25.01.2022 This dining space was once the laundry Now it is the perfect place for the family to gather. Being a small unit, we made sure to integrate plenty of seating and storage by utilising our custom made bench seat.... We removed the wall between the kitchen and laundry. We then integrated the laundry into the bathroom, allowing this unit to have a cozy dining space

22.01.2022 Tight budget.... You have no idea where to start on your renovation Let me help you out! I could honestly talk all day about tile selection, colour choices and cabinetry. This kitchen we kept the SAME layout, SAME plumbing location and the SAME appliances. Do you know why we did this? We had an extremely tight budget to work with. You can just shut the door, walk away and switch off from that never-ending job list. Below are my 5 must-haves when designing an office space:... 1. Comfortable chair, 2. 21.01.2022 Do you know the two most important key steps in planning a renovation? When it comes to renovations in your home, we believe that BUDGET and TIME FRAMES are the two most important factors. Why do you ask? BUDGET. Without this, you may spend too much money in one room/area, not leaving enough finances for other locations in mind. Your budget can quickly add up when you have tradies involved, so contact your builder/leading hand carpenter for an appraisal to set a realistic bud...get for each room. Get your quotes and finishing cost first. Golden rule NEVER guesstimate and have the "she'll be right attitude." Time frame, living in the house while renovating will slow the progress down ( we know as we have done this ) if you are after speed, consider moving out while works take place. Pre-planning Think about each step that is needed for an example the kitchen has to be ordered first as this can sometimes take 6-8 weeks before it is ready to be installed. 20.01.2022 SWIPE to see the Before and After. Let's talk DIY. Not all renovations need massive budgets to make a BIG impact. This home renovation for us was challenging as we were living in the home (I do not recommend this!) We were on a pretty tight budget which meant @bunnings and @ikea_australia was our go-to! The white side of the Kitchen was all kaboodle joinery (purchased from Bunnings) and cost around 2k with the custom bench top. To make this small space feel larger, we painte...d everything white as we were also dealing with a low ceiling height. The black island was IKEA joinery, 1k, and marine plywood for our benchtop. We laid a vinyl plank flooring and what a difference it made. It is crazy how a little elbow grease, paint and some new kitchen cabinets can do for a space. 17.01.2022 Spring is here, which means more time outside soaking up all this beautiful weather... Here in Queensland we find we spend most of our time outdoors, which is why I love that indoor/outdoor flow. By generously extending this deck and building the flyover roof, means we get to enjoy outdoor living all year round. The trees are one of my favourite features, and I was so happy to cut the deck around them, instead of cutting them down. Brendan, on the other hand, was not impressed as it created more work for him butttt it would have been a crying shame to lose these beauties, or narrow the deck dimensions. who is with me

17.01.2022 Are you a good project manager, but don't know where to start when it comes to your design? This project I was asked to help design this doctors surgery waiting area into something a little more pleasing to the eye and user friendly within a tight budget. The client from AMH accounting who completed this job for a friend already had excellent project management skills; therefore, she only needed some guidance and layout ideas.... I met onsite took photos, and worked on concept ideas. I emailed the client with a fresh new design, layout, shopping list of all the fixtures, furniture and a list of good trades to use. The client then went away with her list, new layout a fantastic team behind her and turned this not so inviting space into a beautiful fresh waiting area. Not all jobs need to be run by us, if you don't mind being hands-on, a little DIY savvy to save some cash, then we can supply you with the inside help and knowledge to get the job done. 17.01.2022 It has been a hot minute since I have jumped on here, who else feels that 2020 has thrown some real curve balls! I feel like I have been running on empty for the past couple of weeks running our family business, moving multiple times this year, chasing a full-on soon to be 2 year old and trying to get out and enjoy all things North Queensland. These polished brass casement window latches not only are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but they also enhance the look of the window and actually work properly!! I love to save a dollar when it comes to renovations but not when it comes to security for you and your family. 15.01.2022 Find out my top 3 reasons I LOVE louvre windows? Airflow - Unlike casement or awning windows, louvre windows are not affected by the direction of the wind. They allow for better control, and more evenly distributed airflow inside your home, by tilting the glass blades upwards or downwards. Cleaning - Louvre windows are super easy to clean, they can be cleaned on both sides from inside the home, this is great if you have a two-story or higher building.... Light control - When the slats are made from wood or aluminium, they can give you 100% blockout perfect for bedrooms or the media room. 07.01.2022 Let's talk matchy-matchy. Are you the type of person that must have all matching chairs at a dining table, you like to have the same lounge suite, or your bedside tables MUST match? I get it, who doesn't love to one-stop shop especially if you have a toddler in tow!!! I'm not saying this look is wrong and yes some people love all matching, that is ok but keep in mind by doing this can sometimes make a room feel flat and you may lose your own character. Ask yourself, what does... your space say about you? Your home is your personality; you can see personality shine through with our Dulong renovation, with the owners choice of furnishings. Try and avoid that cookie-cutter approach. Op shops, vintage stores, FB market place or even a garage sale, are a great way to hunt down unique pieces of furniture and art that can put some life back into your space. I have a little challenge for you if you find your room is matchy-matchy try to move some items around or even do a little DIY and give your furniture a fresh new coat of paint. 04.01.2022 Bath or no bath When renovating a property, I always do my best to ensure there is enough space for a bath. By adding a bath, you add more potential buyers. When I say try and always add a bath I mean a separate bath.... personally I am not a fan of the shower /bath combo. Who's with me... This bathroom renovation came down to good planning to allow us to separate the bath and shower. Tile choice is kept simple to appeal to the majority, and larger format tiles give a look and feel of a spacious bathroom. #mcgrathdandc

If you find that your bathroom layout is practical, only look at changing the cosmetic look of the space (a facelift) Our aim for this bathroom renovation was to channel those Hampton/ coastal vibes.
