22.01.2022 The Colombian Coffee Co. director Daniel Mejia caught up with Sunshine Coast Daily last week to chat all things he loves about their new location at the MET and all things Arepas! Here's what he had to say.... We love what is happening onsite, there are tradespeople working on a number of construction sites and it’s really exciting that the first building Foundation Place is now open and filling up with workers. We know this is just the beginning with many years of on...site development ahead at the City Centre so we are taking a long-term view to this location with the potential to relocate into a building in future stages. Mr Mejia said the cafe would also bring a distinct Colombian culinary culture to the new CBD with the introduction of Arepas. Arepas are a warm corn pocket which can be filled with endless food combinations, they are a cultural staple of our home country Colombia and I am sure they will be an immediate favourite for all that try them, he said. They are similar to tortillas or a pitas and are usually filled with pulled meats, cheese and salads. They are naturally gluten free, dairy free and vegan as they are made of 100 per cent corn. OPENING HOURS Mon Fri; 6am - Noon | Sat; 7am - 11am Maroochydore - The Bright City

01.01.2022 This NAIDOC week we’d like to help shine the spotlight on Remote Laundries. Every human has the right to dignity and basic health services including access to clean clothes, but having a working washing machine with access to hot water and good detergent is much harder than you might think for some people. 2020 Refinery participant Jules Laidlaw - founder of The Clay Society Sunshine Coast Queensland is a former nurse. Through active involvement she knows first hand the posit...ive impact that Remote Laundries make, improving health, reducing disease and empowering communities. Her field trips into remote Aboriginal communities help educate and empower indigenous women through clay building workshops, and all purchases of her stunning work supports this program. Earlier this year, Jules teamed up with fellow The Refinery participants Cooper Brady Photography Thehuman Story and mentor Frankie Ratford. Their trip to Barunga, NT was to document the positive effects Remote Laundries is having on these communities by providing a fundamental service of clean clothes and bedding. Seeing this collaboration come to life is one of the all time highlights of The Refinery program.
