24.01.2022 The first two rounds of the MNC Mcdonalds Premier League T20 cricket kicked off on the weekend and there were some mixed results for all clubs involved. Taree West took on Wingham and were sent in by Ryan Morris and after their allotted 20 overs it looked like a good toss to win as Taree could only scramble to 5 for 103. Captain Dean Mills and fellow opener Jamie Hartland were the only 2 batsmen to really trouble the scorers finishing on 31 and 34 respectively. Wickets were e...venly shared with Joshua McTaggart the pick of the wingham bowlers with 2 for 11 off his 4 overs. Wingham were then never really in the chase as wickets fell regularly to be bowled out for 79 with Michael Stinson top scoring with 23. Josh Meldrum picked up 3 for 8 off 4 overs. Wauchope went down to United in a game that could of went either way. Batting first Wauchope scrambled to 99all out with opener Nathan Lyon continuing his hot form with a quickfire 40.Justin Boyd was the pick of the united bowlers with 3 wickets. Wauchope then had united 6 for 67 with the game in the balance before Mick Collier 34 and Josh Ferris 26 guided their team to victory with 3.2 overs to spare. Rovers were too strong for Port Pirates compiling 8 for 133 from their 20 overs with Kurt Prosper 39 and Mitch Korn 59notout standing out. Brothers Bryce and Connor Cook took 2 wickets each. Pirates then finished on 6 for 119 to fall 15 runs short with Jarred Humphries playing a lone hand of 62. Jackson Korn with 2 for 16 was the pick of the Rovers bowlers. Wauchope then took on Wingham and bating first made 6 for 103 with 5 players making double figures. Nathan Lyon 25 and keeper Darren Bourke with 23 were the best with the bat. Steve Allwood picked up 2 wickets. Wingham chased the runs down with 4 wickets and 3.5 overs in hand with Ben Cole top scoring with 30. Will Clarke and Adam Murray both took 2 wickets each. In the Taree local derby United were way too strong for Taree west bowling them out for 69 with Josh Hartland 22 the only batsmen to offer much resistance. Sam Whitbread and Daniel Stone both took 3 wickets. United then knocked the runs off in 16.3 overs with the loss of only 3 wickets. Mick Collier top scored with 33. Port City in their only game for the day took on Rovers and came out on top. Rovers batting first compiled a very good 9 for 150 with Jackson Korn top scoring with 41. In a tense finish Port City won the game off the last ball and with only one wicket in hand. Best with the bat was Sean Minns with 34. Lachlan Munday picked up 3 wickets for rovers.

18.01.2022 Round 6 of the MNCC Mcdonalds Premier League seen some cricket finally played on the weekend after the last 2 weeks were called off and it didn't disappoint with some wonderful individual performances and some unexpected results in what is shaping up to be one of the closest competitions since its inception. At Wayne Richard Park the Pirates and Taree West played the match of the season so far with Pirates prevailing by just 1 run in a game that went down to the wire with it ...only being decided off the last ball of the game. Batting first Pirates managed to bat their 40 overs out to record 6 for 198 with Jarred Humphries top scoring with 57. Tom Connelly 35 and Will Marchant 32 chipped in with captain Connor Cook finishing on 33 not out. For Taree Ryan Williams , Josh McLeod, Josh Meldrum and captain Dean Mills took 1 wicket each. Taree then took the match down to the wire but unfortunately fell agonisingly short with the loss of 9 wickets. Too many batsmen got starts and couldn't go on with it with Paul Cox top scoring with 42. Ben De Braun was the best bowler for pirates picking up 4 for 34 off his 8 overs. At Andrews Park, Wauchope won the toss against Rovers and had no hesitation in batting first but they were quickly regretting that as wickets fell at regular intervals and their total of 128 was very disappointing especially as they only faced 33 of their allotted 40 overs with poor shot selection not helping. Matthew Miller top scored with 33 and was ably supported by Matt Day who finished with 29 not out and was only one of a few batsmen who seemed to value their wicket. Harrison Nemme and Daniel Wade ripped through wauchope to finish with 4 wickets a piece. Rovers then were never in any danger as the small total looked about 60runs under par as they chased down the runs in only 24 overs with the loss of 5 wickets. Youngster Lachie Dowling who at only 16 years of age showed he is a star of the future finishing on 54 not out. The match between Magpies and Wingham looked like being a run fest early on as the visiting Magpies team won the toss and amassed 8 for 232 from their allotted overs. It was young gun recruit from macleay Tom Paix who starred with an effortless 83 and was well supported by Zac Jones who was dismissed for 62. Best of the Wingham bowlers was Steve Allwood and Josh McTaggert who took 3 wickets each. Wingham were then in early bother as they fell to 2 for 28 off 7.5 overs. Then Unfortunately rain stopped play. The match ending in a draw. Round 7 next week sess Taree West have the bye. Port Pirates will look to consolidate their top 4 position against a struggling and disappointing Wauchope team, Rovers are looking to keep their top spot when they are at home to the dangerous Magpies and the round finishes off with United tackling Wingham.

