24.01.2022 Did you know if you drink 1 x 600ml regu;ar soft drink everyday for a year you will drink 23kgs of sugar! Tooth decay is caused by bacteria in the mouth using sugar from foods and drinks to produce acids that dissolve and damage the teeth. Sugar sweetened beverages have high levels of sugar and drinking these can significantly contribute to tooth decay. ... To avoid decay -Drink soft drinks only in moderation, if at all. -Use a straw so your teeth are less exposed to the sugar and acid in the drink. -Take a drink of water, preferably tap water that has been fluoridated, after a sugary drink to help rinse out your mouth and dilute the sugars.

If nothing is done, the infection can spread and destroy the structures that support your teeth in your jawbone. Eventually, your teeth can become so loose that they have to be extracted. Periodontal diseases are infections of the structures around the teeth, which include the gums, periodontal ligament and bone. In the earliest stage of periodontal disease the in...fection affects the gums. In more severe forms of the disease, all of the tissues are involved, this is called gingivitis. It is advised by a dentist to have your teeth cleaned twice a year to help maintain healthy teeth and gums!
