13.01.2022 There's still time to complete the survey by the Department of Transport and reject the proposals put forward to extend the stretches of the river reserved for powered water craft (water skiers and jet skis). These extensions come at the expense of the area reserved for sailing activities at Maylands. Some of the knock on effects are:... - It will impact on the safety of sailing marks currently in use by sailors; - The wake from motor powered craft will be allowed to travel further than before, particularly along the Berringa Park sanctuary zone; - The safety of both sailors and power boat users is not addressed We accept that development of a large residential precinct across the water at Belmont Park (by international developers Golden Group) will occur, and that we must adapt to changing wind conditions and greater commuter traffic. However Maylands Yacht Club MUST maintain its sailing area in order to adapt to these changes, and indeed survive. The link for the survey appears below. It must be completed before 30th October. Thank you for your support. https://www.mysaytransport.wa.gov.au/swan-river-upper-reach