10.01.2022 Round 3 of the MNC Mcdonalds Premier League seen some tight games as well as some outstanding individual performances. At Johnny Martin Oval Taree West won the toss and decided to bat first. Taree West wouldn't of been too happy with the way thing went as they lost wickets regularly and were bowled out for 149 in just 35 overs. Clint Simpson 34, Zac Sheather 31 and captain Josh Meldrum 35 all got starts but unfortunately the team needed one of them to go on with it. Spinner J...ason Swain was the chief destroyer taking 4 wickets while Josh Felton and Zac Jones both chipped in with 2 wickets each. Sean Minns then continued his good form belting 84 not out with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Luke Boxhall opened up with Minns and offered good support to compile a well earned 50. Magpies chased down the target only losing 1 wicket and finished the game off during the 26th over. At Andrews Park United won the toss and sent Wauchope in on a good looking deck. Nathan Lyon continues to score runs at will and after last season must be considered unlucky to have not pushed for North Coast selection. Lyon compiled a majestic 91 off only 87 balls with other players chipping in with Lindsay Hopper 30, Ethan McKenna 22 and Andrew Murrel 19 not out in what was an imposing 7 for 205 after their allotted 40 overs. Taree united then started strongly and were going hard early with numerous players making starts, but the star of the show was wicket keeper Brock Hynes with 77. Hynes was well supported by Aaron Pin with 38 as United chased the total down in the 38th over with the loss of 8 wickets. Tony Brown with 3 for 34 and Matt Day with 2 for 35 were the pick of the bowlers. Wingham defeated Rovers in the other game by 9 wickets with no scorecard available.

08.01.2022 Round 7 of the MNCC McDonalds Premier League saw Rovers continue their strong start to the season with a 33 run win over Port City Magpies. Batting first Rovers compiled a very respectable 7 for 213 from only 36 overs with Mitch Korn 81 and Jarrod Prosper 51 hitting the Magpies bowlers to all parts of the ground to set up an imposing total in the rain reduced match. Brendan Badenoch and Zac Jones were the pick of the bowlers with 3 and 2 wickets respectively. Magpies then had... too many batsmen get starts but not go on with it as they were bowled out for 180 in 34 overs. Zac Jones completed a great allround performance to hit 53 but had little support as wickets fell regularly around him. D. Wade picked up 4 wickets for Rovers with Jarrod Prosper also taking 3. In the local derby Taree United surprised Wingham who were no match for their fierce rivals. Batting first Wingham never really got going and were dismissed for 134 which was below par. B. Cole 38 and R. Morris 32 both got starts but Wingham needed one of them to go on with it to post a competitive total. Sam Whitbread took 4 for 20 off 7.3 overs and Tom Burley 2 for 14 off eight overs. United then chased down the small total only losing 4 wickets in 32.1 overs. Tom Burley made light work of the total playing a lone hand to finish on 72not out. The match between Wauchope and Pirates at Oxley oval was called off due to wet weather after only 18.1 overs were bowled. Wauchope were 3 for 69 at the time with north coast keeper Darren Bourke looking in good touch to finish on 30 not out. Next weekend sees the start of the 20/20 rounds with plenty of exciting cricket expected.

07.01.2022 Round 2 of the MNC McDonalds Premier League tossed up some close games and also some surprise results in what is shaping up to be the most open competition with all teams looking evenly matched early on in the season. At Oxley Oval Port City won the toss and decided to bat first against Wauchope and early on it looked like a good decision as openers Sean Minns 35 and the evergreen Gordan Scott 41 were doing it easy and scoring at a reasonable rate putting on 89 for the first ...Continue reading

04.01.2022 McDonald's MNC Premier League cricket is called off for tomorrow. Over 35s Manning v Hastings on Sunday is also off. The over 35s will be on next Sunday 16th February Enjoy your weekend and let's hope it keeps raining

04.01.2022 Round 1 of the MNC McDonalds Premier League Cricket competition kicked off on the weekend and finally brought some much needed rain and only one game being completed due to the weather. Rovers put the rest of the competition on notice by defeating reigning Premiers Taree United. Rovers were sent into bat and youngsters Mitch Korn & Jack Wakely made the most of some chances provided by sloppy catching from United. Together they posted a 66-run partnership for Rovers second wi...cket which swung the game in the home team’s favour. 4 of Rovers top 5 made 20 or more allowing their lower order to swing freely in the final few overs. Korn (62) was ably supported by Wakely who was on debut in the Rovers first XI (24). Lachlan Dowling made 27 and Ethan Dowling a run a ball 21.N. Ballard was united's shining light taking 5 for 42 with the ball. In response most of the United batsmen failed to get starts with Tom Burley hitting 69notout in what was a lone hand. Rovers bowled well with all 5 bowlers taking wickets, but the standout was another of the youngsters Harry Nemme with 4-22. He was supported with good stump to stump bowling by Dan Wade 2-26 off 7 & Josh Brenton 2-31 from 7. Burley remained unbeaten on 69 when he ran out of partners in the 26th over, United all out for 131. Rovers captain Ethan Dowling was pleased with their early season form. It’s nice to start with a win but there is plenty to work on for us. We have been building through the first 2 years of competition and our team is strengthening all the time with the Rovers juniors coming through to the First XI. The Match between Port Pirates and Port City was called off but not after Port City showed what is going to be their strength this year when captain Adam Broderick won the toss and sent the young Pirates team into bat. Wickets fell at regular intervals and if it wasn't for a great rear guard knock from Pirates captain Connor cook of 32 and the fact that extras were the second top score with 20, Pirates total of 101 was very flattering. Sean Minns, Brendan Badenoch and evergreen spinner Jason Swain all took 3 wickets each. Port City then faced only 8 balls before the game was called off. Pirates will look to next week now to get their top order firing whilst Adam Broderick must be pleased with his bowlers after the first hit out. Match Drawn The final game was between Taree West and Wauchope at Johnny Martin Oval with Wauchope winning the toss and sending Taree in on what looked like a very interesting pitch which proved to be right with a lot in it for the bowlers. Wauchope bowled exceptionally well with Matt Day taking 3 wickets, Matt Miller and vetran Scott Mallyon 2 each, Will Clarke on his premier league debut bowled well to snare 1 wicket. C. Simpson, L. Brown and J. McLeod all scored 21runs each to make Taree's total of 109 look respectable on a dicey pitch. Wauchope then finished on 3 for 33 when rain stopped play. Match Drawn
