24.01.2022 What a gorgeous wall! The first of the stabilised (rammed) earth blade walls at 90 Hope Street. Lovely pink hue from Pickering Brook crushed gravel. I hope you are all in awe of this wall as much as I am.
23.01.2022 Object of delight
23.01.2022 The erection of the My Home demonstration house. Built for comfort and speed. Offsite’s prefabricated timber wall, roof and floor cassettes delivered to a site provided by the State government at a peppercorn lease. Highbury Homes completes the build. Rotary WA fits out the houses with furniture and homewares as well as creating gardens. People who were once homeless now have a home. St Patrick’s manage the properties and the tenants. That is PPP in action.
22.01.2022 My Home housing for homeless people is gathering momentum.... first houses coming soon.

20.01.2022 More houses of Banda Islands
20.01.2022 A very tactile spatial experience. Rammed earth, recycled brick and industrial honed concrete. The first completed of three group dwellings in White Gum Valley.
19.01.2022 House in Sanur, Bali for an Australian couple retiring there. I handed over design to Bali architect, Gede, for construction documentation and contract admin Bali style. Very interesting to compare construction techniques with Australian practices.
19.01.2022 Love the cocooning embrace of this 3D printed home using local earth. Would have similar properties to rammed earth. https://www.fastcompany.com//this-wild-looking-house-is-ma
18.01.2022 Last night, the City of Fremantle Planning Committee voted unanimously to support approval for the My Home houses for homeless people in North Fremantle. Very exciting that construction will soon begin on the houses.

15.01.2022 If you want to know how I work and what’s going on inside my head when I work, this profile from ACA (Association of Consulting Architects) helps explain. https://aca.org.au/com/profiles-experience/member-profiles/

12.01.2022 Object of delight. Light.
07.01.2022 Which comes first: steel frame or timber stud? Both at Hope Street site.
07.01.2022 And more houses of Banda Islands
07.01.2022 One last glimpse of sunshine in Northbridge before winter arrived.
05.01.2022 This is a home. The My Home demonstration house for a homeless person. Locally fabricated timber wall, roof and floor cassettes fitted at Offsite’s plant with UPVC double glazed windows, heavy duty insulation, membranes, external cladding and battens ready for internal lining. Two houses delivered flat pack to site for erection in two days. A fantastic collaboration of people to produce a 31m2 house to Passivhaus principles at an incredibly small budget. This is very exciting. We are on our way to delivering housing for homeless people in WA. Thank you everyone involved in making this a reality.
04.01.2022 Architects in black declare emergency climate change action needed. This morning in Forrest Place.
04.01.2022 And more houses of the Banda Islands
03.01.2022 One more hurdle jumped. One step closer to the first My Home houses for homeless people.
02.01.2022 This 50s house is about to be demolished to make way for a bespoke home for the new owners. There was some hesitancy (guilt) on my part about demolishing a usable solid brick and tile structure, until I was told that 95% of the materials will be recycled: bricks, roof tiles, jarrah flooring and roof framing. Most other materials will be crushed and used for road base. Sometimes good works are happening and we dont know it.
01.01.2022 Its a shame that the Design WA Panel wasnt up and running earlier. I am sure it could have made a valuable contribution to the unfortunate design outcome of the new hotel development on the waterfront in Albany. A little sensitivity and response to place would have been nice
01.01.2022 Why is the idea of living over a river so enticing? I have have long been fascinated by transition and the spaces in which it occurs. Maybe this is my ultimate transition, a constant state of living in transition.
