25.01.2022 Hi everybody! Well, the weather forecast isn’t looking too crash hot for this weekend, but don’t let that get you down in the doldrums! There are always options when it comes to wetting a line, so here’s a run-down of what’s been happening out on the water recently. Out wide (and not too far out) there have been some good Yellowfin in the 30-70kg range and good numbers of Albacore caught over the past few days. The majority of fish were found in 80-100 fathoms with most fish ...caught on the troll. For those who were prepared, casting stickbaits at fish up on the surface has also been highly successful. The weather this weekend might not be ideal for a trip out wide, but it is perfect to get your Tuna gear together and organised. Closer in, we’re still waiting for the Kingfish to show up in numbers (which they will do), but until then it’s been all about Snapper. There have been some very good fish caught over the last week, with the average size being around 50-65cm. Sounding around then drifting baits back down a berley trail has seen the most fish caught, although plastics have been working well for those guys and girls who are willing to put in the time and search for likely looking structure. Unfortunately, the ‘couta have made a costly nuisance of themselves for a few guys lately too. So, if they turn up, don’t be afraid to implement plan B and save yourself the headache. The big springtime Flathead are certainly making their presence felt right now. Plenty of good fish approaching the magic metre mark are being caught (and thankfully released), and they’re responding to pretty much anything you can throw at them. Plastics, hard bodies and vibes have been doing wonders in the deeper stuff as have shallow divers, surface stick baits and larger swim baits over the flats. If you’re after that trophy sized lizard, now’s the time to concentrate your efforts. The river is also fishing well. Bream and Flathead are fishing consistently well, but the stand out has been the size of the Luderick encountered. There have been some thumping big fish caught recently with weed flies seemingly being the go to bait of choice. Further upstream, the Bass fishing has been going from strength to strength. The surface bite has kicked off, so make sure you’ve got plenty of Cicadas in your tackle box. Try not to decorate too many trees, but just remember, for best results, you gotta throw ‘em like they’re stolen! Well that’s about it for now. As I said before, the weather doesn’t look too crash hot for this weekend, but you can’t catch fish from your couch. Sometimes you just have to suck it and see...you never know, you may just have an absolutely cracking session. Cheers guys, see you on the water! 23.01.2022 Hi everybody! With the weather looking good this weekend, it’s time to get the gear ready and form your plan of attack! All that dirty water that we’ve had has started to clear, the days are getting longer, Spring is just around the corner and the fishing is just getting better and better! Up and down the coast, our estuary systems have been fishing well over the past week with plenty of well conditioned Bream and Flathead being caught. Concentrating your efforts in the deepe...r sections should see best results, although it’s always worth a few casts along the shallow drop offs and weed lines. It won’t be long before the big Flathead shake off their winter doldrums and begin doing their thing! Snapper have been in focus with all that dirty water we’ve had. Providing the wind wasn’t blowing too hard, the guys that have put in the effort over the past week have been equally rewarded with good numbers of reddies up to around 70cm. They have been a little sporadic, so if you’re chasing them this weekend it pays to be mobile and be prepared to move around until you find them. If you’re after a feed and some hard fighting fish, the Drummer have been firing lately. Whether you wander down to your favourite rock ledge or fish the washes from a boat, these fish will certainly put a smile on your dial and keep you entertained for hours. Out wide, there’s good water and weather forecast this weekend making it perfect to chase Bluefin and Yellowfin Tuna. There’s a good temperature break up and down the coast at the moment, and there have been a few very good fish caught this week so now’s the time to get out there and create greatness! And just a reminder, don’t forget about Dad! Fathers day is just around the corner and we’re giving away a free rod with every $100 gift voucher bought for Fathers day! Now’s the perfect time to come in store for great gift ideas for Dad. Whatever fish you’re chasing, the weather looks like it’s giving us a break this weekend so get out there and have some fun...there’s something on offer for everyone. Cheers guys, see you on the water! Pictured: Glen Sherriff displaying cold water Bream and Flathead, and G with a tasty Pig

13.01.2022 Hi Everybody! Well, what a fantastic start to the Bass season it has been, and by all indications it’s looking to continue to get even better and better. Good numbers of fish are being caught in the river with some great EP’s in amongst them. Slow rolling deep divers have been producing the majority of fish caught around reeds and boulders, along with vibes and chatter baits beside the steeper rock walls. I know it’s still early, but some fish are already taking surface lures... in those well guarded secret shallow creeks...fingers crossed it’s not too long before we hear the cicadas sing! Further down river, all your bread and butter species are fishing well if you’re after a feed. Bait seems to scoring the most fish, but the softies like the ever reliable Squidgies Bloodworm wriggler continues to produce. If fishing after dark is your thing, get your hands on some live nippers and target the big Blackfish that are biting at night. Out front, there hasn’t been anything too spectacular to report unfortunately. There have been a few decent kings caught and some sporadic Snapper for those who have actively gone searching for them, and with the wind forecast for this weekend, perhaps staying in more enclosed waters would be a better bet. Squidding in the bay has been pretty consistent recently. Although the average size hasn’t been anything to write home about, the numbers that some guys have been catching more than makes up for it. And as for the Basin, it’s still cold in there...but it will warm up! Most lure fishos have been doing it pretty tough, although a few Flatties in the mid 70’s have been reported. Fishing with bait has seen the most consistent results, particularly with the resident Snapper population. Setting up a berley trail and fishing unweighted baits has seen the best results. And once again, don’t be afraid to fish the shallows and drop offs for those big Flathead...now is the time that they traditionally start to fire and being the first to score a meter fish will ensure bragging rights amongst your mates. Lastly, don’t forget about our $500 Berkley prize pack giveaway that’s running in store right now! Come in, and every time you purchase a Berkley product you go into the draw to win $500 worth of Berkley products! There’s also another $500 prize pack up for grabs when you like, share and tag the Berkley comp post on our FB page! Well, that’s it from me for now. Don’t forget it’s the long weekend so get up early if you want to beat the crowds at the ramp. Cheers guys, see you on the water! 06.01.2022 Hi everybody! Spring has certainly sprung and everyone’s attention has turned to Bass! The river has been fishing well and with the days increasingly getting longer there’s now plenty of light left to have a quick fish after work. Fishing deep with divers and vibes has seen the best results (although chatter baits and jig spinners are holding their own) on Bass with some cracking EPs thrown in amongst them. As per usual, darker lures in black and browns have been the stand ou...t colours of choice. Further downstream, the fishing in the river has started to improve after all that fresh. Flatties and Bream have been the staple for most guys throwing plastics around, plus there are some thumping big Luderick moving into the river. Don’t despair if you can’t source green weed, squirt worms and weed flies have been doing the trick just as effectively. As for the Bay, the Squid fishing seems to be improving, although patchy at times...wherever you find one, there’s sure to be more. The fishing in the washes for Drummer has continued to be excellent with a lot good sized fish being reported (along with plenty of hooks and sinkers being restocked into customers tackle boxes). The Snapper fishing has been a little hit and miss in close, however, there has been consistently better fishing out on the deeper reefs using micro jigs and soft plastics such as the new Berkley skid Jigs and Gulp paddle tails. Just be prepared to move around until you find them. The Basin still hasn’t completely woken up from its winter slumber just yet. Traditionally, the first week of October sees the Basin begin to fire, although some good Flatties up to around the 75cm mark have already been caught. Some guys are swearing the deeper sections are fishing better, and others say the shallows are where the actions at...just be prepared to alter your approach and success won’t be far away. Well, that’s about it from me for now. Whatever you do this weekend, do it well. Cheers guys, see you on the water!
