23.01.2022 Ok all you Maz’s Dressmaking and Alterarions follower’s, I’ve got a favour to ask! Where I usually post my sewing classes (Surfcoast Comminity Board) they won’t allow me post there anymore. My enrollment has gone from 3 classes to 1 because of this as I can not reach the wider Torquay community to let them know about my classes on this page so I have to find other avenues. (It is a shame as I do bring women together in the community to have some fun, make new friends and l...earn a new skill). So I am asking/ hoping that you will share my last post, (or the post below) about my sewing classes and tell your friends. It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Cheers and SEW you later! Maz. 17.01.2022 This was my last project. A curtain to cover the cables and wires in the Media Room at GMHBA Stadium ( Kardinia Park) home of the Geelong Cats! Loved the view I had in my work space today when I had to steam this baby which is 10 meters x 2.8 meters! This is the largest piece of fabric I have had the privilege to work on! Lots of measuring and planning, 50 tabs to make, 100 pieces of Velcro to sew on and lots of steaming! I actually go for the West Coast Eagles, but I would love to see a Cats game from this room!

17.01.2022 A couple alterations which a client asked for which makes the garments look totally different!!! I remove the sleeves from her silk dress as it was too heavy looking! The cream dress she wanted to make into a shirt as the elastic had gone in the waist. I had the skirt left over which she didnt want. I looked at it and thought of I flipped it upside down I could make it into another cute shirt! (I hate throwing fabric out!). My client was stoked the the idea!

16.01.2022 Now is time to start planning your Grad, Deb or Racing frocks! Dont leave it till the last moment!

16.01.2022 So had some spare time on my hands this avo so made Spot a new fleece puffer coat, quilted, warm and snugly! Star Wars of course! If you would like one for your favourite pooch, let me know as I can custom make! Spot has a few that he loves!

15.01.2022 So had some scrap fleece fabric and a spare hour today so whipped up a new bed for Spot. He is actually snoring he is so comfortable! Princess and the pea!

15.01.2022 So, I do love a good challenge and this alteration fit the bill! I actually enjoy trouble shooting and figuring out the best way to fix garments. A client brought me a jacket that she had worn once and the seams split in the back. NOT an inexpensive jacket, but the store would not return it because they said she bought the wrong size. (Which she did not!). They would only give her a $20 voucher to get fixed!!!! The company just cut many corners in dealing with this fabric w...hich caused poor workmanship! I had to really take my time unpicking it to restore and repair as the fabric frayed very easily. Once I unpicked the garment I had to stablished the fabric with interfacing on the back panel as it was missing 2cm of fabric because of the fray. Luckily the sleeves were too long so I took the fabric from the cuffs and pieced fabric together to make strips to cover the frayed seams down the back seams. My client was ecstatic and very happy with the outcome as we were able to save her jacket! (Or it was going in the bin). People think that alterations are easy and they dont always want to pay a lot for them. They are not easy! The fact of the matter is that alterations take time from the unpicking to the actual repair. If but if done by a qualified seamstress, it is worth it! See more
