25.01.2022 Hi Everybody! Just a quick one for todayOutside, the current is now running uphill and that means one thing-Yellowfin! There have been some cracking good fish caught this week, and the early start to the season promises plenty of time to get amongst them. There’s good looking water showing from Bermi all the way up to the back of the Banks. Trolling a varied spread of lures such as the Halco Max bibless, Laser Pros, Profidgies (new colours in store now) and skirts will have ...all your bases covered with an appealing offering once you find the fish. With the forecast certainly looking do-able, it’s time to get the boat loaded and burn some fuel. And whilst we’re talking things with yellow fins, there has also been some very good kings being caught at the moment if travelling out wide isn’t your cup of tea. Live baits are proving their undoing, and although tough to come by, it’s worth persevering to fill the tank as there are also plenty of Sweep and Leather Jackets making it hard to get a bait to marked fish. Most fish are being caught around the Banks and the Mud, but they have also been turning up sporadically under the cliffs. Stickbaits are also working, so don’t forget to bring a longer rod. As always, don’t be shy to come in and say hi, check out our range of latest and greatest Tuna lures and get up to minute info on what’s going on out there. Cheers guys, see you out there! Pictured: All 'round top bloke Andy with a great Yellowfin aboard Slay'n to start the season, and a small selection of the Tuna lollies available in store now

22.01.2022 Hi everybody! The holidays are upon us and the silly season is in full swing! Although the weather forecast has been somewhat iffy, there have been plenty of opportunities to get out, wet a line and escape the Christmas madness, and good thing toothe fish are going off! Outside, there’s plenty of bait getting around and some good looking water which has been more than enough to spur into action quite a few fishos looking for their first stick face for the season. A few fish ...have been reportedly caught already and with Sundays weather seemingly ideal, why not fill the boats fuel tank and head wide in search of greatness? Closer in, the Kingfish have been causing quite the buzz over the past week with plenty of legal sized fish keeping anglers entertained. Whilst most fish have been ranging from rats to 80cm models, which are providing great fun and terrific eating, there are certainly much bigger models in amongst them! Whether you’re chasing them on conventional tackle or jumping in the water, being out there early has rewarded those willing to set their alarms early. Something no one can ignore right now is that deafening buzzing sound coming from the trees that no Bass angler can ignore! This Bass season has been going from strength to strength and is showing no signs of slowing down any time yet. The surface bite has been going off with soft shell and Jackson cicadas proving deadly, and not just on Bassplenty of trophy sized Bream have come undone too! The Basin is fishing consistently well at the moment for all the usual suspects, with plenty of trophy sized Flatties being released and plenty of 40-50cm models providing some fine eating. With the summer sun warming the flats, now’s the time to enjoy some champagne surface action for everything from Flatties to Whiting. Sugar Pens to Crossfires, whatever it is, get out there and have some fun! With school holidays officially beginning, now is the perfect time to get our budding junior anglers out there. Whether it be mucking about on the local wharf catching tiddlers, or whatever stage your kids are at, seeing the excitement in their eyes and the beaming smile when they catch a fish just cannot be beat. Just remember to make it fun and not to get too upset when they eventually out-fish you (which they inevitably will)! And finally, don’t forget to drop in and check out our Christmas catalogue specials. We’ve got something for everyone and can cover all your needs for everything from getting your kids their first fish to anything for the fussiest seasoned angler. Cheers guys, See you on the water! 12.01.2022 Hi Everybody! I hope we have all been earning our brownie points this week because the weather forecast for the weekend looks fantastic! Whatever kind of fishing you’re into, the conditions promise to be as close to perfect as can be. The beaches have been fishing very well with Whiting, Bream, Tailor, Salmon and Jewfish all on the cards. There’s plenty of Whitebait around so don’t forget to pack some small metal slugs in your arsenal. Now’s the time to get some sand between ...your toes before it gets too cold. In the Bay, there are still numbers of Mack Tuna, Longtail and Bonito busting up all over the place. Make sure you have an outfit rigged with a metal or stick bait in the boat at the ready, you never know where they’re going to turn up, and you have to be quick! The Snapper fishing is still going gang busters too. I have no doubt there will be some cracking good fish caught this weekend with the high tide coinciding with sunrise and sunset. There are also some good Kings still kicking around which is great! As always, they do move around a bit, but plenty of fish have been caught throughout the week in all their usual haunts from the Banks, the Sideboards to the Bay (and everywhere in between). Just fill the bait tank as quickly as you can and put your plan into action! Fishing in the river is slowly improving, with most of the action happening down stream. Flathead have been the big draw card around Greenwell Point and surrounding areas, however the Luderick fishing has really been taking off with reports of great numbers of fish being caught (and good ones too)! Green weed or weed flies during daylight hours, nippers or squirt worms at night. As I said before, whatever fishing you’re into, this weekend looks to be a cracker so get the gear ready and go out there and make it great. Cheers guys, see you on the water! Pictured: Dave with a great fly caught Luderick Mr Dean Henry-Smith with a stick bait caught Longtail Young Finn Osterloh with a fantastic King

