25.01.2022 The Islamic (Hijri) NEW YEAR signifies the most important event, the migration of the Prophet Muhammad and his followers, fleeing persecution to a new beginning where they were able to worship God and establish a new civilisation that made significant contributions to our world, 1442 years ago. This event was similar to the example of Exodus experienced by Moses and his followers.

14.01.2022 One of the biggest blessings I’ve been given is a supportive family. Shortly after I converted in 2008, my parents began fasting Ramadan to show their support a...nd to better understand my new faith. My father joined me for Habitat for Humanity builds where he made some Muslim friends. One of those men taught the high school Sunday school class at the masjid where I attended and was teaching the kindergarten class. My father began attending Sunday school at the masjid. We drove together, parted ways in the parking lot and met back up after dhuhr prayer to ride home together. My father also started learning to pray. . On December 21, 2009 my father passed out at work, was found by coworkers, and was rushed to the hospital. He called my mother from the ambulance. I remember her panicked look as she hung up the phone and scrambled to get her keys to go meet him. I also remember saying, Daddy might die today. He’s been learning about Islam. If he doesn’t want to die a non-Muslim, he should take his shahada. . My father took his shahada in the emergency room as he was being treated for internal bleeding due to liver cancer. We had no idea. He eventually had surgery to remove part of his liver and has been cancer free since then. Alhamdulillah. . My father celebrated his 10th shahadaversary a couple weeks ago. His celebration included going out to breakfast with the masjid youth group after their Saturday morning Quran class that he and my mother have joined. . I love that this past decade for my father is bookmarked by being at the masjid and learning. I love that he and my mother have grown together in their faith and practice and I am so incredibly thankful to Allah for guiding us to Islam. . Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah See more
