18.01.2022 In recent days there has been some confusion about travel and participation in Metro clubs. The following is the latest advice we have received ....... 1. Worke...r permits are now only required for metro-regional or regional-metro travel. 2. If work travel is within either region, no permit is required. Metro-regional or regional-metro (permit) 3. If I live in metro Melbourne, and work in regional Vic (or vice versa), I can cross the border to work, using a worker permit. 4. I can then exercise within 25kms of my workplace. 5. If I’m not working on that day/time (eg weekends), then I can’t rely on the permit for sport and rec purposes and I can only exercise within 25km of home - substantial penalties apply for breaching this CHO direction. Metro only (no permit) 6. If I’m travelling within the metro region to work, then I no longer need a permit to work. 7. I can then exercise within 25kms of my workplace. 8. If I’m not working (eg weekends), then the usual 25km limit for sport and rec applies. 9. Participation in sport and rec beyond 25kms of my residence would breach the CHO directions and the relevant penalties would apply. Short version regardless of whether you need a work permit or not, exercising 25kms from your workplace only applies when you are at work, otherwise it’s 25kms from home only. You can’t just pretend you are at work and use it as an excuse to go beyond 25kms from home for exercise. There are very large fines for both club and individuals if the rules are flouted and they become even bigger if you have found to have stretched the truth about using a permit.

18.01.2022 Advice from VCTA regarding Club Shooting Programs. Dear VCTA Club Members, The current environment that we find ourselves in, with the outbreak of the COVI...D-19 virus, is one that places significant challenges in front of all of us. The VCTA office has received a number of calls and queries in relation to club shoot programs and practice. The decision as to whether to cancel or proceed with club events is not without its challenges. On one hand participants in our sport enjoy the competition and camaraderie of clay target events. For many it is a once or twice a week active, outdoor activity that they look forward to. On the other hand, a great deal of government and health department advice emphasises the need for restricting non-essential sporting activities and social interaction. Included in all of this is the financial question of clubs being able to remain profitable if they are not carrying on their usual competitive activities. As a result of this the VCTA believes that the decision as to whether a club continues with their club competition and practice lies solely with the club and its members. Using the best available advice from local, state and federal government as well as the advice of the relevant health department bodies, individual clubs need to make decisions on their activities that are in the best interest of their members, the participants and the community in general. Common sense plays a large role in this decision making process. Government advice and health department directives are available on the internet and local government offices will readily assist with advice where sought. The critical element to all of this is to ensure the health and well-being of all our members. Follow local government and health department advice, implement good hygiene practices and ensure that we remain safe and healthy during these uncertain times. VCTA, as the state guiding body, will endeavour to provide updated information to members as soon as it becomes available. Yours in Shooting Lynne Curtis VCTA President

17.01.2022 Wow what an opportunity to attend a coaching clinic by two of the Worlds best shooters!

17.01.2022 Head over to @ausolympicteam tomorrow as I do a Instagram takeover and see what a day looks like for me as I train at home in Mulwala during the current isolation period.

17.01.2022 Its a shame but Im sure you guys will make up for it next year!

16.01.2022 There is no doubt that our current environment is not without its challenges - social, emotional and, in particular, from a health perspective. It is also with...out doubt that we would all like to get back shooting again. With things seeming like they are on the improve we would all like to be back breaking clays. There are currently rumours running rife that some Victorian clubs are starting shooting again. To our knowledge this is not the case. Victoria is still very much under the "four reasons" restrictions. With the possibility of improvement in circumstances on the horizon - the VCTA has written to the Minister for Sport, Mr Pakula, to ask that clay target shooting be considered in the first wave of any releasing of restrictions. We are currently waiting for a response. The key date appears to be May 11 as it on this date that current restrictions will be considered and, if feasible, any changes will be made. We wait with bated breath and will let our shooting community know as soon as possible if there is any news. See more

