It may not be guiding travellers from afar but our Steve’s work is certainly lighting up our festive season with another win in the Australian Cinematographer’s Society (ACS) awards. 21.01.2022 A fond farewell... It’s been an emotional week at Mayfly HQ as we farewell one of our favourites. She has been an absolute trooper for us over the last year travelling from Sydney to Melbourne and everywhere in between, putting in a stellar effort when the conditions were tough, and even producing some award-winning quality footage. But like all champions, there comes a time when the next best thing is just too hard to beat. Yep, our beloved BlackMagic camera put up a good fight but it’s time we moved on to a shinier, newer, more run-and-gun-ready kit for 2021 and beyond. May your new adventures embrace your many talents BlackMagic, you’ll be in our hearts forever.
19.01.2022 Visiting with purpose We’re always keen to work with the Riverina Community College and we love a feel-good story. So it’s a double win for us to be working on a video for new volunteers into their Community Visitors Service (CVS). The CVS is a free program that sees volunteers visiting with people who may be at risk of experiencing isolation due to family, social, cultural reasons or a disability. We’ve been loving following volunteers for this project. What a great service!... If you have been watching #oldpeopleshome on ABC Australia you will know all about it. 10.01.2022 A recent project for Rail Trails Australia saw us spend a lovely weekend in the very beautiful Tumbarumba, chatting with some equally lovely locals. As is always the case when the subject and talent is this good we ended up with a fantastic finished product. And it turns out, that we’re not the only ones that think so. ... Within the first couple of days of release, the video racked up an impressive 5000 views! We’re also told that it was a bit of a highlight at the recent Rail Trail Forum where it premiered. We love hearing from happy customers! 05.01.2022 Highlighting health care We have been filming at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and a health hub in Batlow, which gives people there access to video consults and remote medical assistance. This service means the people of the Batlow area have better access to care and only need to make the drive to Wagga when it’s absolutely necessary. Last week gifted us one of those happy days when we were asked to video a media launch for a new mental health and wellbeing program supporting truck drivers, alongside one of our favourite photographers @jackofheartsphotos. It's always a pleasure to work with such a happy and talented professional. 02.01.2022 An artist’s tale - Notable mention goes to a short film we’re working on with our friends at Frank & Earnest, featuring a beautiful Narrandera-based artists, Layla Bacayo. Layla’s work is one of a kind and we were hoping to document her experience of a residency in Liverpool UK, before the C word (Layla’s pet name for COVID lol!) struck. We’ve been staying in touch with Layla and hope we can at least showcase some of her work on film soon. I'm also proud to mention that this film had an all female cast and crew!