08.01.2022 Hi everybody! Happy New Year! I trust you’ve all had a great break and have been making the most of all the terrific fishing that’s on offer at this time of year. The Marlin bite out wide has been creating the biggest buzz at the moment. When the weather has allowed, many crews have scored multiple fish per day, with some managing double and triple hook ups! Walking livies around marked bait is the most utilized method of getting connected, but dragging skirts and covering gr...ound while looking for signs of life is also producing its fair share of fish. The Kingie bite is still going strong. As always, the majority of fish caught have been around that 60-80cm mark but there plenty of bigger fish being landed, with reports of numerous unstoppables being hooked as well. The Snapper bite has continued to grow, with more than a few good specimens snaffling large live Squid being trolled for kings in close. Plastics, soft vibes and even hard bodies are taking fish, as has the tried and true method of anchoring and drifting baits down a berley trail. The surface bite on the flats has taken off and is set to continue. In the river, everything from Bass to Whiting is playing the game up top, depending on where you are of course. For the bait fishos among us, the river is producing good numbers of all the bread and butter species, so keeping a feed or keeping the kids entertained through the holidays couldn’t be easier. The Basins surface action is firing too! Whether from a boat or wading, a relaxing session on the flats just can’t be beaten. There are plenty of big Flatties, Bream and Whiting on offer in the shallows (and in the deeper stuff too), so get out there and have some fun! That’s all from me for now, so get outside and enjoy the rest of the season! Cheers guys! Pictured: G with a fair Reddie on a soft vibe. Glen with a Whiting taken on the surface
03.01.2022 Hi everybody! The Easter Holidays are in full swing, the weather gods are being kind and the fishing’s been red hot! Out wide, there have been a few good Blue Marlin caught when the weather has allowed, along with the odd Wahoo and Dolphin fish but the real interest has been the good water pushing in past the Banks, hitting the cliffs and into the bay (and the fish that come with it)!... The Bay is firing across the board, but it’s the Kings that are generating the most interest at the moment, and their average size is pretty good too. Most fish have been in the 75-90cm range, however, as always there have been plenty of unstoppables hooked as well. Live baits such as Squid and Slimies are proving most popular, but jigs, plastics and surface lures are all taking their fair share of fish. The Snapper bite is going from strength to strength. Fish are being caught across the boardshallow reefs, deeper reefs and in the washes. Plastics and soft vibes are proving deadly, as has the good old reliable bait such as Pillies in a berley trail or fresh slimy fillets. There’s good news for those of you who like spinning metals from the stones too. Tailor, Salmon, Bonnies, Kings and even longtail are all on the cards right now. There’s plenty of Whitebait around, so matching your lures profile accordingly should see you come up tight. For a bit of holiday fun, take the kids Squidding! There’s plenty of them in the bay at the moment with all the usual haunts such as Murrays and Honeymoon producing plenty of Squid for live baits or dinner plates. The average size is getting up there too making for some delicious dinners. The Basin is still fishing well for seemingly everything you’d expect to find. With the discoloured water, brighter coloured plastics are scoring plenty of Flathead and Bream. It’s also a good time to make the most of the surface action on the flats while it lasts. Surface stickbaits like the new Daiwa Slippery Dog are scoring their fair share of fish. As for the river, the effects of the flood are still being felt with most areas still being quiet, however down river the fishing is definitely improving with reports of good catches of Flathead and Luderick where the ocean tides have more influence. That’s it from me for now. With seemingly everything on offer, now’s the time to get out and make the most of such diverse fishing available while there’s still enough daylight and warmth in the sun. Cheers guys, See you on the water! Pictured: G with a decent King caught on a big live Squid Dave with the spoils of a session in the Basin

21.10.2021 Hi everybody! Well, the weather hasn’t been too crash hot lately, but the fishing has been going from strength to strength! With the school holidays drawing to a close, now’s the time to take the kids out and get them tight to some good fish to end the holidays on a high note. With all the rain we’ve been having lately, water quality in the river and the Basin hasn’t been the most conductive to terrific fishing. Nevertheless, some good fishing is there for those willing to pu...t in the work. Up river, the Bass are still biting. Sub surface fishing seems to be the more consistent way to get connected to these brawlers in the river, and surface lures in the dams. Down river, there have been plenty of Bream and Flathead on offer, along with reasonable numbers of Mulloway for those who have put in the time to target them. Live baits have been the go-to for the silver shadows, although plastics and vibes have been accounting for their fair share of fish too. The beaches have been fishing rather well for good numbers of quality sized Whiting, along with plenty of Salmon to keep the lure casters entertained. Out the front, the mighty Kingfish have started to show up with some good fish being taken slow trolling livies. You may need to stay mobile and be prepared to move spots until you find them, but as we all know, once you do, it’s worth it! While all this is good, the big buzz going around is that the Marlin have shown up, and in good numbers. From the back of the Banks and heading south, plenty of boats are reporting multiple fish per outing with the majority of the bites coming from around the tide change. There’s a lot bait stacked up along the shelf to fill the tank with, and more than a few bait balls have been seen with plenty of fish on them. If trolling a spread is your thing, don’t forget to have something out for a Dolly! Whilst most have been on the smaller end of the scale, some cracking fish have been taken over the past week producing some tasty tasty fillets. That’s about it for today. As I said before, the school holidays are nearing the end, and with the new school year looking to be anything but smooth sailing once again, why not get the kids out fishing and finish the holidays with a bang, and create some great memories along the way! Cheers guys! See you on the water (just don’t follow me...you'll do better if you don't!) Pictured: Three proud Dad moments! Dustin Toovey with a 39cm (fork!)
