15.01.2022 Friday night may go down in the MBS record books as one of the toughest and closest to call case competitions in its Alas, one team were crowned the winners of the 2021 Hult Prize pitch competition at MBS. A massive congratulations to .... Sukriti, Bianca & Jason (aka Brains for Grains)! ... Brains for Grains proposal is to unlock native grains as a commercially viable alternative to wheat, which is Australia's biggest agricultural export, but is at risk from climate change. They want to start a social enterprise that links talent in universities to the biggest problems, currently preventing native grains from becoming commercially viable. The enterprise will start with a 2 year pilot, in which they will be researching and articulating the value proposition of native grains, eg increased biodiversity, carbon sequestration, nutritional benefits and employment opportunities for indigenous Australians, in order to secure government funding for R&D into other barriers like specialized farming equipment. Brains for Grains will receive the trophy and be progressing to the Hult Prize Regional Finals for the chance to compete for $ 1,000,000. The team were thrilled with the win and stated that we're humbled to have been chosen to progress to the next round, after seeing some really amazing ideas pitched by our peers on Friday night. We're incredibly excited by the potential of native grains as a food source for good, and plan to use this opportunity to accelerate their uptake in Australia. " Congrats Brains for Grains! #hultprize