15.01.2022 Dear ACTA Clubs, Zones and Members Please be advised that, at this afternoons ACTA Executive Committee Meeting, a motion was unanimously passed to Cancel all ...ACTA National Events for 2020. This decision was made, primarily based on: the need to protect all members health and safety, (especially given the current escalating situation in Victoria and possibly beyond), Inability to predict the likely revisions to any State or Territory Health Department restrictions that may next occur, the deadlines approaching to timeframes in which administrative tasks need to be performed in order to adequately deliver the events, and the cost implications of attempting to stage events that will be severely under-subscribed. We will provide a more detailed report in the August Clay Target e-News which will go out to our members next week. Kind regards, Paul

11.01.2022 Shooting continues with restrictions in Victoria. To those members outside of greater Melbourne and Mitchell shire we hope you are continuing to enjoy the benefits that our sport offers, outside in the cool winter air with your friends. To those within the lock-down, limited practice is available at some clubs. This is the first time the Vic Gov has specifically included our sport in permissible activity in a restriction period. Congratulations to the VCTA for their lobbyin...g efforts. Frankston Australian CTC has continued to remain closed at this time and we will advise when that changes. In the meantime, enjoy your outdoor exercise, appropriately protected, and stay safe till we see you on a range soon. See more

11.01.2022 COVID19 Update The current health discussion and situation related to COVID19 impacts us in club life as well as our homes and workplaces. Our sport is regulated by the ACTA, VCTA, and FGA (and for some Sporting Clays Australia). All are advising that participation is available within Government guidelines. Many clubs are choosing to cancel events and in some cases close altogether. Frankston remains open with some modified operation in place. Please watch these groups for an...y updates before committing to attendance. Our view The MCC supports the healthy participation of sports within the guidelines as declared by the State and Federal Governments, Sports Associations and Sporting Sections. The MCC CTC mirrors those views and respects individual members who choose to not participate if they feel uncomfortable in doing so. Moreover we ask any member who feels at all at risk or compromised, or who may affect other club members or visitors at events, to please stay away. When attending, please respect and follow all safety guidelines in operation at that time. Within those broad guidelines we invite all members to continue enjoying our sport. These are rapidly changing times, but we will update all members with any significant variation to these recommendations. See more

The ban on ammunition and firearm...s sales in Victoria was a politically motivated decision made by the Andrews Government. It was not a decision made by the National Cabinet on COVID-19, as the State Government has asserted. The Premier must immediately overturn the ban. 02.01.2022 Olympians Russell and Lauryn Mark, the owners of the clay target coaching, entertainment and services company Go Shooting Pty Ltd, have now finished productio...n of six high definition online instructional videos on behalf of the Australian Clay Target Association. These were filmed at our National Shooting Range at Wagga Wagga in late June. The first video in this series is of particular importance to our Association. It is titled, An Induction to the Range - Welcome to the ACTA, this is an entertaining and informative eighteen minute visual tutorial specifically made for new and prospective ACTA members. It highlights some of the common safety rules and shooting procedures that beginners will be required to abide by when attending an ACTA range. This video will Premiere on the ACTA YouTube Channel on Tuesday July 7th at 7.30 pm (AEST). Anyone who is already subscribed to our channel will be notified and can watch the video live as it debuts. We are encouraging all ACTA clubs and members to provide the online link for this video to any new and potential members to help them understand how our sport operates. It can be viewed online at any time so when a novice initially arrives at the range, they wont feel overwhelmed by the protocols and sometimes confusing terminologies associated with clay target shooting. The video has been made with the intention of complimenting a practical hands on physical induction on the range, not replacing it, but we believe this will be an important tool to encourage potential members to join and participate in the ACTA disciplines. The remaining five coaching and instructional videos in this first series are also orientated towards newcomers and will be released fortnightly on the ACTA YouTube Channel. We suggest that all ACTA members to subscribe to this channel as the proposed second series will involve more technical topics that we believe will benefit both competitors and coaches. Once subscribed, members will be notified as each video is released. Subscription is completely free of charge. There are no credit card or personal details required, all you need to do is click on the red SUBSCRIBE icon located on the page. The link to watch the first video on our YouTube channel is; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzX_4XA8IvA We are extremely grateful to Russell and Lauryn for their huge effort in producing these videos and also the assistance of The NSW State Coach, Mr David Coleman and the Wagga Gun Club. Please assist us by sharing this post to as many affiliated ACTA Club, Zone, State and any other shooting related social media pages as possible. Thank you in advance.
