25.01.2022 Preach Not an easy time for us in Victoria right now, so why not ask someone today "R U Ok?" (other variations available). Now is a good a time as any.

24.01.2022 Today's fund raising spotlight belongs to one of the many sibling groups in the club: Charlie Hamilton & Hugh Hamilton. Between them they're aiming to clock up 400km this month to raise funds for Covid-affected communities in Madagascar. More info here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/kilometres-for-komba

23.01.2022 Thanks to the Efforts of all the committees singling out Craig Gration Brian Lane (Simon Hood) other than a Handover Photo we are Official.

22.01.2022 A short message from our Chair, Craig Gration, looking forward to 2021 - our 60th anniversary year - ahead of our 2020 AGM

21.01.2022 #MCCHCkeepinghockeyalive Just because I miss Hockey.... No order just shots that tell a story...

21.01.2022 "Effective immediately, Hockey Victoria will suspend all HV hockey activities and encourage clubs in metropolitan Melbourne to suspend all training activities." All MCC Hockey sessions tonight and tomorrow night have been cancelled, ahead of the following 6 weeks of Stage 3 Restrictions. Thank you to all our volunteers and coaches who have worked so hard the last 2 months to get everyone back and training, and to all our players for sticking by the protocols and doing what ...was needed. We are gutted, just as you are. Whilst the Exec, HV and other sporting bodies take the time necessary to work through what this means for hockey - and fees - in 2020, please be patient with us, look out for each other, and stay safe. We'll have more updates as things progress.

20.01.2022 A blast from the Hockeyroos' past, but very much a part of our present. Georgia has been a member of the MCC Hockey coaching team since 2019, working across our sections developing close skills and goal shooting sense, among others. Not that our members need any assurances of the experience and quality she offers, but just to be sure, here she is in action for her country at the 2014 World Cup.

18.01.2022 2020 is a write-off, so let's instead look forward with optimism to options for the 2021 season... HV are currently seeking feedback from all registered members (both players and officials) to determine the best competition formats, dates, etc for 2021, including a potential early March start, and offering two shorter seasons instead of just one. The more feedback the better, so if you've got a spare 5 mins please check out the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/S7X...WD5N The survey will close at 5pm Friday 25th of September, 2020

18.01.2022 Our Thursday FRIS is Brenton Newnham. Brenton is lucky enough to be based in Geelong these days, meaning he's free to rack up some big big distances without just doing circuits of the neighbourhood. Benno is also taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge, same as Anthony Traill, but is targeting 250km. You can donate to support work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer here: https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Riders/BrentonNewnham

18.01.2022 Thank you to all our members for your patience as we have waited for Hockey Victoria’s updates on their finances and fee requirements for 2020. The year has been difficult for us all and the outlook for community sport in Victoria is still uncertain. HV have now determined what team entry fees we as a club must pay for this year (we expect them to send out information on their own revised individual player registration fees this week). As a result, the Committee has been abl...e to consolidate and adjust our own finances such that we can now confirm revised nominal membership fee amounts across the section. These new fee rates, as well details of the credit/refund system, have been emailed to all members. If you have not received this communication, please contact your respective Committee representative. More information here: https://www.mcchockey.org.au/2020-membership-fees-reset/

17.01.2022 First up in our 2020 Fund Raising Spotlight... Anthony Trail. A stalwart of the club, here's what he's up to this month: This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!... Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. Together, we can save little lives. Thanks for your support. https://greatcyclechallenge.com.au/Riders/AnthonyOwenTraill

16.01.2022 As MCC Hockey Section is an all-inclusive club I thought I would get down to the Women's Thursday Funday it was so good to catch up with lovely people that I ha...ve not seen for 5 months. On the way home I stopped and reminisced at the site of our Home Grounds at Albert Park Lake and left with the thought that Elwood is the Perfect spot and ground to be as close to our beginnings as a Club. 14.01.2022 Good luck to all our Year 12s sitting exams today! You'll be out on the field having fun again in no time.

12.01.2022 Sad but inevitable news. A massive thank you to everyone who has put in so much work throughout the last few months and beyond to get this season going. Hockey Victoria's team has been exceptional. A note has gone out to all our members from Craig Gration, our Chair, on what's next.

12.01.2022 Our friends over at Camberwell Hockey Club are hosting a webinar tonight on maintaining resilient families during this Covid era. We have many families within our MCC Hockey community, and many more besides living with them, so please feel free to join if you are wondering how to get through this second wave as positively as possible. Details attached.

12.01.2022 Mel Casey sports her Women’s Round medal (and some beaut nails) following WPL’s game against Yarra Valley. What a lady

11.01.2022 It's not for nothing that our best or most improved young player award for the Women’s Section is named The Dobson Trophy. Created in 1999, the award is in honour of former Hockeyroos and Olympians Christine & Louise Dobson, in recognition of their service to MCC Hockey and Nunawading Women’s HC (one of the Women’s clubs that merged to form MCC Women in 1989). Here Louise is in action at the 2002 World Cup.

