This is in addition to its legal remit to support South Australians aged 65 years and older, and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders aged 50 years and older.... The disability can be intellectual, psychiatric, cognitive, neurological, sensory or physical impairment, or a combination. The disability must be, or be likely to be, permanent. The disability must both reduce the person’s capacity for social interaction, communication, learning, mobility, decision-making or self-care, and necessitate continuing support services. People with a disability that is of an episodic nature are also covered. If you suspect you or someone you know is at risk of or is being abused, you can seek advice or make a report to the Adult Safeguarding Unit by calling the South Australian Abuse Prevention Phone Line on 1800 372 310, Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm. 01.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020 - https://mailchi.mp/40e7ad8ddd08/naidoc-week-2020

28.12.2021 Happy Australia Day to all our diverse communities and we would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the all the men and women on the frontline, risking their lives against COVID-19 to save ours. We are all part of the Australian story and MCCSA will like to acknowledge the traditional owners of this land while reflecting on our Australian journey. As a nation of many, MCCSA’s CEO Helena Kyriazopoulos said Australia Day is an opportunity for community leaders and t...heir members to take a pause and reflect on all the great things people who migrated to Australia have contributed to our society. Recognizing and respecting the cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land belief system of our first Australians is very important to our progress as a nation. Let use the day to reflect, listen and try to understand the story of our First Nations People’s culture and traditions as we are all now part of that story, said Helena. Helena said she hopes that we use this special day to celebrate, reach out to our neighbours and respect the stories of others while acknowledging the privilege of living in such a beautiful country. According to the Australia Day Council of South Australia (ADCSA) the story of Australia is the story of an extraordinary nation spanning 60,000 years with new chapters written every day. ADCSA encourages every Australian to acknowledge Australia Day in a way that’s meaningful to them as Australia Day means different things to different people. While there will be significant changes to Australia Day events program due to COVID-19 restrictions, ADCSA will begin Australia Day 2022 celebrations with a powerful Smoking Ceremony, hosted by senior Kaurna leaders on Kaurna land at Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama. In the customs of the First Nations peoples, the burning of native plants produces a cleansing of smoke for healing and acknowledgment on this day. The ceremony acknowledges the past, and present First Nations People and reflects on their relationship to Country, waters, and seas. Visit ADCSA website for more information about Australia Day Celebration activities. And of course there are other ways to mark Australia Day by getting out in your local community in a COVID Safe way, supporting local community groups and businesses. MCCSA would also like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new migrants who will become new Australian citizens on the 26th of January 2022. Happy Australia Day 2022!
