23.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that Lachlan Barnes was the recipient of the Robert Beggs Memorial - Vocational Education Award for 2020. Robert Beggs worked closely with Youth Express in the area of Vocational Education and the award acknowledges the achievements of students who have excelled in their area of Vocational Education. Due to work commitments, Lachlan was unable to attend the presentation however, he was fortunate to have both Mr Neal Read (Principal), Mr Sean Andrews (Director, Upper Hunter Schools) and his class teacher Miss Erin Carter present him with his award and prizes. Thank you to Youth Express in sponsoring this award and congratulations to our other successful nominees; Jack Hayes and Finlay McTaggart whose contribution to their studies in Primary Industries did not go unnoticed.
22.01.2022 Youth Mental Health Screening in Schools Students in Year 7, 8, and 9 will complete the survey in PD/H/PE classes in the coming weeks. All students in these year groups have been mailed home permission forms to be returned to the front office.

11.01.2022 Big Night In!!!
11.01.2022 Last week, Zahli and Porscha represented Muswellbrook High School as part of the Hunter Team at the CHS State Swimming Championships. The girls traveled to Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre to compete against the best swimmers in the state in the following events: Zahli 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, and 50m Freestyle Porscha 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 100m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly, and 200m IM... Although there were up to 30 athletes in each event, only the top 10 swimmers from the heats progressed through to the finals. The top 3 swimmers from the finals qualified for NSW All Schools Swimming Trials. Results Zahli - 50m Freestyle. Zahli placed 3rd in her heat and progressed through to the finals, finishing in 9th place. - 100m Freestyle. Zahli placed 9th in her heat. - 100m Breaststroke. Zahli placed 2nd in her heat and progressed through to the finals, finishing in 4th place. Porscha - 50m Freestyle 2nd place - 100m Freestyle 3rd place - 50m Backstroke 3rd place - 100m Backstroke 3rd place - 50m Breaststroke 3rd place - 50m Butterfly 3rd place - 200m IM 3rd place Zahli and Porscha should be extremely proud of their results and it is a reflection of their ongoing commitment to swimming. Also, a massive thank you to Zahli’s and Porscha’s parents for driving the students to and from the event and for their continued dedication to school sporting events.
10.01.2022 It is that time of year again! Year 11 Hospitality must complete a Pop-up Sandwich bar as part of an Event and their competencies. The students did a fantastic job the sandwiches were delicious.

07.01.2022 On Thursday 19th November, Year 9 students enjoyed Peer Support Training. Next year, these students will be the Peer Leaders for our incoming Year 7 group. A hug thanks to Miss Gomboso for organising the day, and Mr Royal and Miss Rosenkranc for running training sessions.

06.01.2022 On Wednesday, 18th November the Year 9 and Year 10 Japanese Continuers class participated in a culture lesson where they learnt to cook some popular Japanese dishes, Yakisoba (chicken noodle stir-fry) and Karee Raisu (curry rice). We were also fortunate to have a local Japanese teacher, Rumiko Sasaki join us. All groups demonstrated excellent teamwork and independence when creating their chosen dish. It was a lot of fun, a fantastic learning experience and everyone enjoyed their delicious dishes for lunch.