11.01.2022 Though they haven't said as much, we've no doubt our members have been sorely missing the lack of opportunities to partake in Club fundraising initiatives this year! () So much so, in fact, that some have taken it upon themselves to raise funds for other charities and causes close to their hearts at this time. That is of course fantastic. Therefore, we thought we'd take the next week or two to highlight the great efforts of some of our members, with links and other informat...ion for donations. If you're a member and involved in any charity sponsorship activities just now, please just reach out if you'd like to be included - we'd love to try and help! 10.01.2022 Here’s hoping Santa brings you the new stick you wanted for Christmas

09.01.2022 Great news this week - well done to all our members and friends in Melbourne and Victoria who have done it so tough these last few months. The hard work has paid off! With the easing of restrictions, we can now look more closely at getting our members back out onto the pitch in 2020, starting with our juniors. More to come soon.

09.01.2022 Last minute FY2020 tax deductible donation?? Donations of $2+ are tax deductible! https://asf.org.au/donate/mcc-hockey-club-development-fund/

08.01.2022 Our budget doesn’t quite allow for the same messaging... but same.

07.01.2022 Our new ground down at Elwood College is already proving a huge success and fantastic asset for both the Hockey Section and the Elwood community (we’ve had a number of new local joiners and third-party hirers already). The pitch has been the culmination of years of hard work, spearheaded by the Section’s own project team of Craig Gration, Brian Lane and Simon Hood, alongside incredible support from the MCC and many others. This video from our project partners Polytan captur...es the last few months of that work in all its glory. A big thanks to them - she plays like a dream (especially with a bit of rain earlier in the day)! Hockey Victoria, we hope you like it.

06.01.2022 Boys and girls hockey for all levels MCC Hockey is running a FREE Back to Hockey program for boys and girls aged 5 years and up (with no or some hockey experience). 05.01.2022 Last chance to have your say on Vic hockey in 2021

05.01.2022 Saturday was a momentous day for MCC Hockey and our members, with our juniors back on the pitch after months of lockdown. It was great to see so many faces again, both new and old, and a huge thanks to all those who helped make the day possible. We even had new MCC "merch" we would have never considered pre-2020: branded face masks! There will be 3 more Saturday sessions through November as part of our FREE Back to Hockey program. All sessions are being held at our new Elw...ood ground, a fantastic new facility for hockey in Melbourne. To find out more and to register head to https://www.mcchockey.org.au/hockey-is-back/. With our 10th straight "donut day" today, we are also optimistic about seeing our senior members playing again very soon! Hockey Victoria Hockey Australia #weareback Melbourne Cricket Club

05.01.2022 Our final FRIS of the week is Colin Edwards. He actually completed his fund raising challenge in September, but you can still donate and help him hit a big round 1k in donations (doubling his target) at the link below. Col had his crack at The Long Run to raise funds and awareness for Aussie men and families fighting prostate cancer. A huge congratulations to all our members across the club putting in big distances for various causes this year. You do us a huge honour and w...e are delighted to have you at MCC Hockey. Thank you. https://www.thelongrun.org.au/fun/colinedwards/the-long-run

04.01.2022 "We all continue to be challenged in 2020 through the events of COVID-19... Today management met with the clubs impacted by the post code shut down and have worked through a range of practical solutions to ensure we can commence the 2020 season where it is safe to do so as per the scheduled round 1 dates... So again, I wish to reiterate based on the Victorian Government’s and the Chief Medical Officers advice we will continue to encourage all of our clubs to train and prepare... for the season starting in the next 2-3 weeks, while sticking to all health, safety & hygiene measures already in place... Keep up your amazing passion for our game and keep working as hard as you can to work towards round 1 which is just around the corner." MCC Hockey is with you all the way Hockey Victoria

03.01.2022 Pre Christmas Hit out Practice Match for MPL/MPLR and Umpires just to find out how much fun you can have on the pitch even in 2020 the only blowout seen was a pair of boots. Look forward to more shots in January 2021. Hockey Victoria MCC Hockey Section

02.01.2022 The weekend is upon us, and with this year's Olympics postponed, there's never been a better time to dive back into the archives to the Undisputed Greatest Games Ever: Sydney 2000. This Sunday evening www.hockey.org.au are showing the entirety of the Hockeyroos' historic gold medal performance, which featured MCC Hockey player Claire Mitchell-Taverner. Tune in at 7pm. 01.01.2022 One for all our young ladies!

01.01.2022 Midway through the week, and for today's FRIS (fund raiser in spotlight) we're taking a moment to highlight someone from the club who isn't even playing. Alison Foenander chairs the men's section, and is leading by example as she looks to clock up some big KMs this month as part of a Walk for Mental Health Research. A staggering 1 in 5 people experience symptoms of mental illness each year, and discussing and supporting mental health issues is an increasingly important init...iative for both HV and the club.
