25.01.2022 Thank you South Australia for doing the right thing during the Stay at Home Direction and getting tested if you have symptoms. While we all may be feeling a s...ense of relief about easing restrictions, the Parafield cluster remains a significant concern, and measures still need to be in place to protect our state. Now is not the time to be complacent. . We are asking all South Australians to get tested for COVID-19 immediately if: You have any symptoms of COVID-19, even if mild, as soon as symptoms appear. You have been asked by SA Health to get a test. We have been working hard to open new clinics and extend operating hours which has significantly reduced waiting times across all testing sites. Find a location to get tested: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidtesting . Symptoms of COVID-19 include: fever or chills cough sore throat runny nose shortness of breath loss of taste or smell. . If you need to get tested: Please be patient with staff who are working hard to organise logistics and collect samples. Be prepared for your visit by bringing water and snacks. If you are attending a walk-in site, bring sun protection (sunscreen, hat, umbrella) and a chair. Keep 1.5 metres between yourself and others in line and wear a mask if possible. Motorists are reminded to not queue across intersections, ensure that you leave enough distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you, drive slowly through the testing sites and ensure you have enough fuel if waiting in line at a drive-through clinic. . After your test: Go straight home. Avoid contact with other people. Stay in self-isolation until you receive a negative test result (in certain cases you may be required to remain in self-isolation or self-quarantine if directed to do so by SA Health or SA Police, even if you receive a negative test result). Information on how to self-isolate/self-quarantine: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/covidisoadvice . If you are well but worried, contact the SA COVID-19 Mental Health Support Line on 1800 632 753

09.01.2022 To celebrate Youth Week, we start our Service Spotlight talking about volunteers at the Northern Sound System. Northern Sound System (NSS) is our youth music an...d creative industries facility based in Elizabeth. NSS has up to 25 young volunteers who support the team in programs for music creation, gaming, broadcasting and VFX. Volunteers also help at NSS’ live events supporting promotion, set up, lighting and sound. Michael, 20, has volunteered for seven years supporting live music events from set up to now operating technical equipment. Michael said the skills he has learned managing shows has been a great door way into the industry. From here I have got to work with some people who do staffing for events, so I have been able to U2, Elton John, I have worked on a couple of other big ones the Jimmy Barnes one recently, it’s just been great getting into the industry, he said. 02.01.2022 Happy World Kindness Day! A kind word, small act of kindness, or even just a smile can make such a difference to someone’s happiness. When someone’s kindness or... helpful gesture redirects your attitude, and then your better attitude rubs off on another, and so on, and so on - this is the Butterfly Effect. Throughout World Kindness Week, we have had these colourful butterflies available for patients, visitors and staff to write a message of kindness, a thank you note, a quote - anything that might uplift someone walking past who will read. The butterflies were then put up in the foyers of our hospitals and state office, as well as at Flora McDonald Retirement Community. There were some beautiful messages written, and we thank all those who got involved. The butterflies will still be available today, so feel free to add your own touch if you are at one of the sites today. See more
