped. While we’ve had a lot of consultation and serious expressions of interest to run the business, no arrangement has yet been agreed to continue as was planned. This said, some discussions are ongoing and hopefully we will see the Mews reopen later in the month of August or in September. ... In the meantime, the Cafe will remain closed until further notice. We will provide updates on developments as they occur. Best wishes, John. See more
