25.01.2022 An Interesting result When we were driving from Melbourne to Brisbane I did tests on highway fuel economy in my 6L SS Commodore. I needed to put some numbers on the difference between using air conditioning or not:... 1. AC off - the average litres per 100kms was between 8.0-8.2. 2. AC on - the average litres per 100kms was between 8.8-9.0 Now the trick to testing: You MUST repeat the same tests multiple times to be able to validate your findings. I ran the two tests five times each, ignoring any fuel consumption figures that involved stopping/starting, everything was done at highway speeds. After quite a few hundred kilometres I was pretty happy with my figures. To validate any findings you must be able to repeat the test and get results in the same range as earlier tests, if something dramatically changes (slight uphill road) this data will stand out as being different to the other multiple tests of the same scenario. I apply this thinking to as much of my tuning work as possible. Stay tuned for more of these finding by hitting the Like button, Sharing the post & Follow my page

24.01.2022 And with an M800. I always think "well it would be better with an M1 #MoTeC #3uz #m800 #Garrett

24.01.2022 What an awesome place. So many great products all built in house. F1 and general public items all assembled by the same people to the same high quality. Sorry, could not take pics

23.01.2022 Oh wow. There you go.

22.01.2022 A bit of market research from WTAC 2018.

21.01.2022 Picked up this little gem for a hill climb car. Only capable of low duty cycle but still gets 150psi. In hill climbs the car runs for a really short time so this will be fine. The owner wanted something simple and turn key.....no recharging high pressure bottles, etc.

21.01.2022 Hahaha, love it. #m1army

21.01.2022 Made this today for our subaru EJ20 dyno mule. It's a k type thermo couple that hangs down past the injector about 20mm into the cylinder head. I wanted to gauge how much cooling there was from one side of the injector to the other (the last thermo couple was much shorter). At about 50 degrees inlet air temp in the manifold (artificially raised) the temp drop before and after the injected fuel is about 20 degrees on petrol. Is the air dripping that exact amount or is the fuel just cooling the sensor.......don't have a proven answer as yet but the first thing is always do the test then see if it works mathematically.

21.01.2022 Twin turbo V8's, they ALWAYS make more power than anyone can use all of the time. The main trick is to work out when you can use that power. It's not a "how big are my b@$ls" question anymore....want to be fast? Manage your torque.

20.01.2022 I promise I will post some more glamorous pics soon but for now seminar notes rule. I will be flying to Jakarta Friday to help my friends at KS Motorsport Indonesia with a 2 day seminar and 1 day of training on the dyno.

19.01.2022 Today myself and Iain at MoTeC Queensland wanted to explore an interesting shifting situation. The Hewland gearbox in this Mosler has Neutral located halfway between 1st and 2nd gear. Some times this position is refered to as a "false neutral" on a failed shift. Iain and I had to make Neutral selection possible without interfering with the normal 1st to 2nd shift when the car is on track. It involved some lateral thinking and needs to be checked when the gearbox is up to full temperature........but we got a great solution in the end.

18.01.2022 A run on the dyno at Melbourne Performance Centre today to check the paddle shift. Who wants to know how to correctly measure shift times?

14.01.2022 Helpful Hint Wednesday. When you are asked to help with Paddle Shift tuning make sure the engine tuner understands the MASSIVE importance of this area of the Main Efficiency table.

13.01.2022 Day 2 of my seminar in Indonesia went just as well as the first. Again, thanks to Ovi and the guys at KS Motorsports for the oportunity

13.01.2022 I did this as a demonstration to a client of mine who had been twisting his wires with a drill. The one on the bottom was the drill twisted pair. I used a traced wire to show what happens.......can you see? The traced wire has a twist it self which stresses the wire and can make it more prone to failing. The pair on top was hand twisted.....see the trace? Much less of a twist in the wire. This top pair of wires will be way less stressed and a lot less likely to fail.

12.01.2022 Everyone who has worked with launch control needs to watch this. The first 200-300milliseconds of the take off is extremely interesting. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1956216174432239&id=297593000294573

11.01.2022 I was pretty excited to receive my new business cards in the mail.

11.01.2022 Got the Mosler on the dyno with MoTeC Queenslands Iain Williamson. The rolling road is the only way to got to save time and get the downshifts right. Still some track tuning to go.

08.01.2022 So the paddle shift system is on and working. I made it out of off the shelf pnuematic parts mainly to see if i could. Seems to work pretty well. 30msec response from paddle pull to gearbox wind up which is the first part of a shift and is comparable to the motorsport specific parts. Have no full shift times just yet as doing it on the stands puts no load through the drive train. Going on a rolling road dyno soon. #m1army #gprp #MoTeC #Holinger

07.01.2022 MoTeCs in-car warning system will once again play an important role in this weekends Bathurst 12 Hour event, helping to prevent major incidents on the fast, w...inding track. Drivers will receive flag alerts directly into their field of vision via a dedicated light display - a MoTeC SLM - immediately warning them of a change to the circuit state. The system successfully debuted at last years 12 Hour and has been used in every Supercars round since the 2019 Bathurst 1000, following a period of testing between MoTeC and Supercars. Read more about the system, including an article from the event program: http://bit.ly/MoTeCInCarWarningSystem Bathurst 12 Hour #B12hr #IntGTC #Bathurst12Hour #Supercars

07.01.2022 They gave us a fair bit of time to comment on the m150 Drag firmware in this one. #M150Drag #MoTeC #GMPWR Racing

07.01.2022 On the "tools" today. This monster needed some paddle shift tweaking for the Bathurst 12hr. It's great when you can point out the improvement not only in the data but also point out the change in the sound of the car.

06.01.2022 My new gearbox temp sensor. From www.msel.co.nz, small, cheap and up to 200degrees C.

05.01.2022 The first MMC (Mark McCoy Consulting) invoice has been issued and paid. It's a milestone that makes me feel like anything is now achievable. Thank you all for your ongoing support!!!

05.01.2022 Anothe car on MoTeC doing extraordinary things. May get an upgrade at some point

03.01.2022 Doen at CPWS in Brisbane today helping Steve with some multi throttle madness. This hot rod has a 1UZ V8 and multi throttles (cable throttle). As it sees only street cruising the balance of the throttles at idle and light load is extremely important. Balancing this type of manifold can be a bit time consuming but well worth it.

03.01.2022 Had a great time in Jakarta teaching all these guys. Thanks to KS Motorsport Indonesia for the invite, I hope we can do it again soon.

03.01.2022 Another piece in the puzzle. Sorry no video with a dog in it this time.

02.01.2022 Great to see this at night. Makes the whole game more surreal

01.01.2022 Lol. Ovi Sardjan making me look professional for my seminar in Jakarta this weekend.

01.01.2022 Hi everyone. Some exciting news. I am now starting my own motor sport electronics consultancy using all the info swirling around in my head from the last 25 years. Looking forward to doing more paddle shifted gearboxes, servo boost controllers, Drag Challenge cars, etc. Let me know what you need.
