07.01.2022 February Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. #ovariancancer is the second most diagnosed gynaecological cancer, and 10th most diagnosed cancer overall. The two most important risk factors of ovarian cancer include a family history of ovarian or breast cancer, and an increased risk after 50 years of age, generally post menopause. Other factors such as obesity, smoking and diabetes increase your risk.... Symptoms of ovarian cancer include bloating or increased abdominal size, abdominal or pelvic pain, appetite loss, feeling full quickly or indigestion, urinary changes (frequency/ urgency), changes in bowel habits (constipation), unexplained weight loss or weight gain and unexplained fatigue. Generally ovarian cancer is diagnosed as a result of showing symptoms, however your GP may recommend screening if you have a high risk of development. Having a good understanding of your family’s medical history is important, and ensure you understand and taking note of changes to your body. Talk to your doctor if you have a family history of ovarian cancer, or are showing signs or symptoms. #paintthetownteal mcdowallvillage.amed.com.au/
