25.01.2022 Wishing a very Happy Mother’s Day to the mums, grandmas and significant women in our lives. Thank you for your love and care. Enjoy your day.

24.01.2022 Our Mercy Day celebrations began with a school mass led by Fr Michael and the 1/2 Neighbourhood with the theme of Mercy and Grace. Food donated by families was gathered by our Year 5/6 Mini Vinnies. Learners from the 1/2 Neighbourhood brought vegetables from home and cooked buckets of soup with parent helpers and our Chaplain, Emmy Smyk. At McAuley we have a close relationship with St Vincent de Paul and Fred’s Van. This food will be distributed and hot soup served to tho...se in need. We sincerely thank our families for their generosity and wish you a relaxing break.

24.01.2022 Today was our inaugural Sports Day and what a magnificent day it was. Our drum core could be heard across the oval to start proceedings. Acknowledgement of Country, the National Anthem, a Welcome Prayer then it was time for each House to chant their War Cries. First was Baggot (red), then Doyle (yellow), Gallagher (green) and Coolock (blue). Of course, each House was louder than the one before!... The morning was full of activities with the running races starting after lunch. Congratulations to Coolock for winning the Spirit Cup and the McAuley Shield. They were jumping for joy at the exciting news. Emily Jones was awarded the Fastest Year 6 Girl over 100m and Jack Dermody was awarded the Fastest Year 6 Boy over 100m. Tasmin Stuart was awarded the Fastest Year 6 Girl over 400m and Dylan Bails was awarded the Fastest Year 6 Boy over 400m. Congratulations to these four inaugural McAuley champions. For entertainment, our Head of Music played in the breaks with musicians who teach at McAuley. There was even a conga line at lunchtime and the learners were having so much fun. Two outstanding moments were when our older learners from the same House would jump up and run alongside anyone struggling in the last stretch of the 400m. And at the end of the day when the Mercy Leaders all walked over to each other without any prompting and shook hands with each other. Our Mercy Keys in action.

23.01.2022 As part of our commitment to our local environment, students participated in a planting program from Brighton to Seacliff sand dunes. Working alongside local volunteers, representatives from Trees For Life (SA) and the City of Holdfast Bay, it was the biggest and most exciting bio-diversity initiative of plantings to date. A special thank you to Clare Lindop, Councillor for Seacliff Ward, on Holdfast Bay Council and Alex Gaut, Team Leader Environment & Coast City of Holdfast... Bay. See you in September for the weeding program! #RaisingHeartsAndMinds

21.01.2022 At McAuley we have a close relationship with St Vincent de Paul and Fred’s Van who deliver meals and snacks to the disadvantaged in our city. To show our support we invite our families to cook their favourite homemade pumpkin soup. We have three hampers of farm-fresh pumpkins in the Front Office and containers to store your soup. Call in today! Once your soup is made, please drop it into the office by Monday 10 August. On behalf of our ‘Mini Vinnies’ thank you for your time. #RaisingHeartsAndMinds

21.01.2022 The Official Opening and Blessing Liturgy was celebrated yesterday for McAuley Community School and Alive Hove by Archbishop O’Regan and assisted by Mons Dempsey, Fr Michael and Fr Dominick. 05.01.2022 Harmony Day is a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. From the traditional owners of the land to those who come from many countries around the world. Each Neighbourhood took part in meaningful discussions and activities interpreting the significance of belonging.

04.01.2022 Today we gather to remember those who have served to defend Australia. It is the anniversary of the day when Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on the beach at Gallipoli in Turkey on 25 April 1915. Since then, 25 April has been known as ANZAC Day. We honour the values of the original ANZACs loyalty, selflessness and courage. Lest we forget.

03.01.2022 This Holy Week our school community has been reflecting on the meaning of Easter. On Monday we celebrated the Passion of Jesus as we recounted his entry into Jerusalem. Yesterday, each Neighbourhood shared in a Last Supper Liturgy breaking bread together and drinking grape juice. Today, Year 5/6 helped us reflect on the Stations of the Cross as Jesus walked his Way of the Cross.... We learnt that ‘for every beginning there is an ending and for every ending there is a new beginning’. Wishing you a peaceful Easter with your family and friends.

03.01.2022 We marked Remembrance Day with a Whole School Service and one minute silence at 11am. Then our learners gathered in the Plaza to place red poppies on the grass as a sign of respect. Our school leaders visited Townsend Park to chat with residents about the meaning of Remembrance Day to them and to hand deliver a basket of poppies. It is always a privilege to spend time with our neighbours.... These poppies were made by our Reception and 1/2 learners from recycled paper and water. They can be planted, as seeds of parsley, lettuce or Californian Poppies are sprinkled inside.

01.01.2022 Today our Year 6 School and Mercy Leaders participated in a Reflection Day at St Joseph’s Catholic Parish. Families were invited to an afternoon mass by Fr Michael where the Leaders were presented with their badges.... In their call to leadership, they pledged to lead by example of our Mercy Keys of Respect, Compassion, Gratitude, Courage and Creativity. Congratulations to all.
