14.01.2022 The turning of soil: to mark the beginning of a new $20million build at the West development, is an important milestone, and not just a ceremonial one. A significant part of this is our Charles Sturt Community facility, which will be one of the cornerstones of the Charles Street precinct, which will incorporate library and other community connections including programs and community development opportunities. One of the most exciting parts of this development, and I’d like to... recognise it today also, is that we are getting closer to our community having access to the football oval to use as open space. This access is integral to the vibrant and beautiful place being created here, being overlooked by this wonderful community facility. It will enable our community to exercise, spend time and enjoy green open space within walking distance from their homes and this community centre and library/ hub. We recognise that the AFC will continue to use it as a training facility and very much look forward to that shared community access becoming a reality.
14.01.2022 West Beach Road gets a mention ...

07.01.2022 Official opening of Cheltenham Mausoleum: Cheltenham Cemetery, originally the Port Adelaide and Suburban Cemetery, Cheltenham but known as Woodville Cemetery, was established in 1876 by the Port Adelaide Corporation. Funds were allocated for the cemetery by the South Australian colonial administration in 1874. An important part of our history, today, the new Cheltenham Mausoleum Precinct was officially opened by Deputy Premier Vicki Chapman and blessed by Fr Peter. The precinct has a unique atmosphere and mood where we can be remembered and be reminded of how we lived and what was important to us.

03.01.2022 The Grange Primary School celebrates 140 years: first located at the Grange Baptist Church site, now the school is on Jetty Street, Grange. It was wonderful listening to Joyce’s stories- she was Ducks in 1938 (yes, she’s 94 years of age!). The cake was made by Jan, mother of a member of the Governing Council.
03.01.2022 Dragon Boat SA opening ceremony at Aquatic Reserve, West Lakes: the boats are blessed and "awakened" before the races with painted dots on the eyes and tongue. This ritual serves to ward off evil and to sanctify and bless the boats. In addition, it is supposed to make the dragon boats strong and fierce and therefore fit to compete in the exciting races. PAE Deputy Mayor, David Wilkins, also attended the ceremony.
