25.01.2022 The fog is definitely clearing and the is beaming, but before we get too carried away we have this weeks games to take care of . . Firstly, congratulati...ons to Will Bushell (pictured) who made his first XI debut last week for the club. Will joined us from Adelaide Uni in the off season. It was a baptism of fire for Will playing NPL side Comets in the Cup, but his performance in goal was very strong and sees him lining up again for the First XI as we take on Noarlunga away in round 3 of the State League season. Also a shout out to Alex Twartz who got his first run in the First Team coming off the bench and looking comfortable at the level. Great opportunity for two of our u18 squad. . Three of our Community Men’s teams are popping over to Bellevue’s Heights to take on Sturt Lions, whilst the Div 5 squad wander off to Rostrevor for their game. With the recent positive results including a Cup win for the A’s the boys will be looking to keep up the momentum. . . The Academy (JPL) squads are off to all points of the compass from Taperoo to Modbury but the most interesting game will be the u13s as they take on the Hawks. It’s been a tough start for this predominantly new group, they’re certainly on a steep learning curve, but they’re improving each week and I’m sure will never give in against their more fancied opponents. Play hard, learn and you will prosper . Our Div 5 Women kick off the weekend for the the club tonight as they travel out to Elizabeth Downs for rare Friday night fixture. Then it’s back to St Francis de Sales College for the Div 6 Women on Sunday. Both squads have started the season well let’s hope they can keep it up. . . Finally, our Community Juniors are in action in the AHJFA, where there are a host of games back-to-back at Anembo Park, the future is on display pop down and check them out . . 19.01.2022 With a number of our teams finishing up this week it’ll be time to put the feet up and CELEBRATE the season’s achievements. . Not so for the State L...eague boys, they still have 5 weeks to go and after the top-of-the-table Modbury Vista last week, they pay a visit to second-placed Eastern United’s joint. It won’t be easy, but last time each squad ran the oppo to the wire, so with a bit of luck you never know . . The CSL boys will again grace the Cornerstone turf on Saturday, with the unfortunate exception to the Div 6 group who are down in the city. Those diehard Barker fans get down there and cheer them on as they aim to consolidate their ladder position . Our women’s coach will be hoping the ladies have a slightly more civilised Saturday evening and turn up on Sunday ready to attack the game. They’ve had a great season, finish it strong ladies . The u17 girls drew the short straw this week with an 8.45am kick off at Modbury Jets, hopefully they finish their season with a W. A great first season in the big leagues and plenty to build on for 2021 . Our little u12 JPL squad pop over to Woodside to visit our friends at the Hawks nest, I’m sure they’ll be made feel welcome. A number of late season injuries mean this fixtur...e is going to be a stern test of character for the home team. Play your ’s out lads . The CSL boys hit the road along with the Women’s team in what will be very challenging and season defining fixtures. All the best and bring the points home . The u15JPL squad is done for the season, finishing up last week. It was an interesting year for this newly formed squad, one which I think they learned plenty. It’s been a challenging stopstar...t year, so we thank all players, families and friends for their patience and cooperation to enable us to get the season completed as smoothly as possible . . 05.01.2022 It’s with immense pride the Mt Barker United Soccer Club would like to recognise the achievement of JPL player Savannah Daniels on making the FootballSA Under...15 Girls State Development Team. . We wish her well as she moves into the @footballsouthau pathway program full-time which takes her one step closer to realising her dream of playing for the Matildas. . Sav joined Mt Barker United five years ago after playing school soccer in year 3, she took up the challenge of playing in our JPL program three years ago after starting in the AHJSA. . She represented Regional SA, going to Singapore last year and was part of the FootballSA Under 14 ‘part-time’ State squad this year, which meant she could continue to play in the Mt Barker United JPL program this season. . As JPL club Mt Barker United is able to nominate players to trial for the State Squads, which our Women’s & Girls Coordinator, Stacey Beddow had no hesitation in doing for Sav this year and after 4 stages of trials throughout the year she has made the cut. . We just want to thank everyone at the club for supporting Savannah for the past 5 years with Mount Barker (she even wore her blue kit to every stage of the trials to represent Mount Barker United Soccer Club) Karen (Sav’s proud mum) . The club also recognises, a large part of Savannah’s success has been down to her putting in the work. The club endeavours to provide the best environment, support and opportunity to play at the highest levels for our players, which we’re continually improving year on year, but in the end it’s up to the individuals to chase their dreams and work hard. To say it’ll be a daunting task against ...one of the stronger NPL clubs is an understatement, last years NPL premiers will be tough. With nothing to lose we’ll give it a red hot crack . . Our Community Men’s As travel to Pulteney Grammar to take on their CSL Cup opponent. The Pulteney Old Scholars lads will prove a stern test for our boys but I’m sure they’ll give a good account of themselves against their more fancied opponents. . . Two of our Academy (JPL) squads start their Cup journey tonight with the u13s heading to Modbury for an late 8pm kickoff. At least it’s done and you’ll get a full long weekend before school starts again . The u14s are off to Cove Saturday morning in what will should be a winnable game against Cove JSL. Our other Academy (JPL) squads and both Women’s teams get a weekend off with byes through to the second round of their Cup competitions. .
