23.01.2022 Although School Sport Queensland and School Sport Australia will not be hosting any track and field championships in 2020 due to COVID-19, Queensland Athletics will instead be hosting a Queensland All Schools Track and Field Championships at QSAC . This championships will take place over two weekends, with the 12 - 19 years boys championships taking place from Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th October and the 12 - 19 years girls championships taking place from Saturday 24th - Sund...ay 25th October. The hammer throw and pole vault events will be held on Saturday 7th November. Athletes need to register with Queensland Athletics in order to compete in the championships. Since registration has now opened for the 2020/2021 Queensland Athletics season, it's the perfect opportunity to register as a Mayne Harriers member and this season the club is offering its athletes free membership. Athletes can register with Mayne Harriers via the QA registration portal link: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/mayneharrier/registration/ Registrations for the championships opened on Wednesday 23rd September at 7pm and will close on Sunday 11th October at 11.59pm. There are no qualifying standards for any events, which will all be straight finals. Athletes will be competing for their schools in this event but spaces are limited, so any Mayne Harriers athletes who wish to compete in these championships should register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Upon the completion of the championships, Queensland Athletics will name a Queensland Merit team which will include the first two athletes in each age category, the first 2 multi-class athletes in each age category and the first North Queensland athletes at the North Queensland Championships in each all schools age category. For further information about the championships including the draft timetable and events offered, please visit the Queensland Athletics website or the Mayne Harriers TeamApp event page. We hope to see a good number of our school-aged athletes running, throwing and jumping at these championships .

23.01.2022 Despite Saturday being blustery enough to blow us all away, a handful of Mayne Harriers athletes braved the wind and competed at QA's TnF Meet #3 . Mayne Harriers was represented by Isaac Boal, Joanna Hobson, Lilu Hung, Amber Nyssen and Jess Sammon. All of these athletes performed well regardless of the weather in QA's last meet of the 2019/2020 athletics season. There were also a few PBs and near-PBs recorded . We look forward to seeing our athletes back out again soon competing in the first meet of the 2020/2021 athletics season . Photo credit : Kylie Nyssen and Casey Sims

23.01.2022 In case you have been wondering, formal Mayne Harriers training is still able to proceed in light of the new restrictions on gatherings the Queensland Government announced on Saturday morning. This is provided that athletes and their families comply with our COVID-19 safe plan, so please don’t attend training if you have any COVID-19 symptoms. We advise as per the Government regulations that you get tested if you develop symptoms or if you have been around anyone who has test...ed positive. We also encourage everyone to use hand sanitiser when arriving at and leaving training. Whilst athletes aren’t required to maintain the 1.5 m distance whilst on the field and training, we do ask that parents maintain social distancing and that athletes still make an effort to be conscious of it. Thanks everyone for your continued efforts in complying with our COVID-19 safe plan :). See more

14.01.2022 Further to yesterday's post on formal Mayne Harriers training being able to continue at this present time, we thought that we would remind our athletes and their families of situations when they should not attend training. Anyone who has been to identified contact tracing locations in the Brisbane Youth Detention cluster should not attend training until further information becomes available, monitor their health and get tested if they develop even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms. A list of these locations can be found at the following link - https://www.qld.gov.au//cor/current-status/contact-tracing Thanks everyone for your cooperation and understanding.

13.01.2022 We hope that our Mayne Harriers community had a wonderful Christmas long weekend . Amber had a very successful campaign and won the gold medal in her age category, recorded a heptathlon points PB and qualified for the 2021 Australian Combined Events Championships. This will be Amber’s first time representing Queensland at a national athletics championship, and it will be well-deserved. Keisha and Piper came 10th and 12th respectively in their age category, both great results given that these girls were competing in their first heptathlons as part of a large field. All of the girls enjoyed the challenge of competing in seven events over two days, and managed to record heptathlon PBs in some of their events. Congratulations girls on all your hard work and your awesome results . Photo credit : Kylie Nyssen

08.01.2022 Athletes and parents/coaches/spectators who were registered to attend Meet #2 in the QA All Schools Cross Country Series today were advised this morning that the meet has been postponed, with a new date to be announced soon. While this is disappointing for those athletes who were registered to attend, we will keep you all posted when QA announces a new event date. The Brisbane Cross Country Series meet that is scheduled to take place at Minnippi Parklands, Tingalpa tomorrow will still be going ahead, as QA have since received advice that this meet can go ahead due to having an approved COVID-19 plan in place. 08.01.2022 Mayne Harriers training will resume this evening. However there will still be some restrictions in place until 1:00 am on Friday 22nd January. Our athletes will not need to wear a mask when training but they will have to wear a mask when using indoor facilities (toilets, equipment rooms etc.), travelling via public transport or when they are outdoors and cannot maintain a 1.5 m separation from others. Athletes and their parents will need to be vigilant with hand washing and sanitising, social distancing and if they have the mildest COVID-19 symptoms getting tested immediately and not attending training. Please visit the Queensland Health website for an updated list on the easing of restrictions. Thanks everyone for your cooperation and we look forward to seeing you at training .
