18.01.2022 On Monday, after 54 years, Frank McCabe Jewellers left 78 Gawler Place. My jewellers tools were replaced with claw hammers and jemmy bars. It has taken 4 weeks of fulltime hard work to gut the shop and take it back to its bare bones. Finally completed the defit on Monday, finishing one chapter. Now bring on the next.

05.01.2022 I thought I would share the defit journey. From the 4th of April to the 1st of May the defit and 'make good' took place. From the first cabinets removed, to an empty shell save 4 to 5 tons of safe that that secured 1000's of pieces of amazing jewellery over the years. With the removal of the safes and some mirrors we can see the remains of a decor long past. There is also a reminder that this Jewellery Shop belonged to another iconic Adelaide Family Jeweller before 1966. A w...ell preserved Budgens price tag for 271. We found some small treasures amongst the dirt but nothing extraordinary.
